Marik was standing at the door typing in "Kill" "Stab" and "Pain"
"Why are these the only words I know?!"
We are *_NOT_* talking about Abridged!!!
@LittleKuriboh, I'm warning your ass, kill the abridged series and get off the fucking Internet!!
I *_WILL_* however weigh in my gripe that; Since Noah said "Duelists Only", why *_WASN'T_* Yami Marik invited?!?!?
1111… 1112…. 1113…
”This door is a bitch!”
This door is a bitch!
Judgeman is S tier. Instantly able to OTK your opponent and it even burns them 500 to make it even easier.
He's basically Supreme King Demise but you never have to summon him.
Imagine just walking Horus the Black Flame LV 8 out bc “I want too” and turning off all spells lol. The Jinzo guy had the right idea for basically Goat format. Crazy how not creative the other choices were.
Can you imagine what it would be like if you have bothe Jinzo and Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8 at the same time.
Season 4 of GX had a duelist who used Horus LV8 alongside Royal Decree, which is technically Jinzo (in effect at least). Not very good at remembering how that duel played out though, since I haven’t properly watched Season 4 yet.
@@ellishughes3050 Jaden won against this Dude with contact fusing
Idk how Judge Man didn't get an S Tier. A Quick Effect Raigeki seems broken. Keep in mind also that there's no method of Negating a Deck Master's ability (at least from what I remember). If u Really wanna abuse this ability, you can even include Life Boosting cards like Solemn Wishes, to give you 4 times or more to use Clear the Courtroom. The best part is it also Basically Floodgates your opponent from Summoning THEIR Deck Master to close out the game and/or to defend.
I’mma spitball and assume he loses some points because it’s not the only thing he did to turn the duel in his advantage. He straight up cheats by rigging the RNG in Joey’s dice cards, and that’s just the final straw for Noah to interfere and call off the Duel. I’d be scared enough of a Raigeki if the cheat didn’t also load the dice.
If Jinzo effect is continuous then I think it's an S tier deck master, you get a floodgate since turn one that stop your opponent from playing traps.
It is.
It surprises me they never did more with this beyond it being used in Duelists of the Roses, their is a lot of game potential with this concept
Similar concepts have come up in some of the side-games, like Duel Links…
But I think having Deck Masters be reworked to for the current TCG/OCG would do a lot to refresh the game. They could be monsters with 2 effect boxes: An effect box for passive effects they provide to the player while they’re not on the field, and a suite of active effects while they ARE on the field. They could be utterly immune to floodgates (even ones that lock out monster zones entirely), and it would be impossible to tribute them or use them as material. BUT you would lose the duel outright if they would be sent to the GY or Banished. If they end up being attached or equipped to another monster, they would simply either be special summons to it’s owners field or be sent to their “Deck Master Zone” if said monster were to leave the field.
@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire i prefer duelist of the roses. its a mixed of capsule, dice, deckmaster
They explored that potential in Duel Links. Skills are like Deck Master monster's effects.
Jinzo deserves higher. As a Deckmaster, unless you Summon him to the Field, no card in your opponent's deck will ever get their Traps back online.
Regular Jinzo can't compare. Since you don't need to draw him, and don't need to Summon him.
Commander, but for Yu-Gi-Oh! Always loved this concept.
Shinato’s Ark had a couple of more effects that you didn’t mention.
Noah has the power to make up new rules till he gets called out just like Dullest kingdom.
Jinzo's deck master skill is just the Amplifier equipped Jinzo, seeing Amplifier equipped Jinzo only negates your opponent's traps, but not your own.
The virtual world arc dub gave us jinzo with a southern accent
Jinzo DM ability completely stops your opponent from using trap cards. That can't be anything but s-tier 😅
I guess you could think of deck master monsters like the Skills in Duel Links. Maybe Konami included a subtle nod to this mechanic, but without directly tying it to monsters.
Afair Tristan had a skill directly tied to deck masters so you might be right.
@@Not_An_EV Yea they definitely referenced Deck Masters through Duel Links skills. For me it’s kinda obvious ngl
Imagine Exodia's head as a deckmaster
Its effect could be "every turn in addition to your normal draw you can add a piece of Exodia to your hand but you must discard a card if you do so. If you have the other 4 pieces in your hand Exodia's head becomes full on Exodia and automatically wins you the duel"
Put your opponent on the clock which is now 4 turns or even less if you manage to draw any of those pieces in your opening hand XD
Your opponent would automatically be able to pick who goes first.
nah give it heart of the underdog card effect. but draw one with additional draw phase card, each turn
Noah's deck master was just a bag of asspulls.
