I'm one of those Volvo loyalists who wouldn't consider anything else, have had nothing but Volvos my whole life, from 16 on. Picked up a new 2021 XC60 today, updating from a nearly identical 2018, and was happy to get basically the same vehicle because it's an awesome car for all of the reasons this review excellently explained. If you choose a model that's the size that's right for you, I don't think anyone can go wrong with any Volvo. They're not getting cheaper, unfortunately, but Volvo also has a Certified Pre-Owned program that's hard to beat with an amazing warranty.
im considering getting a 2021 xc60 now. How has it held up? I will definately bet getting at least the 5 year/unlimited mile warranty, but curious to hear abnout your experience
Good review, I appreciate some of the points you made that I didn’t hear anywhere else!
Thanks!
Sorry to comment on oldesh video, but not many know that you can keep your drinks and sandwiches etc. cool in the glove box - at least in my XC40 T5 PHEV 2021 there is a switch inside the box which turns the box to a cooler.
Hi there thank you very much for X60 review very much appreciated.
I really like your style of reviewing. Concise and to the point. Great job.
One of the best car reviews I have seen lately.
Thank you!!
A very nice review overall, well filmed (very nice 👍) and good sound, informative and enjoyable to watch. Well done 👏
Thank you
Love Volvo!
I know at the time of writing this, the review is 2 years old. But the review of Volvo's seems to be pretty consistent, great vehicle's. Will be looking at the XC60 vs XC90 and maybe a wagon V90 if I can fine it with very low miles at right the price.
I like how Volvo keeps their design simple
Its part of the Swedish styling, like IKEA
Thank you, excellent video and overview. The seat cover material made me want to claw my eyes out.
😁
Delighted with mine
Lauren, you are definitely cranking out the content, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!!
I have the 2020 xc60 t6 inscription. Love it. Im feeling the interior of the model you drove though. I think the two tone seats looked awesome.
Enjoy the Volvo 👍
More car makers are migrating to HD radio over AM and many AM stations broadcast now over HD radio. Great review. I may have to get a crossover since automakers seem to be focused on building them over coupes and sedans.
Love it ❤
Really comfort.
Great and thorough review! What color is that Volvo?
I bought mine in Sept, denim blue with blonde leather interior. I get lots of compliments.
Same here. Xmas present for wife 2021 XC90 T6 Inscription.
Great choices 👍
Great review as always!! Thanks Lauren... but 3:10 What's wrong with the "Swedish Style"?
Just took home my brand new XC60 yesterday and so far I love it! It's our 4th Volvo purchase in about 20 years. My only observation so far is that the driver and passenger seats are not quite as comfortable as my husbands 10 year old S80. Really looking forward to getting out and about more once the pandemic is over.
Hello, may I ask did you get Momentum or Inscription? I am getting Inscription this week with 14-way adjustable seats - I hope they will worth the money. My current XC-60/2018/Momentum with options - I like it very much.
Thanks for sharing!
The Inscription seats have four way lumbar and thigh extension - both features missing on the Momentum. The comfort difference is enough to make me not want a Momentum.
Impressive presentation
Thank you
10 of 10 ❤
Is the center console in the front adjustable? At 6'2 my right elbow is always left hanging.
Good review. You answered most of my questions. Does this do Android Auto? If so, which port do you plug into to get your phone displayed on the infotainment center? Thanks!
She said cupholders built into the head rest.. interesting feature...wow.
I opted for the Volvo xc40 because, although it has slightly less rear storage (2 cubic feet) it makes up for it in in-door, centre console, and glove box space. In addition I am not a fan of the starter and drive mode nobs on the center console where my dog likes to stand.
These are all good points. Consider getting a harness for your dog in the car. If there’s an accident or aggressive stopping, we want to keep your buddy safe too.
Excellent review! How’s your partner, haven’t seen him in your recent reviews? You guys made a great team!
We haven’t been able to travel to review cars. Paul lives in Chicago and I live in Buffalo. We do miss our His Turn- Her Turn reviews.
@@CarCoachReports - Well that makes sense with the virus effects. I was rooting for the Bills, they put up a good fight!. It’s amazing how many reviews you do with the virus and the cold weather there.
I have been getting cars through all of the pandemic, lots more cool content coming. Soon Paul and I will be back 🤷🏻♀️
I just bought a 2022 XC60 with AWD, Momentum trim level. Overall, I really like the car. However, this years model has an Android operating system for the Infortainment system. Sometimes, it doesn't recognize when you say "Hey Google" and you have to do a system reset by holding the home button in for about 20 seconds. Also, the welcome chime that you hear when you first enter the vehicle stopped working and I can't get it to work again. There's a Volvo app for your phone that lets you remote start the car. That stopped working as well. All of this is covered by the warranty but it's really frustrating to have to keep going back to the dealer to get these issues resolved. I feel like Volvo did a really poor job integrating Android into the XC60. Too many bugs!
