- Milking time at Glenapp - A costal farm in south Ayrshire. The farm covers 12,350 acresThe dairy herd is made up of 200 Jerseys cows which are cross bred to the New Zealand FrIesian (LIC), 450 Cross bred cows which are bred to LIC New Zealand Crossbred Bulls and 150 British Fresians bred to LIC New Zealand Jersey Bulis
More than 200 foundation animals were sourced from the Isle of Jersey, owing to the island operating a closed herd breeding policy, with Jersey young stock being selected from 23 dairy farms.
Other British Friesian and New Zealand type animals were sourced from Ireland, Wales and the Longtown area, in order to provide a foundation cross-breeding programme and capitalise on genetic benefits. The herd is currently averaging 21 litres per cow per day on a twice daily regime and is producing more than 4,000 litres per cow on an annual-basis.
Cows are fed concentrates in the rotary parlour based upon group potential yields of 18, 25 and 30 litres plus per day. Milk quality is a strong feature of the herd and is averaging 4.5% fat and 3.5% protein, with a somatic cell count of 110 and a bactoscan of 34. Milk is collected on a daily-basis by the Fresh Milk Company for cheese-making and annual milk price over the past 12 months has averaged 32p per litre.
This parlour can milk 640 cows in less than 2 hours !
The farm also has a herd of 900 suckler cows and 3500 sheep.Owned by the Inchcape family.Cost of this parlour, new milk tank and cow stalls/cubicles was about £1.2 Million.
This is very interesting. I work on a dairy farm. I love the cows I work with!
Alpha Matrix Alpha-huh?
Alpha Matrix Agreed! Keep up the good work.
Hi this is interesting I wanted to these love farm in Lesotho haw can I have those machines
I want to work with you on dairy farm....can i get a job there?
A lot of farms have these kind of milking stations. It requires less workers, but receives a lot of milk. And who knows, maybe after they are milked they go back to a nice roomy barn. And if this isn't the case, at least they get to eat well.
And plus, being in these small stations while milking means they can't move and have the machines hurt there utters
Jada girl10165 butt hurt much?
This specific farm(glenapp) actually has them out side except for late winter and calving. It does look like it's winter in the video though.
@@Jadagirl-nz6pe Stop spreading misinformation, the clusters don't hurt their udders or else the cows would kick them off!
How much cleaning water would this parlour require on a daily basis.?
Nice and stress free for cows. They like it .Not sure why there are 2 persons to cup on the cows. Usually 2nd one is needed when speed goes over 400 cows per hour. What it is use to back off the cows on exit point at the end of the round?
At which point do they clean the teats prior to attaching the milking clusters?
Wonderful, I like Rotary Dairy parler and I love HF cows thanks to deLaval and UA-cam video clips. From Pondichery-India Bon Lait France
Those cows do look clean and well!
Thats pretty neat how that works but i hope they dont get stuck when the wheel is moving like in the fairlife video
I recently visited an older de-Laval rotary milking plant in New Zealand to advise on a contamination issue. Can anyone explain to me how the milk passes from the clusters on the rotating platform to the milk receiving manifold, which is fixed to the wall of the well on the inside of the machine?
Good question.Don't know the answer !
Lol all the people saying its inhumane. I work in a dairy and the cows are treated very well these cows are a person livelihood they need to care for em
Some people talking are to obnoxious to understand
Another impartial opinion here :) Honorable at least that you disclose you make a living from selling poison MILK :)
Hey Tom I am sure you are a nice fellow, just a little bit arrogant of you to tell me I have no idea. Is it you are an owner of a dairy farm? Or just a poor schill for them? Try reading this Time Magazine article about FDA tests turning up Dairy Farmers breaking the law on antibiotics! Imagine that Tom, they are no different than the corrupt bankers, MIC and other SOBs that will poison/harm you and your family for an extra few percent ROI. Read it: www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/03/08/391248045/fda-tests-turn-up-dairy-farmers-breaking-the-law-on-antibiotics
Also if you are open minded read the following on how milk consumption is correlated with disease, especially CHD and Osteoporosis.
