Great photo shots of trains from a bygone area! If it wasent for the effert of those who love trains, they would all be in train heaven and only a memoy and a few forgotten photographs!
So true. Today's 2 mile trains are awesome and high tech with mid train and pusher engines. But nothing visually like here. Class I steam is very rare. High balling, double heading too. This is as good as it gets today. Thanks.
Grand Canyon RR, bought and operating with replacement management, did not run steam at all for a few seasons. Now they operate steam on ocasion. See their site for the 2012 steam schedule. They also use modern diesels. The 1st gen alcos are not run at all. Thanks for asking.
I think that #2926 and or #3751 should go to the Grand Canyon Railway more often. Maybe not have an excursion between Albequreque or Los Angeles to Williams, but deliver them there and then have the excursions on the GCR.
No pictures from me, I was playing chauffeur that day. My two traveling companions did take some photos, but I don't believe they are publicly available.
So that is you TexZac. I knew you were in another video of mine titled,"4960 National Train Day, May 7, 2011" You were talking with several phtographers. You are at 09:12 in that video. I had no clue you were in this one. Where are your pictures from this day?
Yeah. And these ALCOs are rare today. More esoteric are the Baldwin shark nosed with a unique engine and sound. One Baldwin set is left - in private hands - kept away from the public - in MI..
Thanks. I hated this set up. This was shot from an overpass on I-40. I agree it came out OK. Road noise is awful. Grand Canyon Railway is quite sensitive about visiting the shops (trespassing) except on uncommon tours. The photographers seen in my shot along the ROW north of the shops will normally be escorted out of that spot.
In 2016 29 was brought back to steam and runs again. What you say that its running may mean that it was stored in display but probably still operational. It only took a few months for it to be operational again.
Ha, I can see myself at 3:09 in the blue shirt running across the screen, and you can see my little white Outback pacing the train at 11:23. It's odd to find myself on UA-cam.
Listen i am not saying that 4960's life on the CB&Q was not important hell if it was not for the CB&Q we would not have a 4960 to take part in this double header however she is most known for here continuing service on the Grand Canyon Railway so it would be more appropriate i think for her to be listed in this video's title as GCRR #4960
That fire was pretty scary! I was on the train that day, great ride. Awesome video! Nothing like double headed steam!
Awesome
Awesome!

Thank you. Your videos of the race track are great and have different filming challenges.
What a trip Glenn, glad you were able to get there.
Excellent HD quality, great angles and shots!

I agree totally. 4690 and 3751 put on a great show. Thanks.
Very Awesome action! I wish I was there two but I had school and the trip was also exspensive.

Is the deasel engine there as a back up! or for the electrical power for the coaches?
That scene was Beautiful! 11:29

Great to be there. thanks
Yes. Rare catches everywhere. Many Private cars in this consist are uncommonly seen in action.
Great job!!! Thank you.
Cute! CB&Q mikados are aesthetic tho. Santa Fe ones are chunky homely.
Wonderful! What is your idea?
Nice Video

Grand Canyon says #29 is operational. Been a few years since she has been fired. Do not know the why.

why cant grand canyon fire 29 anymore
Fun times!
Yes. Hopefully.
