When I was employed as guitarist/vocalist on cruise ships in the 80's/90's, most of the charts I encountered were in standard 4/4 .. 3/4..or maybe even pop 12/8 time.
Occasionally though, I could
be faced with some odd time signatures.
For example 7/8 or 9/4, in the great Greek folkloric music.
This tune in 5/4 time was recorded by the fabulous Dave Brubeck quartet and was really the benchmark for playing outside the usual 4/4 etc.
