Jin always felt out of place, like an alien in his KPop trainee days, but when the fandom, ARMY, grew, and they connected, he felt like he had found his place, his home. He had a 9 year old girl in thus track to represent the 9 year old ARMY, and when he sings "you" he us speaking to each ARMY member.
It is useful to note, when BTS sing about love it is rarely about romantic aspects but either internal emotions, or for ARMY, or close friendship. We all, of course, interpret lyrics based on our own experiences and can often relate the lyrics to romantic aspects too. Their music has captured so many people because of this.

Obviously the context is he's an idol going to his mandates military service but this could be applied in so many situations.
Edit: he is my bias so take this with a grain of salt but his role in BTS isn't necessarily main dancer or main singer, though he is technically a 'visual'. His role is more the glue that helped BTS survive to this point. The other members paint a picture that he is basically like emotional support behind the scenes (jhope calls him his battery, augst d/suga was his first roommate and got him comfortable talking about his mental health issues, RM relies on him when he's nervous, he practically raised 13 year old brand new trainee jungkook etc)

I’ve never been more scared to click on a Teddy reaction. Jin released this track before leaving for the military as sort of a farewell to ARMY so this song is very special to us. I think you can miss out on just how special it is if you aren’t in the fandom and it’s easy to discount this song as just another lovey pop song.
I’m grateful you went in with an open mind.
I’d also be interested to see you come back to it after your BTS deep dive. I’m excited to follow you on that journey because I know you’ll love a lot of their songs and the meanings behind them. It reminds me of nice Brit pop of the 80´s. Love Jin´s voice. This song is dedicated to ARMY before going to the military.
This is just a special Jin/Army song. He’s basically saying goodbye to Army ( the little girl), and telling us we will be ok while he’s gone to the military. Chris Martin’s intro to this song at Coldplay’s Argentina concert, was so poignant. It was Jin’s final performance prior to his military enlistment.
You should check out the LIVE performance of this song with Jin and Coldplay, filmed in South America. You knew this was Coldplay singing with him, right? 😚
Epiphany is one of his best solos as well as this 💜
My dream collab! Jin is my bias, and I’ve been a ColdPlayer for 21 years now. When Coldplay performs My Universe in concert, the ARMYs go absolutely crazy and I sob…both times I’ve seen Coldplay live in the last year and a half, I SOBBED!

Others said much what I wanted to say. But the amazing part of this song is when you watch the live performance with Cold Play. BTS did a version of My Universe with Cold Play and they are huge fans of each other now. Jin did not have time to do a full album before leaving for military bc he's the oldest so he asked Chris Martin to help him give a song to ARMY (the fans) as a goodbye (till I see you later) song.
But really - watch the live performance. Chris Martin does have a little mistake and starts singing the wrong lyrics at one point but it just makes it more endearing to see how they handle it. But to really appreciate Jin's voice, hear it live. Epiphany is a BTS sung solely by Jin that just really showcases his talent.

What you do have to remember when getting into BTS music is some of their songs are very confusing to foreigners because of all the cultural references. So for some songs (ddaeng, idol, silver spoon, ect.) I would really recommend watching them along with an explanation video by a korean. I am so exited for you to listen to them though!!!! I hope you enjoy it!
This was such a great song for Army when it came out. This was his goodbye for the military, the first song we got after they announced the hiatus for their service, and he was the first to go. He had already put off going for so long, that when it finally happened it seemed more emotional. Coldplay's song with BTS, My Universe, started a friendship between the bands but especially between Jin and Chris. And the behind the scenes stuff from that production is just so heart warming. Like the guys helping Chris with his Korean lyrics, and writing everything during the pandemic. I'm feeling nostalgic now lol

I listen to this song like every day, and every time I start crying so hard, his voice touches my heart, and makes me feel alive!
It’s meant to be about him loving Army and being with Army. The gist is that he wants army to know he is going away for a while but he will be looking out for them while he’s away and that all will be well
hey that makes perfect sense to me! Also as to why at the end we heard a bike bell ring. Because if the young girl represents Army then a lot of you found BTS when you were young, you went through a lot with their music being an integral part of your lives (maybe represented in him teaching the girl how to ride a bike). Now you’re all grown up, he’s going away for a while, but when he’s back, with all you’ve learnt in his absence, he hopes you’ll be calling round with your bike when he’s home.

