      explain them just at the other end, what about America's end...? when you buy home made products you also have to pay tariffs for the American company as they increase prices to pay for those tariffs when they export, and then the get oversized prices benefit from other countries too and YOU get nothing in return, so any company in the world exporting product has is getting money from both ends, do you think they are protecting you?, do your own research, you'll be surprised all the things they lied to you.

    Fact is, tariffs don’t work. Not really. The money collected doesn’t really come from the foreign countries or corporations. They just pass the increased cost to the customers, domestic companies and people. So the tariffs are effectively a federal sales tax on foreign goods. Beyond that, domestic competitors have a huge incentive to raise their prices too, since their foreign competitors can’t lower theirs. So the only ones who benefit from the tariffs are domestic companies who just increase their profits with no need to compete and no danger of having foreign competition undercutting their prices. Tariffs are a lie.

      @JoeBlack14 2 місяці тому +5

      You are not thinking of it the right way. If you put a 10% tariff on foreign goods and lower taxes here 10% on goods. The consumer doesn't see a difference right away, the price doesn't change. What does change is the government is collecting more taxes from the foreign countries, while collecting less at home. This allows USA companies to compete with lower prices for the same product, because consumers are not being charged that extra 10%. It sparks local business as well as creating/supporting many jobs for Americans. Seems obvious which one would benefit Americans more.

    • @micalishis
      @micalishis Місяць тому +7

      @@JoeBlack14 But as they said in the video, a lot of American manufacturing still uses imported materials, meaning that their manufacturing costs would go up too and that even buying American-made products would be more expensive.
      Also, you can't just "buy American-made". There are a lot of industries where American manufacturing just straight up isn't set up yet, or at least not to the point of being able to handle the entire population of the country. So you're going to have a lot of people who will still need to rely on imported goods, whether they like it or not.
      Even if the end goal is to eventually be self-sustainable and not rely on imported goods so much, it's going to take a while to get there, and a lot of people are going to be paying more in the meantime.

    The country you impose the tariff on will suffer for a period of time in the form of lay off of workers, decrease of manufacturing, wage freeze and so on. No, they won't increase GDP, foreign companies working at your market also count towards GDP. By giving the monopoly (and tariffs is exactly that: a monopoly or a subsidy to domestic companies) to local companies we will see falling supply of those goods, which will cause something exactly opposite to a growth, called decline if all other factors are equal.

      Sacchi focusing too much on welfare spoils the population and makes them ineffective and clips human creativity but that does not mean that welfare is not at all important , not everything has to be spoonfed , somethings are to be earned. Yea agreed that further increase in military budget is not needed but it is this huge budget that enables and promotes Innovation , invention and startups through the military that in return helps the general population . This internet , wireless communication , GPS and many medicines were meant for the military at first but now it benefits the citizens and makes their life easier .Productive Investment in the Military is the reason why the US leads in technology and space race

    Isn't buying locally made goods and reducing unnecessary shipping better for the planet? I kinda worry that a lot of manufacturers go to China to circumvent American environmental, health, and labor laws. So, encouraging people to buy locally made goods actually seems a bit more humane, healthier, and more environmentally friendly?

    • @zigoter2185
      @zigoter2185 2 роки тому

      It isn't, because China can sell those at a lower price, because they work more efficiently, than domestic producers. So to import goods from China is less wasteful, than to make those in the USA.

    Well this was very factual and straightforward reporting at "The United States has the lowest tariffs in the world". Then it became an opinion piece. I really like the English guy please bring him back, very straightforward and factual and hides his bias well. Why don't you do a story on which presidents are to blame for keeping our Tariffs too low so we could over-inflate our economy? Or maybe how short-term shareholder gain is to blame for all of our outsourcing. Just the facts please.

    Still have no idea who pays the extra money. Does the importer pay the extra $12 for a 12% tariff while the exporter receives the $100? Or does the importer pay $100 and the exporter pays the $12? In other words, who pays the duties to the Treasury?

TBH American Democracy and freedom is under attack and both the parties got infiltrated by the Chinese and the Russians . • @zigoter2185
      @zigoter2185 2 роки тому

      How exactly mutually beneficial trade makes money "come out of our pockets"?
      How restriction of such trade will result in economic growth? Think about it. If USA has companies at manufacturing, which exist because of protectionism, that means that they wouldn't have existed otherwise. But there is a problem with that. Those companies are not as effective as Chinese are, which means that their goods cost more and have worse quality. Consumer suffers from that. If protectionism wasn't imposed, those resources would go into something that is actually more profitable and effective, meaning that consumers would have access to cheap Chinese goods + whatever those resources went into.

    All Americans need to know about tariffs is that it is a US Federal tax on Americans who import anything. As far as Canada goes, if Canada wants to stop this nonsense, all it needs to do is take EU up on joining it, and the US will be screwed.
