It sounds like this song is totally made for them to cover
Prince dies, UMO steps up to the plate "we got this"...
Pretty much EXACTLY what i was thinking.
'controversy' is my fav of his..
This is seriously the best cover I have ever heard.
ditto!!
UMO are the real deal
That guitar in the background just reminds me of Talking Head's Born Under Punches
HOLY SHIT THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN THINKING ALL MORNING!!
UMO covering the Dead? Yeeeeeaaaah
Never thought I would like a cover more than the original but here it is.
Verse 1]
You tell me this town ain't got no heart
The sunny side of the street is dark
Maybe that's because it's midnight, in the dark of the moon besides
Maybe the dark is from your eyes
Maybe the dark is from your eyes
Maybe the dark is from your eyes
You know you got such dark eyes!
[Chorus]
Nothing shaking on Shakedown Street
Used to be the heart of town
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart
You just got to poke around
[Verse 2]
You think you've seen this town clear through
Nothing here that could interest you
It's not because you missed out on the thing that we had to start
Maybe you had too much too fast
Maybe you had too much too fast
Maybe you had too much too fast
Or just over played your part
[Chorus]
Nothing shaking on Shakedown Street
Used to be the heart of town
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart
You just got to poke around
YESS:) One of my favorite new bands doing one of my favorite old songs; this makes me happy:)
Heard this on the radio not knowing who it was---yes! UMO. Sweet!
If Prince had replaced Jerry Bear!
I would love to hear them do the extended Erotic City or the entire Purple Rain album.
Bring back the awesome video for this, wtf
So funky. So great. long live the dead
Each band on this album NAILS it. This is a sick jam. Maybe the darkness from your eyes....you know you got such dark eyes...Bass!!!!!!!!
What albums is this from? A covers one? Because I want to hear it.
My favorite band covers my other favourite band, what‘s not to like? Love this version
Chill hippy disco, this works.
Love the cover, just cause I loved grateful dead and what UMO is influenced by to begin with
Im a fan, but Idk if I like their new stuff as much. groovy tho
Woooooo this rules. What a combo!
This is an absolutely INCREDIBLE cover! Can't wait for the full album!
Valeu Ronca Ronca 🇧🇷
I love everything about this.
This is so fucking good.
Now we talking!!
What a fantastic jam,,,
Awesome work guys. I hope to see you ripping the scene apart 10 years from now just as you do now !
What happened to the original video for this track? It was so good and nowhere to be found now.
yes!
Wonderful
Can't wait to watch y'all get down to this on TV :)
Thanks for uploading it! I missed it
Suena chingonsisimo!
Dam this album is going to be amazing
Dayum
Grateful Dead's original version is a classic, but I think I might prefer this cover
I thought it was just going to be one song. This is dope.
Anyone know what happened to the original video. Was it too awesome fore the internet?
earthbound music?
Somehow the butter has smiling psychedelic springs in it. A loaf of bread, a quart of Milk and a stick of butter.
Sounds like Chocolate and Cheese era Ween
woah
I dig this like a hole!
hee hee, Fair play, kept the feel but upped the funk.
Interesting version
if you ever wanna see me dance poorly; play this song.
Why is this better than the original
Dank
What happened to the music video for this??
Does anyone know what happened to the original video?
Does anybody know what happened to the music video?
Idk too :(
on conan tonite june 7th
who made the liquid light show?
Anyone know if this is available on vinyl anywhere? Thanks.
Dark tourist?
what effects is he using to get that almost synth like guitar riff at the end? or is it a synth :O
yungsavagesleeper It could be a Synth9 by Electro-Harmonix. Not sure.
pretty sure its a fuzz pedal, put through a small stone phaser or univibe clone.
Mahàlaxmi katha
This doesn't come close to DSO or JRAD versions.
A better song when the the drums are on the one
The bass line sounds like it's running away from being buttered by the guitar. He's like "That shit ain't Irish Kerry Gold. It's PARKAY!!!!!!" Maybe I had to much to fast. I better cool it down.
woah, the mix is so not UMO
+Sam France Very Multi-Love sounding! Loving it
+Kostas Papadopoulos definitely sounds umo, the only difference i hear is this one was done digital and the records were all done analog.
+Kostas Papadopoulos Guys, are you kidding me? This is not even close to Multi Love mixing/mastering wise. Here it's super clean and you can hear all the different layers like a top 50 song. I'm not saying it's bad thing, it's just different.
+Sam France I'm on the fourth floor
Yup I think you're right, straight into the computer on this one maybe? Sounds like a drum loop (which is fine). I'm actually kinda digging that UMO and Silicon are starting to melt together into some kind of amorphous new thing - check out the new UMO single "First World Problem" to hear what I mean.
This is what happens when The Chipmunks hang around black musicians
and smoke pot.
I got here from JoJo
To be honest, I really want to like this cover, but I really don't. I'm not too sure why.
The Dead sucked and will always suck.
No amount of drugs could ever convince me that any of their music was worth my time to listen to.
It takes a band as good as UMO to make one of their songs actually be awesome.
+tubebeaver1 I'm not sayin I'm some deadhead but dude Jerry Garcia played some amazing guitar just as good as other great players like Clapton or somebody, the dead explored so many styles and made those styles their own as well, UMO is influenced by the grateful dead and plenty other bands of that era it seems and I love their songs too because I like those styles of music that have all branched off each other, sorry for my rant
+tubebeaver1 and music has nothing to do with drugs
Fill your dumb beaver with that tube. Your opinion means nothing. Your taste is questionable. Your knowledge is limited.
Yeah, right?! I actually had the temerity to express an opinion I formulated based on 40 years of active listening. How dare I demonstrate any kind of individuality or ability to discern mediocre music from the truly sublime. Next time I say anything about music, I’ll make sure I’ve got legions of people who all like the same thing for reasons they can’t even clearly express backing me up! Thanks! Long live the Mean Hippies!
tubebeaver1 well il speak for any decent fan of music and tell you that you don't know what you are talking about
this is horrible