I love the volvos other then the roof is a bit low and I wish there was more leg room in the back rpw
Row
Hi Lauren, I like your voice too much.
The material in those seats remind me of grandma’s easy chair.
🤣🤣🤣
Great review, particularly the rundown on the instrument panel. I wonder if eventually the European engineering eventually jumps up to bite the owner. Having owned SAABs and BMWs, this European engineering results in higher repair costs long-term. Probably not an issue if you lease?
That is 100% true, after the warranty, any electrical issues on most of the new cars will be a nightmare., imagine trying to restore any of these new cars down the road. You will need an electrician and a computer geek.
@@CarCoachReports When should you upgrade your Volvo before potentially experiencing electrical issues?
Interesting your input about the radio. For my money if I could spec to have no radio at all, I would pay money in for it to be removed. I can’t remember when last I either watched broadcast TV or listened to a radio station. Certainly it for that last 10 years
Another highly informative review - many thanks. The Volvo’s a lovely car. But for my money, I’d go with the Mazda CX-5 Signature Turbo. What say you?
Fair enough!
Well not really comparable. CX-9 Signature is the more comparable. CX-5 is more comparable to a XC-60
@@mikexom xc40 you mean
@@justinbliek5205 nope. Xc-40 compares to a CX-30. CX-5 to a XC-60 and CX-9 to an XC-90. I own a CX-5 sig and a XC-90.
That’s correct
The audio system is B&W
Good review but I don’t know why none of these reviews cover reliability. If I’m spending this kind of money I want to know how reliable the brand is.
Vehicle comes with a 40 or 50,000 mile warranty and that includes roadside assistance for the same time.
I have the 2020 T6 AWD Inscription and what I find annoying is that the vehicle will turn off at a light or other "full stop" mode.. Is this by default or can I turn off this feature. I don't like to put a strain on the battery with functions running, like the "heater/AC or radio" without the engine being turned on..
From the home screen swipe to go to the left screen with all the options, there should be a button that says Auto Engine Stop. Click that and it will turn it off. It'll stay turned off unless you change into Eco mode, in which case it will turn back on. Hope that helped.
@@aley3629 Thanks. I found "Esc. Sport Mode" which seemed to do the trick. I'll look for the one you mentioned tomorrow, just in case I screwed up. Having said that, it is working the way I wanted it to.. But now I have to make sure I turn vehicle off when exiting, otherwise engine and radio will stay on.
I got a quote today for this vehicle to see how much my insurance would cost and it would go up $529.00 a year. My wife and I both have excellent credit and a great driving record, so this is a misconception. I still think I’m going to lease this vehicle regardless of the insurance quote
You will love the XC60
@@CarCoachReports thank you. Do you know if the XC60 is being refreshed or redesigned the for 2022, because I would hate to lease something now and then in the summer a version comes out.
@@jordanwolk6532 No. The xc90 will be the first to be redesigned and it is either an MY2022 or MY2023. The Xc60 has a few more years in its current form.
should I add Polestar upgrade to T5 and if so, can I use regular gas
The price to add Polestar can get very expensive. But if you’re looking for the upgrade and to use regular gas you’ll have to weigh the cost. Also check your insurance rates. They could make a difference
The upgrade is only $1295. Worth it IMO if it helps with smooth passing and acceleration.
The upgrade is only $1295. Worth it IMO if it helps with smooth passing and acceleration. But not so sure if I have to use Premium gas.
Why would you want to use regular gas on such a vehicle? I own an older Volvo t6 (turbocharged inline 6-cylinder) and once, by accident, regular gas was put in it. It didn't get as good gas mileage, it ran strangely, it didn't accelerate as well, and the difference between running premium vs. regular is huge in how the car felt and performed. There's no advantage to running this car with regular gas. You'll make up the money on gas mileage by using premium.
@@benjaminsmith2287 i always put regular in my xc90 - no problems
You don't have to buy the Volvo with the City Weave seats. Most people get Volvos with leather seats and they offer wool seats on some models. The engine choice was the weakest engine. The design now is on the old side but I think it has 2 or 3 more years to get an all-new design. The next new design in the xc90 and there's not much info out on it other than it is probably an MY2022 that is introduced early next year (delayed by the pandemic).
Thanks for adding in your comments.