Maybe these deck master effects can lead to possible retrains. Not word for word of course, but maybe in some capacity
The "Lady Roboyarou" is *_Officially_* called Robolady!
Unless I’m misunderstanding, how is a quick effect opponent board wipe not S?
Many effects were better than he gave credit for, even forgetting Kuriboh's other effect.
@@donellebullock7404 yeah, lmao
I honestly highly enjoyed this deck master arch growing up. I always thought the mechanics of it all should've expanded more on the explinationation, as well as allowing more monster introductions with the special abilities. The plus side of it all though we got to see first hand the reveal of Kaibas step dads and noah as characters onto the show with their attentions. I could've seen the deck master tech to be a fun side-play mechanic option in the irl card game kindof like how we have rush duels nowadays in some sense. have some fun deck master themed decks/booster sets etc.
Any Nightmare Penguin fans belong on a watchlist period
Five headed dragon deck master form is different because it's a ritual called Mythic dragon with it's effect being on summon to destroy all the opponents cards and can't attack that turn, while it could be only destroyed in battle by light monsters( I wouldn't be surprised if Konami made it into a real card since we have a 5 headed link dragon so why not a ritual version).
Well yes but actually no
It was called the Mythic Dragon in the Legendary Heroes mini arc at the end of the first season. Leichter calls it Five Headed Dragon when he summons it. But yes it is a ritual, that also requires 5 monsters with 5 different attributes (for the purposes of this they counted Nightmare Penguin as wind) and yep, it clears the board but can't attack on the turn it's summoned.
Fun fact about Dark flare knight and Mirage Knight, they are one of the best cards in the game reshef of destruction. In that game Dark flare knight is a main deck monster that floats into Mirage Knight upon hitting the grave in any way and considering how the game just let's you discard cards whenever you can see the benefit. What's better however the that you don't even need mirage Knight in your deck to use this effect it'll just appear and Mirage knight has it's anime effect and just like itself, you don't need Dark magician or Flame swordsman in your deck to use this effect. If you want to get anywhere in that game get a dark flare Knight.
I'm not a fan of everything moving in these videos, is it necessary to shake everything? Makes it hard to read.
I don’t mind it. I appreciate the effort in editing.
1:25 Idea for a Deck Master version of Blue-Eyes White Dragon, to be used as a blueprint for a Hypothetical Deck Master in the TCG/OCG proper:
_Blue-Eyes Master Dragon_ (LIGHT)
Level 8
Deck-Master Passive Effects Box*:
_Each turn, 1 Level 5 or higher Normal monster you Normal Summon can be Summoned without Tributing. During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Normal monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. If a Normal Monster you Control attacks a Defense Position Monster, Inflict Piercing Battle Damage._
Dragon/Deck-Master*/Effect
_While Face-up on the field, this card’s name is treated as “Blue-Eyes White Dragon”. This card that on the field is treated as a Normal Monster (But its passive effects are still always applied.) This card can attack all Monsters your opponent controls once each._
ATK/3000 DEF/2500
*Deck Master passive effects are always applied, even while the monster is on the field, even if it is attached to or equipped to another card.
*Deck-Master Monsters are considered effect monsters unless otherwise mentioned (but even in such edge cases they retain access to their stated effects from both their Effect Boxes). Deck Masters all have the following rules applied permanently.
_This card’s effects cannot be negated or Responded to. Once per turn (Quick Effect); You can Normal or Special Summon this card from your Deck Master Zone. During the End Phase (Quick Effect), you can return this card to your Deck Master Zone, except during the turn it was Summoned. Cannot be Tributed or used as Material. Any effects that would add this card to either players hand or deck instead return this card to your Deck Master Zone. If this card that is attached or equipped to a monster, and would be Unequipped/Detached, or the card it is Attached or Equipped to leaves the field, it returns to your Deck Master Zone. If this card is Sent to the GY or Banished, you lose the duel._
Lol the puns were the best part.
It would be cool if Deck Masters were a thing in the main game. Like, if you could have a card regarding one of them that’s separate from the rest of your deck, giving out passive bonuses, and then you’d be able to summon them for stronger versions of those benefits, BUT you lose the duel if they get banished or sent to the GY (If they’re equipped or attached to another monster, and said monster leaves the field, the Deck Master would be summoned to your field instead.) Aiding this, they would be utterly immune to floodgates, and cannot be tributed or used as material for the summon of a monster (So no Super-Poly or Kaiju style shenanigans).
You are describing "extra deck 2"
@@ManuelRiccobono
Except it would only be for exactly 1 card
@@ManuelRiccobonoCommand zone*
Honestly I think this arc wouldn’t have been as out of left field if it happened right before the battle city finals and not halfway through the arc so a potentially interesting concept gets turned into essentially a bleach filler arc with an intro cutscene.