@@TeddyGreyOS- The fandom is young, yes, created 10 years ago, but the fans themselves are diverse in age. I'm 47 myself, who found them when I was 45.
It's true that a lot of ARMYs find BTS when they are going through hardships, but not necessarily hardships of youth. It can be the isolation of the pandemic, the death of a loved one, depression, illnesses, anything really. And BTS, their music, the members, have been there as a source of comfort, inspiration, strength. Now that they're serving in the military, they can't be with us physically for the time being.
This was Jin's goodbye song before enlisting into the army and I cry everytime I hear the I love you part 😭😭 you must watch Jin and Coldplay singing this live in Argentina
this is a fan song. he specially made it as a gift and wanted to dedicated it to us so it is possible that others might not like it or understand it. jin is known for his amazing unique voice and is named as Silver vocalist ( other than world wide handsome ) he does such amazing falsetto in almost every bts song. i would recommend you to check this other songs like Epiphany , Awake to know about his vocals more.

The little girl represents ARMY... He wanted to left a song for us and he ask about it to chris martin and he gave this song to jin... and he performed it in Argentina (my country) in one of coldplay's concerts before going to the MS. Is a very special song.
8:03 His “particular thing” in BTS that no one does better than him is belting high notes, but of course it’s not the only thing he does well. I particularly like his vocals the most on his solo songs Epiphany and Moon, the vocal-line ballads, and the group songs Dionysus (both low & high notes), Film Out & Crystal Snow (triple high note ). There’s just something extra-special about their Japanese tracks that seem to make all their vocals stand out.
You may notice that many of BTS songs, including this one, are written in a way that allows them to be applicable to many kinds of love and/or relationships, not exclusively romantic ones. The girl in this video represents ARMY, as she looks about 10yrs old, the same time BTS and their fandom have been around.

Jin took an extremely long flight to sing this live with Coldplay in Argentina for just that one performance before he enlisted. Be sure to watch the longer clip of this, which includes the introduction by Chris Martin. Very touching.
There is also the Bangtan Bomb background video of Jin making this journey. In it, you see how Chris Martin makes a little change on the day of the performance, which Jin tries to go along with, but does seem to throw him off a little, when he has a small moment of confusion during the performance.
The whole moment is very emotional for Jin, as he is the first to enlist, and because he is a huge Coldplay fan. It all goes well, ultimately, and was a very sweet “goodbye for now” from Jin, with the help of Coldplay.

I found you when you first started reacting to stray kids and I adored your enthusiasm, I had even hoped to run into you during lolapalooza Paris to thank you for all your wonderful reactions, because you really make my day with them. I was an Army before I found Stray kids, and now I'm Stay and Army because I love both groups and their music dearly. Jin's temporary farewell song never allows me to keep my eyes dry. Thank you for reacting to them as well, I am so looking forward to more reactions! Some of the comments mention Epiphany and I can't help but to endorse them. This is Jin's last song before he went to military to say goodbye for now to ARMY. The MV tells a lot about him and does contain some Easter eggs.
The MV show that a spaceship is drifted away and falls on the earth then Jin meet the little girl. This is same as Jin was study to become an actor but drifted away when he was found by Big Hit and end up become a singer and met ARMY. It was not his plan but it just happen. He has no experience in singing and dancing. All are alien to him.
When he met the little girl, the girl teach him a lot of things and he teach the girl to ride a bike. So he learn a lot from ARMY (and other members) and teach ARMY some things too. Their friendship is blossom that he feels home and feels that he is part of a family (look at the drawing).
When the ship is fixed, he has to go but when he is there, he remember the girl and choose to come back because he found a home on earth. It is his promise to ARMY that he will be back.
Before he goes, he gave his helmet to the girl to protect the girl. He want ARMY to always be safe.
Look at the crosswords said ARMY, family, moon(Jin's other song about ARMY), cozy.
Now the Easter eggs:
- You will see Chris Martin in the tv as a news guy (this song is given by Coldplay and jin involve in the lyrics too)
- You will see some of Coldplay posters on the wall in his room
- The guitar in the room is Chris Martin's guitar that he gave it to Jin as a gift.
- On Jin's neck there is a braille that said "ARMY" (when he is in front of the spaceship)

