I’m a brand new student in college studying massage therapy. I heard that the average career span for a RMT is 5-8 years is that true? Is it more likely for males in the field to have a longer career? Also what’s your opinion on male massage therapists building their cliental

I’ve been in for 12 years now and I feel like I could go on forever honestly. It is slightly harder to build but also depends on where you live. I had all these concerns too in the beginning but if you enjoy the career you’ll find a way. Enjoy school, work hard, and try to put yourself in a good busy spot once you graduate

BRIAN IT'S A MYTH, NO SUCH THING AS A ROSTER OF CLIENTS AT YOUR BECKING CALL, THEY COME AND GO WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT, SOME COME ONCE, OTHERS ONCE A WEEK , OTHERS ONCE A MONTH, SOME DON'T COME EVER AGAIN

Exactly. I did massage though I am not a lmt. I learned by video and took classes. Clients come and go. None come often. Impossible to build a great following. A lot of guys just want a happy ending. I didn’t pursue much.

I’ve heard of some surgeons removing piriformis muscle when it pinches sciatic nerve. It looks so relieving when done

Yikes, you can't use your finger tips like this for hours and hours a week. An elbow and body weight would be better.

It’s not like your going to use this technique all the time. I’ve been going for many years using it. It gets more specific

Fair enough, I’ve never had an issue 13 years in though. It’s all personal preference really

@@massagewithmike Wow, you must have fingers of steel. That was the first thing they taught us in school. To be as relaxed as possible and not to use your fingers. Fingers are for gripping.

@@massagewithmike If it works for you and your clients I say keep doing it. My fingers can't do it. That was another thing they told us, if you do use your fingers, you won't long because you will have problems. I also probably just have weak hands. I did it for fifteen years and haven't done it in ten years now. My wife begs for work all the time and I help family or friends if needed.
