Good advice, Kai. Issues that I have with scaling are: Targeting production/media companies is crucial. They likely have a drone pilot but specializing in the craft of FPV will help you stand out. These types of clients will likely become reoccurring instead of going to a local business who may only need the work from you once or twice in a year. Determine the service fee. Too low, and clients will assume that your service isn't quality. Too high and you limit the who will be willing to pay a premium fee. I am constantly battling trying to determine what my service and expertise is worth, and there aren't many people in my city that do it to reference from. Clients are often looking for more than just FPV, so purchasing a DJI drone, and buying a good camera and gimbal has been equally as important for me (although not necessarily a requirement). Starting a drone business in cold climates is difficult, winter slows down drastically unless you shift your focus toward winter specific events / activities in order to maintain income. Always look forward to your vids bro! Glad to see you are healthy again.
Wow, these are all extremely valuable additional insights, especially the production company targeting tip. Glad to hear that a lot of what I’m doing and going through is similarly oriented, I believe that means we are doing something right!! Thank you so much for leaving this comment Connor! And I am doing much better every day, thank you for checking up 😆🙏🏼
THIS WAS AN AWESOME VIDEO!!! I have been flying for a while and only for fun but the thought of making money has crossed my mind LOL. you really gave some good advice here and I think I will start working towards that starting with signing up for the license and creating some videos for my own portfolio to show off. Love your videos Kai keep up the great work.
Of course Oleh! From what I see, you already know how to make videos, you have extensive knowledge of quads and from your thumbnails it looks like you already are developing a brand language! If it's something you want, I have no doubt you could find amazing, rewarding pilot work in record time. Please keep me updated with the journey!
You kept popping up on my UA-cam app and this video earned you my sub. Your a good dude for sharing this info with us. Seen some of your work and it's dope. I have a dji avata that I got a couple months ago. I purchased it for fun and haven't flown it much because of a busy life although after seeing your videos over and over I am starting to feel inspired to make something out of this drone. Maybe a drone gig can help me work less at my job. Currently working 95 hours per week in order to make it. I have no life outside of work. I better put my avata in the air more often and ditch the motion controller in order to get better and more comfortable with it. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated.
Thank you! Your presentation has no bullshit, no fluffs, very dense, practical, and to the point. It’s refreshing. Keep up the good work. I look forward to see more of your videos. 👏👏 👏🤟
Really love the video. I'm barley stepping onto the scene of videography. I'm not currently doing FPV drone stuff just browsing seeing what its all about but stumbling across your video really put things into perspective and lit a fire under me. So thanks for the inspiration hope you get all the future endeavors you want you deserve them.
brilliant mind set. i'm in my early 30s now and was no where near your maturity back in my early 20s. i used to do fpv but i quit a few years back. now ive come back to it with a focus on real estate house tours. got me a dji 03 in a cinelog20 which is all new to me having used analog and a big 3.5 inch done in the past. thanks for this tip video. subed too.
That means a lot Dena, thank you for sharing. It's good to meet you, real estate has to be one of the most valuable market skills, so I am excited to see how you combine that with FPV!
hey, i am a new bio-engineer. while working on a project i was watching this video and just wanted to say thanks for keeping me on task while over hearing your accomplishments.
I’m actually super impressed you found something so obscure during your studies, your curiosity knows no bounds! Thank you for watching Stephon, I appreciate you. Good luck on your project, hope to see you around again!
Of course William! You've got the skills already, once you've got that certification the gates will be opened to you. Best of luck man, keep us updated!
great video. i been documenting my fpv journey through uploading my videos to my youtube channel. i really just doing it for me and to show family my progress . i hope to get paying work someday though..but im getting stuck with something as simple as the title and description of my videos..
My friend, you are already doing what separates the successful from the rest.. and that's showing up. The fact that you are posting multiple videos puts you ahead of the curve. If you follow the tips I give at 10:24, you'll learn quickly how to improve your videos so they start getting traction and found by the right people. It's only by stopping that we can lose. Hey Kai, Im 14 bought a dji V2 Goggle and built a drone with my dad. Been practicing alot and hope to start earning money soon. Thanks For the video and keep up the good work.