This song isn’t about romantic love, it’s about Jin’s relationship with ARMY. (ARMY being represented as the little girl who was about 9 1/2 years old, which was how old ARMY was when Jin enlisted in the military. ) Jin was indeed the astronaut that crash landed in an unfamiliar environment. ARMY teaches him how to be human and in return he tries to protect ARMY. He still can’t answer the question on the crossword puzzle though, and then he gets the signal that his ship is repaired and it’s time to leave. However, on his journey back to the ship he’s reflecting on his time with ARMY, and as he is about to board the UFO he has the realization (an epiphany if you will) that ARMY is his home. So he tries to return to ARMY. If you every get into BTS’ lore you will realize that there is a pickup truck in a lot of the early BTS Universe videos, which led many of us to believe that the pickup that picks him up at the end of the video represents BTS. BTS being the vehicle that takes Jin back to ARMY. Finally he solves the crossword puzzle and the answer is FAMILY. It doesn’t actually fit in the number of boxes though because the black dots separating the boxes of the crossword puzzle spell out ARMY in braille.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. This was lovely. I cried though on 1st watch. Gosh darn it. It feels like Jin is saying farewell to us for now. He is going to military. Gone for 18 months on a new journey. Alone but not really alone u know because army is everywhere! i love it. I got to see Coldplay live with Jin in cinemas, Argentina. i went with my HS pal and an army moot on twt. it was fun. Jin slayed his 1st solo debut. Coldplay background vocals were sweet. The song has a Coldplay sound for sure. It's a love song to us. i am mush. U missed the Chris cameo in the MV. =0p Yep, the timing really sucks. But we needed them during covid. It would have been way different if they did solo's and enlisted when they planned. It would have changed so many things. I think it is as it should be not ideal but it is what it is. U know. We going to have to accept and grow. Painful for us and them. Super painful. But rules are rules. And they love their country. They good men. All the members have enlisted. All will be back in 2025. They all want to be together as soon as possible. Coldplay wrote the song at jin's request. City pop is that the genre. Sweet. Jin is a huge Coldplay fan. BTS loves the band too. The story of this MV is that Jin is an astronaut from outer world, and while traveling through the universe landed on Earth due to a broken spaceship. He was living on Earth waiting for his spaceship to be fixed so he can return to space. In the meantime he meets and creates a valuable relationship with the little girl (Army), who teaches him things, and in return, he helps Army to ride her bike (and be on her own). When his people finally come to get him on Earth, he excitedly runs and bicycles to the spaceship. Then, he realizes at the end that instead of returning to space, he wants to stay on Earth to be with his Army.💜

For those who didn't understand the story in the Mv
Jin is a alien in this mv who has lost his way and came to earth but he can't go back to his home because the spaceship is broken so he spends his time on earth hoping that one day someone will repair that spaceship and he will go back home until then he spends his time with a little girl ( Army) and made memories with her and one day he saw on the news that someone saw a mysterious light from that place he decides to leave earth and he gives is helmet to that girl ( its like telling army and members take care of yourself i hope you will be fine by yourself now ) and when he reaches the place to leave earth he realises that "This was his home all along" where he has people who love him and cherish him "WE ARE HIS HOME HIS FAMILY WHO BROUGHT LIGHT INTO HIS DARKNESS" and he rushed back to that Little girl and hops on the first ride he could get to reach his newly founded home✨ you can see the smile of relief on his face in the last scene that means he has found his home and he is happy now and at last he fills FAMILY in crossword puzzle and smiles to the camera it's like tell us that we are his family and he will come back to us because We are his home.

