  • Kohei Ogawa: 2015 All-Japan Champion. He has elegance and fluidity as well as high tumbling skills and strength. He performed on a Russian TV show in May 2018, and is currently a member of "Michael Jackson ONE" by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas.
    Naoya Nagai: He is one of the most beloved gymnasts ever. The uniqueness and originality of his routines amazed the audience and even judges. He used to be called "uncrowned king", but in 2017, he won the title of national champion.
    Yuga Usui: His power, strength, and masculinity show what Men's RG should be. Not only that, he has unrivaled expertise in apparatus handling. He won the "All-Japan Championship" in 2016, and even after graduating from college, he keeps competing in major competitions until now.
    Shoji Fukunaga: As well as his flawless apparatus handling, speed and accuracy in his routines enabled him to win his first all-around national title in 2018. He is also a person of great character: modest, gentle, and earnest.

    [Men's Rhythmic Gymnastics] Men’s rhythmic gymnastics (MRG) is a sport invented in Japan nearly 70 years ago. There are two variations of MRG, individual (where gymnasts perform solo with one of four apparatus) and team, which focuses on tumbling, flexibility, balance, and synchronization. Today there are nearly 2,000 men’s rhythmic gymnasts active in Japan, from junior clubs up through top universities.

Not only are these athletes incredibly strong, agile, elastic and resilient, but they have the grace, elegance and sense of rhythm of classical dancers. How this marvel isn't in the Olympics is beyond logic, as it is truly awe-inspiring.

    I don't know why there are many people refusing to call this Rhythmic Gymnastics. I think, this is because of the pre-acrobatic and borderline MAG qualities here. For me, this is the brand of RG that will really appeal to the male demography. Women's RG is for women demography and athletes, so it is created to make the women attracted to the sport. Rhythmic is expression through movement, i.e. dance. The Dance, Difficulty and Mastery is different from WRG but there is s story being thread by the routine. On the other hand, the Group Men's RG reminds me of Acrobatic Gymnastics without the balance element. If there will be apparatus there also, it will be much better. Anyway, the COD could be modified to define the Men's RG that will fit for everyone. ~This is just my opinion.~

      Women and male artistic gymnastics has different apparatus and hence some differences at work but the base for both gymnastics comes from the same place, whereas this Japanese male rhythmic gymnastics work base has little to do with regular rhythmic gymnastics work, what sets rhythmic gymnastics apart from the other gymnastics modalities is their body work and yes the apparatus handling, one of the characteristics of RG is the lack of acrobatic elements and a few approved preacrobatic elements to ensure the fact RG work enlightens the plasticity of the body as well their insane flexibility, because yeah that's right rhythmic gymnast are the more flexible gymnasts of the whole modalities, as other characteristics enlights the other gymnastics modalities, well in RG the enlighting comes from their flexibility and mastery with the apparatus

    This is very good, but it’s not really rhythmic gymnastics. Some of the skills like the flips aren’t apart of the rhythmic gymnastics sport. Even though there might be some similarities between what you guys are doing and rhythmic gymnastics, I don’t think this should be classified as RG. I like this but I prefer Spanish one since you use flexibility more and you can do jumps, balances and turns. I think that both should have competitions on world level. But I think that Spanish Male rhythmic gymnastics should have competitions on international level since it fits perfectly in original Soviet union rhythmic gymnastics.
    And groups of Japanese male rhythmic gymnastics already have name it's acrobatic gymnastics. Which confirms that Spanish rhythmic gymnastics fits in more

    • @patem7379
      @patem7379 3 роки тому +3

      male rhythmic gymnastics from Spain it's more faithful to the base of the sport and it's the one that actually it's enduring the worst backlash ever, specially if we realize those guys work hard on their own because despite their recognised by the spanish federation the financial support they receive it's the minimal, so invest on their trainings, coaching, apparatus, leotards etc, comes from their own money, family and friends support, yes there's a huge difference between the guys and girls ability to perform body difficulties but the guys usually has a later start in RG and by many reasons most of them cannot train the same amount of time like the girls, but hopefully they will overcome all of this some time

    • @OuenMRG
      @OuenMRG  3 роки тому +5

      Thank you for your comment. We understand and appreciate your opinion. Let us just give you a piece of information you may not know. In Japan, this style of gymnastics for men has been done for almost 70 years. It is so old that nobody knows how it started exactly. In other words, Japanese men's RG has different roots from girls' RG. After girls' RG was adopted into Olympic games however, both styles of RG were given the same name, which literally means "new gymnastics" in Japanese. That's why we have both men and women RG in this country, and we have competitions for boys and girls at the same venue. Maybe men's RG should have different name other than rhythmic gymnastics, but please understand that it doesn't mean they don't respect what girls have been doing.

    • @mcmoon_
      @mcmoon_ 3 роки тому +3

      @@OuenMRG Thanks for the information! I truly didn't know about all that you just said.. Sorry if my comment was too mean.
      These boys are insane and talented, of course I appreciate their style, they have so much difficulty, it look clean, beautiful and they know what they are doing.
      I am not against boys doing rhytmic gymnastics but I think there is an issue... What can we call "male rhytmic gymnastics"?
      Probably my opinion is biased because I watch rhytmic gymnastics since a lot time ago But I think they should change the name...
      So I think that we should try to differentiate one from another...
      I think we could say that the real rhytmic gymnastics is just on the floor... or maybe not? And what about the apparatus? These boys are using others apparatus while many boys who compete for example in Spain use the same as girls and it it more close to female rhytmic gymnastics...
      In the other hand I think It could be something like
      Artistic gymnastics, in this sport the things are different if you are a men or a girl so this could be the same for RG and it should not be any problem... Boys could have a "different" style and apparatus but the thing is that there are many boys doing rhytmic gymnastics like the girls, like I tell you before, in Spain and they even have a tournament.
      This is getting confusing...
      I don't even know what to conclude... Probably this even doesn't make any sense at all because probably both male and female style of RG were born at the same time... Or I don't know which came first...
      What do you think that could be the solution for this??
      What should be considered as male RG? should male RG follow the "female version"? When should just change the name? What was first male RG or female RG?
      Again Thank u so much for the information, I think It was really rude to talk about this sport without knowing anything about it.
      Hope that you can understand my point, since English is no my first language I don't know if you could truly understand, I speak Spanish.

    • @OuenMRG
      @OuenMRG  3 роки тому +3

      @@mcmoon_ Thank you very much for your polite reply (far from being mean at all!) We understand your point very well.

Your question “should male RG follow the female version?” is one of the most important issues for us, too. Most gymnasts in Japan prefer more masculine type of RG than what girls are doing. Let me give you an example in artistic gymnastics. Women use music for floor routines while men don’t. Although both men and women are competing under the name “artistic gymnastics”, women have uneven parallel bars or balance beam, while men have rings and parallel bars.
      Such difference is based on the physical difference between men and women. Japanese gymnasts think different style of RG (including tumblings for men, using different apparatus) should be allowed, and most of all, such style RG for men has been done for 70 years in Japan and there are more than 1500 male gymnasts actively involving in this sport.
      We know there are male rhythmic gymnasts doing exactly the same style of RG in Spain. They should be allowed to continue what they are doing now. Both styles of RG are beautiful and good in itself. Perhaps diversity and generosity may be what we need most now :)
