As a Columbus fan and full season ticket holder, I'm good with this signing. I figure they may add a third pair defenseman in the next day or so. I figure Jenner is moved to wing and we could see a top line of Gaudreau-Monahan-Chinakhov, with a second line of Jenner-Fantilli-Marchenko, a third line of Voronkov-Sillinger-Johnson, with a fourth line of Danforth-Kuraly-Olivier. I put this together with the notion Laine would be gone (will we get anything for him?) The blue line features Werenski, Severson. Provorov, Gudbranson, Mateychuk and Jiricek. Little by little, we're getting there. In hindsight, the problem with Jarmo was he knew how to collect the pieces, but he couldn't put the puzzle together.
Why splitting all the Russians?
They should play on the same line and as one d-man pair
And in goal will be whatever fan wins the raffle that night.
Good things come to those who wait. At least we will be competitive again and have a coach who isn't a complete loser
The Panthers were a joke for two decades. Less fan support and worse ownership than Columbus. Hire the right guys, hit on a few free agents, and develop your prospects.
You're lucky cause we still have "the mistake by the Lake" it has been years, a few Life moments and many many heartbreaking times.. 😉
If we have the exact same trajectory as the Panthers from here on we will win the cup in 2034 (their last top-5 pick was in 2014) 😹 that doesn't sound so bad if it was guaranteed but I hope I don't have to wait THAT long!
@@uttermanbo no doubt.
I'm a Blue Jackets follower and once a fan. The problem with the Blue Jackets is that they lack all three of the important elements required to compose a truly good team (a team a step beyond staggering into the final playoff spot). The Jackets do not have a winning tradition. That's #1. They do not have an exciting city. That's #2. And they are not an _historic_ team. That's #3. Even one of those elements could bring possibilities, but there is none of them in Columbus (nor Buffalo, nor Ottawa). It should be noted that since their inception, the Blue Jackets have _always_ been one of the youngest teams in the NHL. That is because of a year-after-year circular dynamic. When the good players reach their athletic prime, they leave through free agency, and the mediocre young players are often dealt for draft picks and/or prospects.
Do the Panthers have a historic team, or a winning tradition? How exciting is Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale compared to the Columbus area? Tell me all about it since you seem to know a lot.
@@michaelcopper613 Florida trumps Columbus. That's why Bobrovsky signed there. In fact, that is why retired people move there.
@@timjansen7694 I'm still not sure what that has to do with the thing you said about the "three important elements required to compose a truly good team".
@michaelcopper613 I'll explain. A successful NHL franchise has to have at least one of the elements I named. The more, the better. The Blue Jackets have none. Neither does Ottawa or Buffalo. It's not just about being more attractive to the best players. It is about being more attractive and thereby increasing the chances of acquiring the exact players you want.
@@timjansen7694 But can you confirm the most recent cup-winning team has even one of those 3 things? Which one does it have?
I don't get this random beef Adam has with Kekaleinen, he did better than most GM's given the circumstances that presented themselves ( Panarin , Bob , Jones, PLD wanting out ). Plus he added some decent young talent.
I’m a blue jackets fan, so happy he picked here and Johnny and him can rekindle what they had back in Calgary.
This signing all relies on fantilli becoming a legit first line center. Monahan shouldn’t be anything more than a 2nd.
I mean it’s definitely a 2nd line centre contract
He's gonna moonlight as 1C until Fantilli takes it from him.

Monahan works on a 1st, 2nd or even 3rd line with as beens, he works on the center or wings, he’s responsable defensively, offensively, special teams, he can slow down plays, only thing lacking is speed.
Very glad, he got himself one last multi year deal, those injuries cost him a lot of millions in his prime years.
Thanks fellas, I am keepin head up. CBJ! Its gonna work out.
Biggest thing this signing does is it pushes Jenner back to the wing where he can be a more effective forechecker. His foot speed was not fast enough for center and definitely not a 1c like last year.
This is absolutely the biggest thing. Totally underrated consequence that no one is taking into account except CBJ fans.
what a great show. It is rare as a Columbus fan to see third party media have such up to date, high quality opinions about our team. You guys know your stuff.
Kekalainen did do a good job on getting in young good players and he is a very good GM but the players did not there job 👍🏻
He's an excellent drafter, great scout. He's a better-than-average trader, especially at the deadline. But there were other things he was not good at, and those things were glaring - he wasn't good at negotiating with RFAs in a way that didn't make them feel insulted, he wasn't good at pro scouting which means he wasn't good at free agency, he didn't put together a good development team. He also wasn't great at listening to his players and making them feel valued. And he constructed a team that was too young to be any good but had too many win-now contracts. It wasn't that there was no plan, it was that there were seven plans. He was great at a lot of things, but the ones he's not great at were the things that sank him.
@@davidstefano2709 I agree with your statement
As a Jackets fan I spent more money watching Echl leagues Komets than Columbus
which forwards that can score available for Columbus?
damn he really wanted to play with Johnny again
Jett Luchanko drafted to Philly too. Good time to be a Jett.
Johnny went for a somebody in Calgary to a nobody in Columbus and maybe Monahan can help him become a somebody in Columbus. Fingers crossed.
Yep, 2 free 1st rounders for Monahan. One got us Newhook and the one got us Hage. PLUS we got some good hockey out of Monahan 😆😆...not bad for taking on a little salary for a season.
Would Dowd + a second round draft pick be enough to get McGroarty from Winnipeg?
Simpsons:
"Now entering Winnepeg
We were born here, what's your excuse?"
He finally leaves Canada. Idk if that was the plan but i thought it was odd that he always played for canadian teams
The guy on the left looks like Syndrome from The Incredibles
Someone gonna have to play on the right because Monahan probably going on a line with Boone Jenner and Johnny Hockey. Makes sense if it can work. Fantilli, the new kid and Johnson are definitely a potential line and the Russians plus Sillinger and whoever else is left 3 and 4.
Laine needs to get traded quickly.
Kirill Marchenko has spoken
Monahan career arc has been pretty interesting

zzzzz
Who could the red wings trade for, in Columbus? Picking up 3 Goalies. I think the Yzerplan is going to move Lyon for something and maybe trade another piece.
