    Artwork by Henrietta Harris
    Lyrics:
    When I woke
I found my phone in the bed clothes
and the curtain glowed crimson through the window
To think of her was to want her
    Would you want me too?
She's got it all and yet
She's betting all she has on a first world problem
    You've got to understand
That I could be your man or a first world problem
I know that I was better as a loser
She's eating birthday cake inside the disco
I may be lost but I'm a lost man
    In love with you
She's got it all and yet
She's betting all she has on a first world problem
    You've got to understand
That I could be your man or a first world problem

ITS ALMOST LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO WRITE A CATCHY POP SONG. That chorus gets in my head all the time. This is music science people. It repeats for a reason.

I hope this change in sound (from indie lofi rock to electronic dance-ish style) doesn't have a bad effect on the rest of their new album. This wasn't what I was expecting but It could grow on me.
I felt the same way the Tame Impala's currents, like questioning the change in style but that turned out to be amazing. hope the same happens with UMO new record.

Josh Pat they started out with weird 60s style rock-my favourite , and went on to more 70s pop melody style sounds, while still retaining their old sound, the they made the transition to more 80s instrumentation based psychedelic synth rnb. they said themselves that first world problem was something written from their current head space at the time, and we now have the more 90s kurt cobain style edgy raw gituar that we can hear in American guilt and will most likely be more prominent in their new album sex and food. Personally I love anything unknown mortal orchestra do and im super pumped for their new album!

    Why do the lyrics say:
"She's got it all and yet
She's betting all she has on a first world problem
    You've got to understand
That I could be your man or a first world problem"
    When it's quite clearly:
"You've got it all and yet
You're betting all you have on a first world problem
    You've got to understand
That I could be your man or a first world problem"
    ?
    Weird.

Or, you know, Ffunny Ffrends. The very song that brought UMO into existence. Probably a good 70% of it is one (extremely tasty) melody over and over. Let Ruban do whatever brilliant things he wants, however repetitively he wants.

Critics are like eunuchs. They think they know how it's done, but they lack the balls to do it themselves.

    • @benjybumbrix7611

Ilham Maulana gave constructive criticism. He's allowed an opinion.
You defend and imply that this song is good, you're actually being a critic yourself.
so seeing as you're eager towards wanting a critic to go on a mission and produce a song, and seeing as you know what makes a good song perhaps you should reflect on your own words of advice and go make one?
      You got the balls right?
or you don't actually mean what you said?

The Radio BBC 6 music plays all day long at work. I listened to “First World Problem” and said: That song’s weird, man. They’re aiming at Prince and ended up hitting Milli Vanilli, with that annoying and repetitive chorus. I was very disappointed when I knew that it was Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
Obviously, I have to listen to the full album so I can understand their new moment and I understand their will to produce something different and explore a new territory, but this song just sounded a bit odd to me :(
