This makes me want to throw on my long coat and take a train ride in Toronto while watching the world pass me by. Classic and timeless song; I have so many memories attached to it.
Holy shit balls. Shane has definitely been working on his singing. He sounded amazing on every track, and every track was better than the last...not sure what my favorite is yet besides all of them. 9.5/10
The incredible thing about this song is that it doesn't necessarily have to be about Toronto. It could be about anyone's home town, the people they knew growing up, and how everything's changed since they've been gone. My home town has never been the same since I left for college four years ago.
this song strikes a very personal chord with me, Growing up here, moving away and coming back home. Nothing compares to the hatred and love i have for this city. Everything changes so quickly, yet nothing seems to change at all. Toronto will forever remain home in my heart. Moving away to Vancouver made me miss this shithole year after year i was gone. As much as i hate it i can never escape here. This song expresses that feeling more perfectly than i ever could.
I'm from Russia and this song perfectly describes how I feel toward my home country. "But I’m just passing through Barely a guest, a stranger in my own home".
This is going to be my sad song before I leave for winniepeg good bye Toronto thanks for taking care of me for many years I love you, and I hope one day I'll drop back in again.
Having just listened to the whole thing, I think I could happily rank this as my 2nd favourite Silverstein album under Discovering the Waterfront. Fantastic, truly.
GallifreyRises I'm right there with you! Discovering the Waterfront and This Is How The Wind Shifts have been tied for 1st for me and this is probably my next favorite right now and could creep up to tie with those guys.
SilversteinRescue both of them are beautifully put together, they are the albums that have to be fully listened to, otherwise you find yourself wanting more. I also have to nominate Arrivals and Departures for the top 3 for sure. That album is a nice tempo change and I feel like it it has some really hard hitting songs on it. Really though, this band has been stellar in every album they have pumped out, and its amazing hearing how much more evolved the are becoming with each new album.
Seriously. This album got bumped to the 2nd place in my top 3 of them. First being discovering the waterfront and A shipwreck in the sand, respectively. But they're all great to listen to.
This album, it's just too perfect... Dear Silverstein, I first listened to you in 2005 when I was in middle school and changed my life. The music seriously never disappoints. I'll keep buying your albums to keep supporting more music in the future!!
You know I have to go back to the place I hate the most. Long ago it used to help me grow, Always kept me feeling safe from coast to coast. Lock the gates at night and don’t set my place, I won’t be back to see how the snow covers leaves. I counted down the hours until I found a shortcut home to you, But I’m just passing through, Barely a guest, a stranger in my own home. I'm back in Toronto, but just til tomorrow, That's when the bleeding stops again. Put off all the feelings, forget all the meanings, Just let it cycle through my head. We’re spinning again, the sinning is innocent, Until we realize that we're back in Toronto once again. You kicked and screamed until you met your defeat And slammed the door behind me, where you stood for weeks. I spent all night pretending I was alright, I justified, I planned, but I know deep inside I can’t withstand temptation by your hand. I'm back in Toronto, but just til tomorrow, That's when the bleeding stops again. Put off all the feelings, forget all the meanings, Just let it cycle through my head. We’re spinning again, the sinning is innocent, Until we realize that we're back in Toronto once again. Back home, Liberty, cutting through the park I see everything has changed except for me. This place is called home but I’ve never been so scared To face the cold, breathe in the truth from the air. This place is called home, but from Kensington to Dee’s, Everything I pass it plants a seed. And it takes me back to a time when all I had Was a cloud over my head, weights on my feet. This place is called home but it’s not where I will stay, It’s all temporary, I know I’ll never move away, But I know this city will always feel strange, This city is a stranger to me.
The album was amazing, after listening to it all, it's so amazing, but then this song came up. No words can describe how amazing this is. WOW! Also, we need an acoustic album from these guys. They do it the best!
Silverstein has been one of my favorite bands since I was a teenager and as I get older and make music of my own I can't help but come back and listen to these guys and feel inspired all over again. They are still as good as they were when i first heard them and this song in particular just hits so home. Beautiful guys!!