If you all would just stop listening to the sources that are either funded or controlled by INDUSTRY groups you might read the truth:
milk.procon.org/view.answers.php?questionID=000826
Doctors with no investment or no shills like Tom say the following:
www.nutritionmd.org/nutrition_tips/nutrition_tips_understand_foods/dairy.html
Do YOUR OWN RESEARCH and OBSERVATIONS, DO NOT LISTEN TO ME! NOR TO TOM :) HAHAHAHA
David A I'll just stick with farmers' superior choice for news and advice; the local farm paper.
You just can't trust the Internet these days.
TimmyDtv I agree with you
TimmyDtv you need a man who care your cattle farm if you need person please contact me
I hope all animals will outlive mankind soon.
They are still always kind, no matter how they have been abused.
Shame on us what we do to nature.
Shame on lions that eat other animals, how cruel they are.
If we did milking the way our forefathers did, we, humans ,don't have enough time in the day. If the cows are well taken care of and don't get shot up with antibiotics or have udders bleeding pus, that's a pretty good system. You can tell how well the cows are taken care of by the amount of noise they make. Happy Cows, Happy Farmer! Happy people to get their milk!
I love the chocolate milk from the brown cows🥰
I love the chocolate milk from the cows with internal bleeding!
That is some farm. Used to take us that long to milk only 60
Nwmike97
Cows didn't seem bothered to me.... factory workers look more miserable at the start of their shifts! Looks a superb piece of kit.
It's the highlight of their day. At milking time they run to the milking parlour from the pasture.Happy cows for sure
Omg wow incredible xx
Never seen anything like this love it
Big milking parlour. at Glenapp estate Ballantrae
holsteincowboy
Not sure what cross that cow is.Nice colour.if the cluster is kicked off the back gate will stay down and she will go round a second time. They can also divert problem cows into a holding pen when she leaves the parlour
busko tra bajo
Wish we had a milking barn like that in New Mexico
Cedar Point for cows and the line for the ride is about as long,
this is massive ! thanks for the lookse
Such a huge and expensive rotary milking parlour but still needs 2 workers to put on each 320 the clusters.
What's the positive part in this ? Cows having fun taking a spin ?
the time einstein!!! the cows can go fast back to product! If they stay a lot of time in the milking they dont have enough time to eat and product milk.
Won't be long before "Golden Corral" and "Old Country Buffet" implement this all-you-can-eat model for hefty Americans.
Don't know.Did not see anyone washing them once they were on the parlour.Maybe they were washed in the collecting pen with a auto water jet?. Cows were grazing a fresh paddock They looked very clean as they entered the yard so maybe they did not need washed.
Still a 2 person job these big rotary parlour don't seem to cut down Labour costs
Hello, would it be possible to contact you regarding a licensing request for using a clip of this video? If yes how? Thank you in advance

@@holsteincowboy Thank you! We will make sure to credit your channel. Would it be possible to get the original footage?
this is very interesting I'm doing animal production
Beautifull video 👍👍👏👁️
640 cows quite a bit, but I milk 1,500 a day sometimes up to 2,000 depending on the feed and if they are dry offa
WOW
Now, that's how it should be done. Relaxed cow is a happy cow..
Happy cow = chocky milk...🤣🤣🤣
Can this centrifuge be used to used to pellet blood samples?
This is a nice cowshed.. I am looking forward in working in dairy farm, in NZ maybe..
nice milking of HF ,I liked
5:40 now that's a big Bessy.
Farming Simulator ultimate upgrade!
amazing
haha yes wes, opposite for us - dont miss the cows, but miss the definite pay check at the end of each month. With beef you only get money when your selling( which is not all the time). Btw, love your videos and i am a avid watcher.
busko trabajo
Really looking
No music playing? Isn't supposed to aid in milking?
consider that BGH levels allowed go up and up, as do the anti biotics?
No longer should we say "got milk"? But Got Osteoporosis? or Got Cancer?
no joke.
+David A There are no antibiotics added to milk.