@PurplePineappleTelevision The Wiki has ALL deckmaster abilities in the Virtual World Arc and Beyond. Iff you hate the damn thing so much, then why did you NOT do that…?
Judgment man not being S is crazy this video is rigged
Legit.
It's basically winged dragon of ra on what shouldn't be legal steroids.
Quick effect raigeki that can be activated with no cost (paying life points is not a cost at this point) and only a hard once per turn xD.
If he had used it as he should of any time joey entered the battle phase he would of lost in seconds
@@johndawn6951 not even consider we don't actually know what duel masters are considered so assuming for now there effects can't be negated. Idk just feels whack
0:36 Bro didn't mention Domain Format 😅😅😅
My favorite arc it was so out of nowhere there on a boat then suddenly in a virtual world while marik runs around wrecking stuff in the real world
Even back when the Virtual World arc was new, I thought about what deck master abilities other cards would have.
Like, Lesser Fiend has the actual ability that any monster it destroys in battle would be banished instead of sent to the graveyard. So its deck master ability could be to make it so that happens if any Fiend-Type monster you attack with destroys a monster in battle.
The way all the panels wiggle around is kinda disorienting
A fanfiction writer named Santoryuu used deckmasters in his series of stories. After each story, he wrote out the deckmaster abilities used in each story.
I used to duel in this "format" of course there wasn't really any written rules so we winged it. The rules we did make where simple, 1. If Deckmaster had an ability in the anime they got that ability 2. Both players must agree to the abilities given to the Deckmaster (You know to stop stupid shit)
The only Deckmaster ability I remember giving was to Meklord Astro Mekanikle which gave Meklord Army the Synchro Absorbtion of the Emperors
i balance it with cost. so its not spamming
I remember seeing a clip on UA-cam where Joey straight up asks Flame Swordsman what its Deck Master ability is.
I forget if that was exclusive to the Japanese version or not, but that amused me to no end.
I believe Blue eye’s deck master ability was a passive one where you could ns any main deck dragon monster for one less tribute.
So for example kaiser glider you could summon for free or tyrant dragon only needing one tribute.
How could you not like the Virtual World arc?! It's undeniably the best Yu-Gi-Oh! arc and one of the all-time best anime arcs to fall asleep to.
Part of me likes the Virtual World arc on paper, because a reality that just warps and bends around you with no clear linear path of progression is a neat story idea, and I like that the side characters actually get moment's to shine in the Yugioh series. It's part of why I like 5Ds very much.
As for the deck master ruling, I would love to see it translated as a format for the TCG somehow. Maybe making abilities tied to type if they don't want to give every single card a unique master effect- like a Zombie deck master letting you pitch a Zombie of a different name from deck to grave once etc etc
The deck master mechanic in duel links is pretty funny since the characters never implied they they were playing with virtual world's rules, if anything they are playing their own world's rules with them introducing rush duel in it. So some of the skills can be interpreted as straight up cheating.
The deck master could be real.... it just you have to use a monster's special ability like Jinzo power to negate the effects of other players traps except their own.
DMG's off might be good in today's formats where we have to pay a big cost to let Pot of Prosperity excavate into 6 , but back then, I dont think it was as good as an S.
Too bad they never made this(deck masters) real.
2:57 Kuriboh did da lalalalalalala after appearing from his card 😏
i would you recomend to wacth this arc in the japanese version.because some duels got a better tone like yugi/ nesbit, that in the original version he references maquiavel a lot, and crump was a sexual predator.
Wait in the original japanese Five Head's Ritual counterpart didn't get its own name? No wonder why they never printed it.
There is one ability Deck Master 5-Headed Dragon has that it's real world self doesn't. It destroys all of the opponent's Monster, Trap and Spell Cards, as soon as it's summoned.
dmg's ability might just let you excavate cards equal to the number of monsters in your grave, tea just had 4 in grave at the time, and Kuriboh might not be a mandatory activation. Super Roboyarou's ability lets you redirect an attack to any machine you control, not just itself. Tristan is shown using the ability several times, and only redirected it to Roboyarou at the end because he had run out of other machines by that point. Maybe the duel with Nezbitt happened before Strike Ninja was printed? That's the only explanation I can think of for the different stats besides just the anime wanting to be different. Dark Magician Knight wasn't a physical card in the anime.. Knight's Title just treats a monster on the field as a warrior, so Flame Swordsman's effect could boost its attack.
Ahh,,,the Virtual World arc . . .
I remember getting a Japanese dvd of this, wayyy before it was localised and dubbed into English, and thinking to myself, "Why has young Kaiba got green hair?"
