Fun fact! Bastian season 1 is the closest thing we’ve seen to an IRL duelist represented in the anime. He preps for duels, learns what he is most likely to duel against, and has a variety of decks at his disposal to counter the “meta”. The most unexplored disappointing duelist but on the back burner.
We got already a retrain of Water Dragon and yet, no "Fire Dragon"

What's crazy about Bastion's sudden lack of screentime is that it started right after they finished the Tania battles. So within universe, the most logical explanation to this is that someone leaked that Bastion f***ed a tiger and because of that the group started to pretend he's not there when he was, killing Bastion's social confidence, making him start trying to push himself back into the group saying, "you know I'm here" when not acknowledged, losing admiration from his fellow Ra Yellow's in season 2, becoming so isolated that he lost on purpose to Chazz to be part of the White Dorm, and when none of that worked became fully science driven, going crazy to the point where he ran around naked not caring about what others thought of him because he already lost all social credibility. Leading to him to prefer to live in another dimension with his animal love interest then living with people. Quite a tragic story actually.
By the way my money's on Syrus being the leak...
What they did to him was well beyond dirty. I loved how he was the intellectual which is rare in Yugioh. It also perfectly contrasted Judai. His decline actually started during the second half of season 1. His lost to the amazon girl was when his fall began. Why oh why did Judai have to beat five out of the seven shadow riders/seven stars? Syo should have beaten Camila to get revenge for taking his brother's soul by using him as a shield. But no Judai. Season two onwards only cared about a handful of characters. GX's biggest problem is the treatment of its cast.
I love how Brain Dragon just replaces your Normal Draw with the Magic the Gathering card Brainstorm.

i also had an idea for Fire dragon for a long time: except instead of a random fire monster, id keep it within the archetype, and have it be made with 2 oxygeddon and 1 carboneddon, combined with the spell Bonding CO2. And fire Dragon should change the opponents type to fire, to make them wak to water dragon.
I had a similar idea but instead of re-summoning the material monsters it was "when this card is destroyed destroy all face-up monsters with less atk than this card on the field"

guys i realized that Draw Paradox is even more broken than it seems since if you activate the draw 2 effect of Number 60 Dugares or Reckless Greed your opponent will be the one who does not draw since their effects say to skip YOUR next draw phase, so it would be the opponent who could not draw.

What Happened?
Hassleberry was meant to replace Chumley, not Bastion. Cause we needed to have the main trio, according to the out of touch writing team at that time. Also Hassleberry became equally as irrelevant later on and no one feels sympathy for him (granted I wouldn't cause he's reduce to constantly arguing with Syrus for the majority of the show)
All we can assume is the writers had no idea what to do with Bastion after season 1

That “plus” and “minus” concept could be pushed more

If you have certain polarity’s that could translate to the card bouncing off a desired monster or going to something your opponent doesn’t want it to

The entire Chemical/Geddon series of cards needs to be retrained. I think making them an archetype of cards that list a specific card in their effect text, like the Stromberg cards or the Horus cards do, would be a good way to unify them all. Call the card something like "Chemical Bonding".
Yeah, but then it would be super obvious to your opponent as to what strategy you are going for.
Still, I do agree that Retrains would help Bastion’s Cards immensely!
Bastion (and his six decks) should have been the first 6 Attribute Structure Decks and have him debut the Monarchs, giving him 6 duels. Then give him a final 7th duel where he merges them to make a Monarch deck.

He would be very useful in a fusilier dragon the dual-mode beast/barbatos/other level 7 normal summons beat down deck. He would always enter with the full 3k attack to beat your opponent.

He also pronounced Eisenstein wrong.
How many monsters have "plus" or "minus" as substrings of their name, and thus might count as "plus" or "minus" monsters depending on effect wording?
At the end when you do the grading, could you put up the cards you want in and the ones you want to never appear again?
Bastions magnet warrior cast not being real cards was my first experience with cards from the anime not being turned into real life cards and I can say with certainty teenage me was absolutely dumbfounded by that concept especially when magnet warriors was a classic archetype like how after all this time have these cards not been made real??? Sure not every anime card is a winner but like I genuinely can’t think of a reason not to print 99% of them even if just for pack filler
they should make them real, but switch the plusminus mechanic with: it can not attack magnet warriors with lower atk, but has to attack magnet warriors with higher atk.
I want some of Baston's cards in the TCG like the Magnet cards.
I think the effects of the Magnet Warriors need to have their effect conditions to be changed. Maybe type or attribute based instead of being a plus or minus monster. Linear Magnum should be summonable by tributing 2 Magnet Warriors or Earth Rock monsters. It should be as generic as possible to be worthwhile.
Amorpheos Barrier should be a handtrap that also gives you a free Magnet Warrior on activation.