+David A I'm not sure you actually understand the procedure for sick cows on a dairy. If a cow is on antibiotics, the milk is illegal to send to the market. There should be no risk in modern milk. If they test a truck load of milk and it contains anything harmful, its all thrown out and the farmer loses thousands of dollars. So it would make no sense for a farmer to even risk trying to sell that milk or adding it to the bulk tank.
+marc napier he clearly does know! and you have to chill boy with a agenda.
you obviously have no idea how rhe Dairy industry works. no milk is allowed to have antibiotics
There was a video and pictures of a farmer who had an robotic milking system. If a cow treated with antibiotics needed to be milked she had a tracker bar code system saying DUMP when the robotic system read her code. Her milk would be dumped into a dump tank. One day this cow was milked and her milk was mistakenly sent to the sell tank due to a robotic error. The farmer saw that the cow treated with antibiotics accidentally had her milk sent to the sell tank, and he dumped over $17,500 worth of milk. Watching $17,500 worth of milk being dumped was painful. That was his paycheck that had to be dumped. Each farmer's milk tank has a sample taken when the milk truck comes around to collect it. If their milk sample is positive for antibiotics that farmer has to pay all the other farmers that had their milk collected into that milk truck AND has to pay a hefty fine for having antibiotics in his milk even though it wasn't sold.
У нас только у комуниста Грудинина в колхозе им. Ленина такое есть . Здорово!!!!!!!
I wonder what cross the big grey and white cow (that appears at 4:25 in the video) is. It's a very impressive setup, what happens if a cow kicks the clusters off? Enjoy all your videos, thanks.
The grey cow could be a brown Swiss maybe
This is the only way to milk cows, nice relaxed cows, each one getting feed, no stress ,if the cows hated it,they would not walk In and walk out its that simple
Ricky Watson I’ve never seen such an uneducated comment on any UA-cam section. First of all the cows walk in so easily because they know there is no other option. Cows are not unintelligent, each one has their own individual personality. Their intelligence is very similar to that of dogs.
They do not liked to be milked at all.. milk is only meant for their calves. Humans breed, breed and breed them to make milk, to the point where eventually it starts to hurt every time they are being milked. They are only supposed to feed their calves milk regularly, where as what’s seen in this video will happen NUMEROUS times within a few days, causing stress and pain.
A man will walk into prison calmly, into solitary confinement and even to death row. An animal will walk into a slaughterhouse calmly. Do they like it? Your comment is total nonsense. More bullshit rhetoric from the animal ag industry.
cow
@@geocostello5928 yes cows have a terrible life........
i guess you rather let them roam free, digging themself thru 4+ feet of frosen snow to maybe find a few straws in the winter... not to mention beeing eaten by wolfs bears and so on...
A farm is more like a partnership than a prison if it have a desent owner...
The cow get food shelter and so on in return for its milk...
i grew up working in a goat farm,, we loved the goats, they was funny. but if we hadnt slaughterd some of them yearly we wouldnt have feed ore space enough, since each got get avarage 1,25 baby goats each year..
so 100 goats turn in to many in just a few years.. hehe
only first year 100 turns in to 225, second year 225 turns in to 562 and so on
we had an old horse for the kids that stayed on the farm until he died of old age,, it was cool until he wouldnt leave the barn the 2 last years, and got sick and we had to use thousands and thousands on veterinary bills and medicine, becouse my younger siblings wanted him to live as long as possible....
its almost ok to use that much money on a pet... but any farmer would go bankrupt in a few years if they should theat all farm animals that way..
as long as we eat meat and drink milk we have to threat the animals as best we can while they serve us.
@@geocostello5928 piss off go joab
beautiful! how much amount of invesment in dairy farm?

Man those cows are chill!! Wonder how you get heifers used to it??
Technical and interesting
i like this
Nice milk business
Two people attaching milk units????? What a waste of time and money.
i like that work
ROSE ACRES. CHEAP LABOR ?