Max, this is incredible, congrats on your first build!! You've got such a great head-start, and you and your dad make a great team. You're going to do amazing things, keep going!!
Thank you so much Dom, it makes me really happy to hear this. I appreciate you watching, and for leaving such a kind comment! I'll be uploading again soon, hope to see you around :)
Thank you so much. I just got my faa license and this keeps me going. I have 2 questions maybe you can help with? How are you allowed to fly the drone with fpv googles (I'm guessing there is a waiver)? And what fpv drones would you recommend for chasing cars?
Hi Kai. Thanks for the video. I'd like your singihts. Since I got started flying drones last year I into cinematography of sailing races and taking pictures for skippers/boat owners. Sadly very little traction there. Then looked into mapping, practiced and did some mapping, aiming to do it for construction companies. The more I read about it the more I figure out that just isn't me. I don't see myself talking to the construction companies as I don't feel I can deliver good data with confidence. Now I'm a bit stuck and don't know how to proceed, if at all. What would you recommend?
Kai! Thanks for sharing, what’s a good fpv to start of with? I’ve have a DJI mavic air that I’ve been toying with for the past 2 years, but I’m thinking of going FPV.
Hey Kai, I look your advice and I hope this makes you proud I landed and completed my first big gig! Things are moving fast and snowballing like an avalanche! You're a true inspiration.
Thank you so much! I actually am using the DJI mic with a lavalier extension (you can see it clipped to my shirt). I've noticed it gets significantly better audio than the onboard camera mics and even shotgun! Highly recommend looking into lavalier mics
Did you use fusion in davinici resolve to make that skill triangle animation? Also, you have just sparked my need to learn to fly! It will be such an amazing skill to add to my UA-cam portfolio!
Hey Kyle, thank you so much! I am so happy my video sparked something in you. I can't take credit for that graphic, that was my friend @RogerVisuals who helped me co-edit and make all the awesome graphics you see in this video. Feel free to reach out to him if you have questions! :)

Hi Kai .. do you have or recommend an i nav full build & programing radio for it that include speedy bee f7 ? Or any other fc that similar to it ? Thanks man 👌🏻
Dude, I've been trying to get top golf to respond to me for so long 🤣 sick that you got them as a client! I'm about 6 months into the process of turning the hobby into a profession and it's DEFINITELY been a different type of work than I was expecting. I'm basically a salesman 90% of the time (for now). Sweet video
That's a good description Jacob 😆 I am also definitely on the computer or phone way more than I am flying nowadays, but that makes the time flying so much more rewarding and worth it. Keep building your relationships and crazy jobs are going to just pop up out of nowhere, I guarantee it! Thank you for the love man, best of luck!
Hey, im looking to start fpv but im on a budget. i already have a descent pair of goggles and a radio but i need a drone. do you have any recommendations for 150-200 bucks? btw im going to fly freestyle and not for racing
Hi. When you chasing the car with drone and the car goes longer distance and behind obstacles so there is no possibility of being out of the car that is chased. how i should avoid video feed loss because of car itself? is there any way to put the antenas outside of the car or something?
i dont want to be pilot just yet i would like to fix UAV from small scale helicopters to the ones you fly. How can i get more involved without going to schoo
I’ve been flying for a year and won 2nd place on a group race at IO. However, I’m only 13 and unable to get my part 107. Do you think there is any way for commercial flight?
^ Yes this is correct! Forgot to mention that in the US you are technically required to have a part 107 license to do fly commercially (make any money at all from flying).

how i should avoid video feed loss because of car itself? is there any way to put the antenas outside of the car or something?
90% of what we do is business, 10% might be FPV/Aerials/Video/Photography.
Quite an accurate description over here too 😆need to start looking to automate or delegate the logistics to balance out these ratios haha