Brain Dragon seems like it would be borderline broken if u get the effect off even once. Besides the hand fixing, which is nice, imagine stacking a Rank-Up Magic Force or Mahad on top of ur Deck. I guess you could also use it in SPYRAL's or with cards like The True Name to know the exact card on top of your deck.
A modern day version of the Magnet Warrior +/- mechanic would be to turn them into "+ Counters" and "- Counters" and be able to distribute one of them onto the Magnet Warriors when they're summoned and be placed on opponent monsters through card effects.

Great episode on Bastion and Eisenstein. Bastion definitely deserved better in the anime, though I’m happy he got a bigger role in Tag Force and the GX manga.
Also, I don't know if you heard yet, but at the time of this writing, Double Fusion, one of Jaden’s anime cards, will be an official card in the OCG this October 21st, as a V-Jump promotional card. I honestly thought it was made into a card at least a decade ago.

You cannot activate draw paradox during the second turn of the duel, for the same reason you cannot activate time seal
yeah, they should switch the spell/trap status of the cat and draw paradox, also make the cat work for cards your opponent draws/searches.

Maybe if they gave the weird magnets actual names like "Sigma Plus" and not just weird symbols, I could see them coming in the modern game.
So the effects can say "plus" and "minus" monsters.

Since we got Eisenstein’s Singularity Fiend earlier this year in AC24, I’m hoping in next year’s set, we get more of his cards such as Laplace, Relativity Field (which would be like the Numeron Network of the deck depending how they adapt it and the rest of his cards) and Schrödinger’s Cat and then the following year, the last of them. That’s what I’m predicting.

Draw paradox sounds like a really mean card that could be put in any deck, if your opponent can not negate it you get to draw in his turn and may even be able to kill draw paradox before he can draw in yours turn.

Instead of 1 fire monster, I like the idea that one of the two components need to have Raise body heat equipped.
bastion was the big dissapointment from gx. he became a pathetic simp because haselberry used dinos, and he tooked his place for that.

The writers aren't at fault. It's been stated that the reason why Bastion was removed was because the Geddons didn't sell. So they scrapped the archetype and didn't know what to do with the guy. They even planned out a fire deck until Konami gave the order.
What is the source for this information? I find that puzzling considering Konami doesn’t sell individual cards. Besides the fact even if the geddons flopped, he has the magnets.

SO seeing as how I've been making a massive G-doc excel filled with custom card I'm going to do some reworking here.
First Bonding- Combustions. As you said combustion is a reaction not a chemical bond so a better name be C. Reaction - Combustion (The C being short for chemical). Also surprisingly we don't need a new monster to complete this reaction as it turns out Hydrogeddon can complete this but if you do want to create a new one then lets create Nitrogeddon Lv. 4 fire Dinosaur 2000 ATK / 0 DEF with a crash effect similar to Zane's exploder dragon. Next i feel a half ATK boost after battle is more of a 5Ds era boost instead of GX era boost. So i would change the ATK boost to a flat 1000 each time it destroys a monster. Lastly being a GX era monster this arche-type isn't complete without a fusion. So by fusing Water & Fire Dragon together we get Electro Dragon. All the energy of both in raw elemental form. As a nod to Einstein it with ATK / DEF stats 2800 / 2000 being a lv 8 light Thunder monster. As for it's effect: non-target destruction/resource recovery in exchange for it not being able to attack. Once per turn you can shuffle up to 3 dinosaurs in your GY to your deck then destroy the same number of cards on the field. However it can't attack the same turn it uses this effect. There's amateur reworking for the moment also I love these videos because they literally give me more fuel for more custom card works. So can;t wait for the next secrets of yugioh.