70 stalls and 40 of those clusters would be kicked off 😅🙄
Disappointed there's not some sort of automatic power washing/sterilization process on the whole carousel, especially the disgusting feeding troughs.I don't disagree with this system but give the animals a little more dignity, respect and cleanliness.
fritzmusic Why are the feed troughs disgusting? As long as there's not moldy feed laying in there, it's no risk to the cattle. Cattle don't view hygiene the way we do which why they'll poo on their neighbor if she stands too close.
dairy is very good without cow milk we cannot live , but stop cruelty and beating cows in farm
How much does it cost for the mashean
Nice
Can you amazing putting mother like this? World would be outrage.

I hear the bulls bellowing.
economies of scale Ld be happier to pay another 5p /litre for traditional dairy farming but there is no turning back.
this milking stande is big,
ทันสมัยคับ สะอาดวก
No fan for cows waiting.
No fans required. This a windy coastal farm on the west of Scotland where summer temps rarely go above 65
Oh, a coastal farm you say?
Over a natural drain in the ground that pull electrolytes from the cows as they turn. Gotcha
I've just been reading an article in the Farmers Guardian about Brown Swiss and Brown Swiss/Holstein cross cows. I'll bet that's how that big grey and white cow is bred.
If you don't like this as I don't stop eating cheese yogurt and drinking milk. I have stopped recently and although it's been a bit of adjustment to give up cheese for me, every time I think I want some I just think of this video and the other videos which show the horrid treatment of cows. Cows are wonderful animals who don't even eat meat they are completely passive animals. How did humans get to this base level of consciousness?
+Sherlyn Borkgren I didn't watch the whole video and if I missed some crazy abuse then I will apoligize. However, these cattle didn't seem to be mistreated at all. You do realize that cattle actually enjoy being milked when they are heavy like that, don't you? You know that any kind of stress, be it physical or emotional, will cause a decrease in milk output and therefore cut into already slim profit margins? You realize that cattle are heard animals and if you stick them out on an open range they will clump together?
I'm sorry you are either pushing an agenda or are just ignorant but you should at least post that comment on a video that actually shows some type of mistreatment.
+Sherlyn Borkgren Have you ever talked to a farmer or been on a farm?? This is far from horrid treatment. Please, before you comment on something try and have facts to back it up.
adk
Well I'm sure they don't mind being separated from their calves and giving all their milk to some strange bipeds.
Go back to India you cow-loving vegan
sehrrrrrrr natürlich
you guys are so slow, its almost painful to watch haha
u say almost painful to watch , imagine the cow who waiting in that crowd.
HOW DO THEY GET OUT?!
Matt as the cows reaches the exit point, she walks backwards a few steps.
Ahh 640 cows in 2 hours my mistake :-() cool , but there is a better system out there it is a robot that can milk cows as the come from one padock to the next all fully automatic no need to be even there cows come when the need to be milked as many times as the need
Moo moo milky I like my milky
Cant i working i from malaysia

I want to see a rotary milking parlor milk ONE MILLION COWS AT ONE TIME, of course using many rotary milking parlors !
followed by seeing it on RIPLEYS BELIEVE IT OR NOT & GUSINESS BOOKS. making it viral on world news.

The vegans in the comments amuse me greatly. Nothing but feelgood city slickers whose only animal experience might be a horde of cats.
LMAO I guess you also feel lumberjacks know more about how to look after forests too?
2 hours to milk 70 cows is a joke with a system like this and the cost 25 years ago we milked 60 cows in less than 2 hours
no 2 hours to milk 700
Big circle
When you pay down payment for a house and the rest of your life you pay your mortgages. This how rich people farm poor people 😂😂😂 this is the picture of paying mortgages you don’t have freedom but to give your milk by working 9 to 5 jobs 🤪🤪🤪
Tem que ficar sempre olhando pra cima pra não levar bosta na cabeça...
I've milked cows, by hand, by semi automatic milking and have even seen a completely automatic milking station in person, but have never seen anything quite to this scale. I'm not even vegetarian but this made me want to go vegan...and I know these animals aren't being treated 'badly' as such, it's not hideous and gruesome animal abuse, but it still feels so wrong, putting these beautiful creatures through years and years of twice daily milk production, with no calves to feed, that's obviously uncomfortable and unnatural at such sustained periods. When it's not even necessary...