It's a beautiful car. I'm surprised at that seat material choice. Is it some sort of fabric? I think that car would look much better with leather. The kicker was not having AM in the radio! Of all things to cheap out on why that? Many people wouldn't even realize it wasn't there until they went to use it like you did to find it missing.
So true!
Supposedly it is coming in a software update.
You can choose full leather on higher trims.
It's city weave. Some people like it. But I think you don't have to get it and you can get different options, including leather. Most people don't opt for city weave.
I had a 2019 T6 Inscription...nothing but problems. Traded it in and got a RX350...much better.
Please tell us about said problems
What do you think is more reliable v60 cross country or a4 allroad? Trying to figure out what to get.
I really like both but the Volvo is less expensive to own and maintain. Check insurance rates before deciding.
@@CarCoachReports we are moving Germany and trying to figure out what to get for family. Thank you for your reply.
Save travels!
I have owned the A4 allroad for 4 years now. It has 45K miles on it and so far, it has been the most reliable car I have owned, even beating my previous Subie Outback. Also, the ride is very comfortable.
Blown away by how Volvo has rejuvenated since being acquired by Geely of China #MadeInChina2025 #BeltAndRoad 🇨🇳
Of course, you could stay even safer on the road by NOT having an enormous camera stuck to the windscreen, obscuring your vision whilst driving.
you keep calling it german but its swedish, not just "designed in sweden" either
Its considered European
It’s Swedish, not German designed vehicle.
Eassy to see that it is a Volvo, ofcourse it is written on the bsck of the car 😂
Why do they tout the safety systems when most other less-expensive and better equipped vehicles have the same features? I feel like Volvo is stuck in its safety-oriented past when other car brands have clearly caught up to it so the "special feeling" of it is all gone. Not the best option out there.
Is it Chinese car?
A Chinese company owns them but they are not made in China they are made in Sweden , so it is a European vehicle
@@CarCoachReports thanks for replying
@@CarCoachReports Volvo or Lexus, what would you recommend?
That is a tough call. It has to do with the cost of the vehicle and monthly payments as well as your insurance rate. That would help me make the best decision. Either way you have a great option
@@cristianpaun6221 I’d get Volvo for safety technology and design and Lexus for reliability luxury materials and engine
very loud
I agree.
Bigger wheels are a downgrade, making the whole car worse overall, not better
Cross shop against the Lincoln Corsair and see for yourself how bad this XC60 is. I drive the XC60 on a daily basis and do not like the the vehicle at all.
Please tell us what you dislike about it .
@@greenivy4039
Since you asked, here are a few of the many things I dislike about the XC60:
I think ride is harsh. The all-touch infotainment system is not user friendly and requires the driver to spend far too much time fiddling and touching the screen, rather than looking at the road. In my opinion, though the seats look quite nice, the Nappa leather is too hard/stiff/ uncomfortable and not suitable for long distance driving. I think the cabin is not quiet for a luxury SUV and the overall feeling of driving or riding in plush, comfortable, serene luxury vehicle is just not there. A co-worker drives a Lexus and we both shared the same opinions of the XC60 and entire Volvo lineup.
I cannot speak for the German brands because I do not drive one; however, compared to my wife's Lincoln Corsair, driving the XC60 is a notch above driving a budget or economy SUV. Needless to say, this is just my opinion. Again, I drive every model of these Volvo's on a daily basis and dread driving the vehicles.
Thanks! I’ve been eyeing this xc60 and your review helps me reconsider other SUV’s .
It competes with (among others) the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.
@@greenivy4039 I'd drive the car and form my own opinion. Volvos with big wheels set with their air pressure high don't ride that well. But with smaller wheels and the air pressure not at the highest settings, ride similar to other Euro cars.
i heat hi baird cars ithink its like amule
Seat material design is enough for me to say NO THANKS.
It's city weave. You don't have to get that. Most Volvos come with leather seats. I don't care for city weave but some people seem to like it.
Thanks for your input. They typically give us vehicles with every single option
I just test drove both the Momentum and Inscription models and both had nice looking and feeling leather seats. The Inscriptions were more adjustable. They looked quite different from the ones in this video, which I thought were ugly looking.
CX5 Turbo all day. Better reliability.
I’d get volvo
I rented this Volvo on a recent trip, and it was awesome! I will definitely be purchasing this particular model. Love the xc60!
Not neutral review- you barely scratch the surface when it comes to disadvantages. This video feels like a long version advertisement for Volvo. Besides, many points especially in the first seven minutes are repeated over and over.
Couldn’t finish. Voice was like nails on a chalkboard.
