    I didn't know male rhytmic gymnastics excisted. They are flexible and it's amazing what they do and that they have the courage to do that. I mean it's not usual. But it's true women can do more. Just the way how their body is built. They have more flexibility than men, but that doesn't say anything about how amazing it is what these men are doing.

    • @GymnasticsParadise
      @GymnasticsParadise  7 років тому +8

      Well said! :D Although men are not far off in flexibility than women which this proves. Just like how women, when training the same as men with similiar amount of talent, are *slightly* more flexible men are *slightly* stronger due to body build, BUT most men in artistic gymnastics and other sports are handled as if incapable of anything flexible. The males in my gym[artistic gymnastics] hold splits for TEN seconds on the FLOOR while we, girls, hold our oversplits for 2 + mins then they say how men are unflexible. *Rubs temples* It's frustrating

      It is fair to note that we have had men's rhythmic gymnastics for over 70 years here in Japan, where the Japanese version developed as a combination of Swedish, Danish and German gymnastics. However, for individual gymnasts the apparatus are a bit different (double rings (45 cm), stick, clubs, and rope) and in group performances, no apparatus are used. Performances are scored on difficulty and execution of tumbling, required elements (stag handstand, balance pose, etc.), originality and more. To see more of our Japanese Men's RG, please follow OUEN MRG channel.

    When I was a little boy I tried gymnastics. I had good flexibility but not speed, and my coach said I wasn't cut out for regular gymnastics. I could do well in rhythmic gymnastics, but it's only for girls. I was like, "what the f***! why do girls get to have all the fun?" I think our society is wrong to confine men only to the category of strength and speed. Men and women can both be strong and muscular, but also can both be elegant and graceful.

    I'm up for male rhythmic gymnastics, and it to attatched to the bases of the sport but at the same time it need to be adapted to the men physical charachteristics, most of the male teens, boys and men that competes on RG doesn't achieve the same amount of flexibility not just for being men but because they start late in the sport compared to the girls, but surely they could achieve more, and for everybody that says that RG is not meant for men please let me remind you that a lot of leap, balances and rotations elements are taken from male ballet, hopefully somedays men find their space and respect in RG and SW :D

    I dont know if a lot here knows but I did some research about this and Men Rythmic Gymnastics exist in Japan since 1940s I think. They hold national and international competitions there. Universities have men rg teams and they compete for nationwide and international competitions. Countries like Canada, Australia and Korea, etc. (just from various continents) are invited over for the international competitions I believe.
    Flight and tumbling is permitted since martial arts is more incorporated in the routines and sports itself. It's developed in Japan to improve men's overall health after all.
    They have different apparatus than female rythmic gymnastics. They have clubs (bigger than females'), rings, rope and stick. There is only one video uploaded here in youtube and it consists of the 4 champions in the 4 diff apparatus. You guys should definitely check it out, their routines are amazing.
    I know a lot practices in Spain as well but there's not much competition as regular in Japan and they do the same routines as females unlike Japan. It has been debated since 2012 I guess (its the earliest article i found) if men rg should be included in the Olympics. Some wants for the sport to remain as female-only while others are open to it, especially that they are also taking it to the fight for gender equality. But due to the lack of interest and participants worldwide, it cant be recognized by FIG and be considered to the Olympics. Japan cant promote it that well also due to communication issues.

    • @GymnasticsParadise
      @GymnasticsParadise  7 років тому +11

      Yay! SOMEONE who knows :D! Yes, you are correct ^^'' I just wanted to show that they can be graceful and do what is the usual "female" only thing. Personally, I'd like it if men's RG had some flight elements seeing how amazingly done it can be + it'd probably make it slightly more popular. Women's can remain the same[Just a personal opinion]. Also, if he can perform aerials then he can perform usual front walkover just as good etc... :D

      Gymnastics Paradise that’s not a good idea. Rhythmic gymnastics should not have flight. If men are going to do this sport, they should at least do it how it is originally done.

    Great idea but it isn't aesthetically pleasing to watch. Other women also complaining that men can't do certain elements unless cheating. If men's rhythmic gymnastics were different than women's it could be made to better suit male performance. If they use different apparatus, for example a staff & are expected to do challenging routines & poses that are more fitting for a man then it wouldn't make our eyes burn.

    • @carrotjamcake6979

      Search Japan male rythmic gymnastics. It's different than female gymnastics and martial arts is adapted more. Aerials are also allowed.
      Plus men can be graceful, too. Search "Yuzuru Hanyu". He's not a gymnast but he's a world class ice figure skater. Since figure skating and gymnastics both do ballet, I guess he's the best example there is. Japan male gymnasts aren't that known.

      Women are good at football and basketball, aren't they~?
      Just like that, men can be good at rhythmic gymnastics. Of course, only the most hard working ones will become truly lovely in competitions just like women. So I fail to see the point? Women , at a low lv, can be just as bad as unflexible men. :/

      Okay. Since basketball, baseball, and football are male dominated sports, then women should not play them. Also, artistic gymnastics started and was ONLY for men, but women were eventually allowed to compete and then began being recognized.

    I am going to be bashed for this but men SHOULD NOT be doing this. They are ruining the original form of rhythmic gymnastics. I am a rhythmic gymnast and Aerials are forbidden. They are corrupting our beautiful sport. I mean, it’s good that they can be this flexible and they are talented, but they really shouldn’t be doing rhythmic gymnastics. Seriously. Open your eyes.

    • @GymnasticsParadise

      I think what this video is trying to say is that we have to have same opportunity for males to be recognised as a rythmic gymnast.Women can do basketball, baseball and whatever manly sport you have. I am giving my 100% support to the guys doing this stuff. Not that it would matter though. It's like appreciating what a human body can do and testing it to its limits. not to mention the creativity :). But I also get your point. I just like to give everyone an equal opportunity.

      Gymnastics Paradise Even then, I think it’s not a good idea to add men. I mean, Chris Narsico you have a great point, but I think m n shouldn’t be doing this. It’s better to just have women.

      @ctnarsico 6 років тому +2

      Well yeah you have a point. Maybe People from FIG can create rules for Mens Rythmic Gymnastics. I have been watching Japanese Men and their abilities are great. What I am trying to point is that we can set new rules and COP for the mens. But I do really get your point that your are trying to convey. Maybe the Men's category can follow the Men's Ballet (which is for me very manly) or whatever just anything to appreciate Men with their athletic ability and creativity of their body movements. :)
