@@CC-oi9mc Cascade is strong, but they unbanned Bloodbraid Elf and the format didn't shatter. When they unbanned Grave-Troll in Modern on the other hand, it was a disaster. Dredge and Storm are also relevant in Legacy/Vintage as well, with decks like Manaless Dredge existing, and Scattershot and Flusterstorm being powerful threats. I think the issue is that Cascade can be interacted with, while efforts to stop Storm just push the count higher, and stopping Dredge requires all or nothing options like Rest In Peace, Leyline and Grafdigger's Cage. Even WotC have said they consider the worst thing about Dredge to be how it turns entire formats into Sideboard Wars.
This is a great list. I wonder if this channel can do things like the best Infinite Combos, or the best stories behind certain combos in professional tournaments
zanzaklaus I don't understand why you like this new channel. Why not just leave the mtg stuff to the people who actually know what they are talking about?
@@kiriyalwasp This channel is presented by TheDuelLogs but all the episodes are written by PumkinSwift who is an extremely knowledgeable mtg player who was doing his own videos, before deciding they just wanted to write and edit the videos while letting TheDuelLogs perform them and put it as a part of his weird channel network think. The only thing they messed up on what TheDuelLogs reading the script and coming out with a bad pronounciation it's not that big a deal.
The MTG top 10i immediately want to see are the old cards that became meta. There's so many ridiculous combos I've seen that only exist because an old card was still live that happens to work well with recent releases.
Cool video, love your style, but zou should look up how Baghdad is pronounced. It's a real life city. Yeah they did some real life reference in early sets
I'm genuinely unsure whether it's a bit intended to farm interactions in the comments or stems from genuine ignorance, but this particular narrator is kinda notorious for flubbing relatively easy/widely agreed upon pronunciations. It's not too surprising that said flubs carry over to real world locales as well lol :P
I think Bridge from Below needed to be able to be interacted with like it were on the battlefield. For example, it could have something like "Your opponent may pay 1G or 1W and discard a green or white instant or sorcery to exile Bridge from your GY" (simulating your opponent casting Naturalize on it)
I remember when duellogs said that he figured there should be a channel out there that explains magic cards in depth like he does for yugioh cards to make it easier for people to understand stuff. Looks like he took that to heart lmao.
How is the money split between you and the guys who make the script? I hope you give them their fair share since they're putting in most of the work. You also have good presentation skills and have built up a the platform so obviously that factors in, you certainly have the bargaining power to get a huge cut. I'd find it really cool of you if you didn't abuse that, just curious
I mean this guy is the one making the channel successful. If whoever wrote the scrips made their own videos they would be getting 5 views. Hiru has the formula down to a science and created multiple independent channels that are very successful.
@@kye4216 He has the platform, that is all. There is no intricate formula or mastered skill that make these videos special and therefore earn lots of views. If that were the case, there would be no point in hiring script writers because they would not be able to put out content of the same quality. Your argument makes no sense. The writers put in 90% of the work now while he reads their work to earn possibly 90% of the profits. If that is the case that is messed up no matter how you look at it
The problem with worst is that they're not really that interesting. There's well over 20k cards in MtG, at least a couple hundred of those are mana rocks. The worst are a bunch of 3+ mana rocks with no real upsides to justify their high cost, and even the people who drafted formats they were in probably don't remember they exist. Plus there's so many cards sitting around the bottom end and so little data about cards no one really plays that it's really hard to give any convincing evidence for why a particular 10 are the worst. Same problem for the worst cards on the reserved list. A while back I bought a handful of obscure reserved list cards because they filled a specific niche I needed for some decks, and they were all like $1 or less. There probably a bunch of cards even worse than those on the reserved list. I can almost guarantee the entire list would just be below rate creatures at common from one of the sets that had is commons on the RL. Or some expensive spell that just does nothing in a couple spots. It'd be hard to make solid arguments for why they're the worst, and they're just not interesting to talk about either.
@@fwg1994 You can do "Worst of" lists, you just have to find the right Criteria. For example, the worst Mythcis list is pretty good, because all mythics are splashy enough that they're at least interesting to talk about. You have to narrow it down to a subsection of usually strong or complex cards, so that even the bad cards at least have something interesting to say about them. For example, I might do a "worst alternate win condition cards" soon, and all those cards are at least interesting
Never seen the channel before, but I'm guessing this is a modern channel given the lack of Dakmor Salvage being listed when it can mill your whole library with The Gitrog Monster
A video looking at alternate win conditions in magic would be a good crossover video for your YGO channel because the yugioh audience will understand it being analogous to Exodia, Final Countdown, Spirit Board etc
Bridge from below shouldn’t have been banned at all. It was just banned to not hurt the sales of MH1. The interactions with Vengevine, Gravecrawler were competitive but not oppressive. I wanted to play Bridge in a deck with Mayhem Devil and tons of zombies and sacrifice outlets. What a letdown. That year was the death of modern.
(Script writer here) I didn't forget Reach, I just didn't think it was worth including it in the script. It's a small exception that people can understand pretty easily once you read a single Reach Creature. Though, I might have been wrong, not sure which way of explaining it is easier for new players to parse

List is stupid. Bridge literally has no effect anywhere else than in the graveyard. (Unless you think about its devotion count) All the other cards mentioned in this list also want to be in play. A place Bridge doesn't want to be. It's the only card that the only place you want it is in your graveyard. Period. It's no. 1
Never expected to hear the duel logs talk about an "Izzet tempo deck."
I suprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
As much as I loved your Yu-Gi-Oh channel, I don't play it, but I do play magic so I'm am so excited for the new channel
I would love to hear TheDuelLogs reactions as he reads the script on the different comboes and synergies :p
Giant GASP
You know I've always wanted an mtg duel logs style UA-cam.
Best of all scenarios dual logs running a mtg card UA-cam channel
Look up nizzahon he has 480 top 10 lists, deck histories, and some other stuff
I love how #2 is just "the dredge mechanic as a whole"
easily the most broken keyword ever made except for maybe storm
Cascade is pretty insane too

As a storm player I occasionally joke about it being called the Dredge Scale