So happy to see Shane's vocal progression over the years listening to them! My first album hearing them was Discovering the Waterfront and I've memorized all of their songs since. This one is beautiful.
They played this in Michigan on the 31st, they were so great along with coldrain, emarosa, being as an ocean and the other band that was there. 10/10 would see them again live
after almost being killed my ex at my home and my parents divorced and visiting my dad in tdot every now and then i can relate to this song so damn hard "I'm back in Toronto, just for tomorrow" "I see everything has changed except me" "This place is called home but I've never been so scared"
I will always love this band, loved their concert at Ace of spades a few months ago especially, they even shouted out me and my nephew because it was our birthday
this song reminds me of a place a grew up. it was such a quite place. as i got older it turned into a busy town with night clubs and bars. its like my hometown never existed.
This album is amazing! My new top four Silverstein albums are: Discovering the waterfront, A shipwreck in the sand, This is how the wind shifts, and I am alive in everything I touch! (in no order)
Holy shit, this isn't meant to hate on them at all. I used to listen to Silverstein a while ago, but they used to have hyper emo-sounding music. This is much better.
Reminded me a bit of that too but there's some other song I'm thinking of. I'll find it eventually, it was from like ten years ago. Honestly I'm starting to think different parts reminds me of like four or so different songs, which is why it originally seemed very familiar. Thanks for the help though :D
I disagree, This Is How The Wind Shifts is their best effort so far. I've been listening to them for about 15 years now, that is, in my opinion, their best album.
Great song by my favorite band but everytime I hear 0:26 to 0:56 I can’t help but think of both No Excused by Alice In Chains and Someone Like You by Adele
+Martin Sosa Dias (Wuwuwuww) Check out Replace You (Acoustic), My Heroine (Acoustic), The End (Featuring Lights), Massachusetts (Acoustic), One Last Dance (Acoustic), Departures (Acoustic), Burning Hearts (Acoustic), and Hide Your Secrets
Matt Sheppard It's got a few of their best songs ever but also a few of their worst, so I'm really torn. I want to love it but right now I think I just like it.
secretivesounds I don't think it has some of their worst songs at all. I think this album is pretty much flawless, it flows so well and is so catchy. One of my favorites already and they've been my all time favorite band for 8 years.
forever and always I will love this band from the beginning till the future.
Tyler Reece +1
I see what ya did there 😃
Tyler Reece pun intended lol nice xD
Yes 👍
This makes me want to throw on my long coat and take a train ride in Toronto while watching the world pass me by. Classic and timeless song; I have so many memories attached to it.
Holy shit balls. Shane has definitely been working on his singing. He sounded amazing on every track, and every track was better than the last...not sure what my favorite is yet besides all of them. 9.5/10
Most beautiful guitar intro riff in an acoustic song ever.
The incredible thing about this song is that it doesn't necessarily have to be about Toronto. It could be about anyone's home town, the people they knew growing up, and how everything's changed since they've been gone. My home town has never been the same since I left for college four years ago.
Such a beautifully written song. I'm not from Canada or have I ever visited Toronto , but I vibe to this amazing song on another location. 😢😢
Being from Toronto makes this hit home 10x more
+Alistair Colville im with yeah on that one.
i will never stop loving this band! God what a sick album! 😍
hope it will become healthy :3
+tom van der stoep ....wow.....
Mar Roux i'm really amazing huh

I’ve listened to this song on repeat for weeks now to help me sleep, hands down one of my favorite songs
This album, it's just too perfect...
Dear Silverstein, I first listened to you in 2005 when I was in middle school and changed my life. The music seriously never disappoints. I'll keep buying your albums to keep supporting more music in the future!!
They played this song last week at a concert in Cologne and I truly cried my eyes out :(
Damn, Shane is a great singer. This song gives my goosebumps of goodness

Talk about a song that is original and can be pulled off so close to perfect. Boom! Here's your example. Silverstein keeps getting better.
That beautiful guitar. Classic Silverstein

Reminded me a bit of that too but there's some other song I'm thinking of. I'll find it eventually, it was from like ten years ago. Honestly I'm starting to think different parts reminds me of like four or so different songs, which is why it originally seemed very familiar. Thanks for the help though :D

Matt Sheppard Songs from 2 to 5 are okay, songs from 6 to 12 are at TIHTWS level.
I must learn the tabs for this song.
Yeah like other people have said in the comments I really can't pin the meaning of the lyrics?
LandMark TTV brought me here!