Jin's vocals shine in BTS' Japanese tracks... But also their ballads... House of Cards, truth untold etc. Would suggest you go through their music in order of release starting from their debut album bcz they have a narrative. You would like the b-sides I feel. BTS' music is best understood in the context of who they are are why they are saying what they are saying :) IK you havent always had the best experience with some army or haven't liked BTS songs, but interested to know your thoughts now :) Most sane army are okay if you don't like a song as long as you're respectful about it. We are very overprotective of the boys. If you know their history you will understand why!

As you know, all BTS members are serving in the military.
Due to their military duty, BTS briefly stopped working on a group they had been working on for eight years, and have been focusing on solo work for the past year.
They promised their fan base, ARMY that each of them will grow further through solo projects and come back together in 2025 after completing their military service.
Jin already enlisted about a year ago and is currently serving as an assistant in the Korean Army boot camp under Korean law. And he will be discharged from the army six months later and come back to our side on June 12. :)
The Astronaut was made by Jin with Coldplay's Chris Martin as a gift to say goodbye to ARMY just before he joined the army.
If you want a little backstory about the music video, Jin is an astrounaut(or alien) from another planet who crashed on Earth. He still wanted to back to his home planet, but the little girl represents ARMY who found him and gave him a home. When he has a chance to go back to his planet, he remembers the life he has spent with the little girl on Earth, realizes how happy it was and how much he loved it, and decides to stay on Earth. He's found his home is HERE.
Btw, Jin's neck in the music video at 3:50 says "ARMY" in Braille and the crossword puzzle (the black squares) means "FOR ARMY" in Braille. :)

This song reminds me Jin's speech in 2018 MAMA. Jin said in his acceptance speech at the 2018 MAMA that BTS suddenly became famous worldwide and had a hard time for a year due to great pressure and fear. They even thought about disbanding. However, after a year of talking and contemplating with the members, they decided to stay in the industry only for the fans and members. They stayed for ARMY even though they had a chance to return to their normal lives. And at the concert in Busan in 2022, SUGA told ARMY to grow old together because they will make music for another 20 or 30 years.
BTS' love for ARMY is very deep, and they always show their love through their music. The Astrounaut is one such song.

But as BTS themselves say, you can have a totally different interpretation rooted in your own personal experience.

left on 12/22 for his mandatory military service and asked his friend Cris Martin, who is a great friend of BTS, to collaborate to make a “see you later” song for the Army. Jin has already made a song called Moon, where he says “I am the moon and the army is my land”.
He is an extraterrestrial who, upon seeing that his ship has been repaired, prepares to return to his planet and says goodbye to his neighborhood friend. From there, he goes to meet his ship, on a bicycle (any reference to ET?).
Details: he gives the girl his helmet (“be well”); the girl is about 10 years old, which is Army age; the bike is purple (Army color); the black spaces in the crossword puzzle he made spell out the word Army in braille.
In this friendship, he interacted with the girl, teaching her to ride a bicycle and learned from her to be happier and to like simple things that make him express new emotions.
When it's time to leave, he remembers those good times and decides to go back, considering that Earth is now his place. Then go back to your true home and your friend.
Details: his going to the desert is the period of his military service; in the crossword between the words that are there, he writes 'family'; when he is returning in the truck to his house, the tattoo appears on the right side of the neck written “army”; back in the room, he is happy for his decision and choice. When he hears the bicycle bell, he is even happier, because the girl was waiting for him to return to continue playing, just as the Army will be waiting for him to return from military service (bell was also a name considered to name the fandom, before the army). 💜💜💜

I hope your journey does not start with Butter or Dynamite but with older songs that made them who they are. They basically started with songs dissing society as a k-pop band while wearing eyeliner and having crazy hair (what was their stylist thinking, I have no idea).
This song was so dreamy but also so terrifying for us army, this was the goodbye he sent it to us before joining the army, he was the 1st member to enlist and now they're all gone.... the girl is us army, the story of this song is literally him saying goodbye to the girl, to us,. Him going on a journey and the coming back (the sound of the bike at the end is the girl coming back) and the answer to your question, Jin's plus in bts is his high notes as suga said" the reason why people told me that they can't sing our songs on karaoke is because of how high they are and it's because of Jin and jimin"
