“Do not shove it in the hole” sounds pretty bad per se. Just kidding! Great content, new subscriber here

Thank you! That may have been intentional, maybe.

Thanx for the info! I noticed that you have a couple of Crate amps.....right on. I play harmonica and have a couple of Crate tube amps (Vintage Club 50 and a Palomino 16). I've been playing for many years and have tried a bunch of amps. There is no better amplifier for harmonica.

Very cool! Happy to help! I have been using my Crate cab with my Mesa Triple rec forever! I had a full Mesa Boogie 4x12 cabinet, and I preferred the 2x12 crate!

Hello enjoyed the video! I want to assume that if we use two mics they should be equally distant from the cajon correct?

    Amazing video!
Would you look to flip the phase on one of the mics if you have one on the front, one on the back?

Thank you! Absolutely! It's always good to check you phase when you have 2 mics on an instrument!

I watched another UA-cam before yours. He laid a 57 inside the cajon. The snare crack and rattle are missing from his recording. I'll mic it your way, when my band records its cajon.

I used to do that when I first started mic'ing Cajons, but I was never happy with the attack I was getting. Once I started mic'ing the front, I never looked back! Also, putting a mic inside of it in a live situation creates all kinds of problems. Let me know how it turns out for you!

When micing the cajon in our band the percussionist has a vocal mic aswell - Mixing it always causes issues feedback. My thoughts are that is caused by 3 mics in close proximity. Generally we have an Audix D6 on the Back and SM57 on front with an SM58 vocal mic. Do yu have any advice to deal with this?

It could be a couple things. I am assuming the feedback you are getting is high pitched and not low end resonance? Is the feed back coming from the mains or floor wedges? Most feedback can be cured by moving the mics/monitors or ringing out the system. Another thing that I have started doing is giving the drummer a headset mic, which keeps the bleed into the vocal mic down.

With a front bass port - How would a 57 at the top and Beta 52 at the bottom near the bass port sound?

I love the low end on the Beta52. Can't go wrong with that combo!

@@mattingramsound would this create any feedback concerns with two mics on the front? Any tips to limit feedback?

Well sorry too much missingformation in the first 1 min of video,
First that is not a cajon, second there are over 12 basic different cajon styles and 32 variations, The drum came after the Cajon cause they wanted more, etc etc etc,
If you have a Cajon “wood box” don’t need no mic,
Y’all are trying to make the cajon a drum set and the simple thing is. A drummer can never be a cajon player!