Yugioh The Duelists of the Roses also has something similar to Deck Masters via the Deck Leader.
Duke is one of my favorite Yugioh characters. Bite me
Ultimate dragon might not have the best deck master ability but I think it deserves a little higher tier. It got messed up by a deck master that was it's perfect counter.
18:53
Oh boy, you'd HATE the Rush Duel anime if you hate puns.
When I was younger I was hoping Konami would have made deck masters a real thing by printing special products to introduce them as a side game thing or something but sadly that never happened. At least speed duels kind of scratched that itch even if it wasn't quite the same.
Still hoping they will someday might get me back into the physical game again
Based on monster abbilites, what would you choose as deck master? My DM would be *Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo*
Lord of D would be cracked in a rokket deck since you have a lot of great options for that additional ns.
I wonder if base blue eyes deck master ability is just it's ability to be summoned to the field or still be used as fusion material as a deck master
2:20
Its not an automatic loss if their deck master attacks. BUUD was destroyed by the rebound and _that_ is why NPC Kaiba lost: because his deck master was destroyed
… yeah, so if your opponent attacks with their deckmaster it gets destroyed and they lose, that’s what was said
Dark magican girl deck master ability is not S teir it is average.
Yeah cos pot of prosperity is just so average.
The deck master idea wasn't a bad one but the idea was introduced at a horrible time. Stopping Battle City & not using the Egyptian gods was very disappointing. Imagine if the Egyptian gods could be deck masters they'd dominate. The deck master abilities just seemed plot based but were the characters given booklets on what each monster could do as a deck master
I unironically love this arc and have no shame in it
Screw you, that arc was amazing
Didn't five headed dragon nuke the opponents field on summon but can't attack, or was that the spell used to summon it?
The only good thing about this arc was giving all the characters a duel for their own episodes. But it was a bit silly.
I ❤ the Grand Championship arc
Tristan: I lost by body to impress a girl.
Serentiy: Wait are you coming on to me? Oh no, darling i'm WAY out of your league.
ppt I love your videos please keep making insanely good videos like this
ppl "Higher Plane" in Shinato's name actually means heaven.
flame swordsman deckmaster ability is almost the same to the effect of blue flame swordsman.
I’d put deep sea warrior in b tier mainly cause if were using modern decks you could tribute two monster that give beneficial effects when sent from the field to the graveyard and gain a huge amount of advantage as long as called by or that filthy rat ash blossom doesn’t show it’s disgusting face.
I'm surprised it took you this long for 4Kids' writing to break you.
I'm new here, can someone explain the Dark Magician Girl hate?
Controversial take... But I think the Waking the Dragons arc is the worse. At least Noah's arc gave you some glimpses at the Kaibas backstory. The dragons stuff doesn't even add anything and kinda ruins the ending if Atem already lost the duel to a random ass biker in the middle of Florida.
That's what you get for watching the 4kids dub. I used to hate this arc too and while I still don't love it, mainly because it's interrupting a much better and more interesting one, the Japanese dub does a lot to fix things and make more sense.
I could honestly say that for the entire series.
Just wanna point out that the reason that arc was bad was because it wasn't canon.
You can say that about any filler arc In anime but there are video essays talking about how great waking the dragons arc was
it actually is considered Canon, since it revealed the true attations of Kaibas step dad as well as introducing us to his second brother noah.
@@AKnickToThePast That arc wasn't actually that great, it has lots of problems if you really watch closely.
@@CreativeSteve69 No, it didn't happen in the manga, so it's not canon.
@@arrogantgodjealous maybe I should rewatch it
Im at the start of the video but hope you point out how good Judge Man was. Broken.
... so would this be a bad time to mention this is my favorite filler arc?
what did the magicians do to you🙏😭
What's this BGM?
I like the arc :)
Jinzo was Best deck master
Gozoboro is worse. He says my boy more than Tom hanks in Elvis
this was new
Mairk And Burkira should have been in this, just to see what they pick, Mi valantime also, Whileve would have Insect Queen as his Rex would have Red eyes
I cannot stand this video, because Virtual World is my favourite arc.
The only good duels Battle City had were the Ghoul with the bootleg Exodia cards and Yugi vs Jonouchi, every other duel being a boring formality imo.
The blimp part of Battle City finals had NO good duels, with Rishid vs Jonouchi being the only contender but was too drawn out, for the rest the outcome was obvious before they began, because Yugi, Kaiba, and Malik would obviously not loose until the finals, so the entire arc should have been skipped instead of showing us useless and boring duels.
Kaiba sacrificing Soldier of Obelisk was a cool moment in an otherwise awful duel, and Bakura vs Malik was the only well animated duel in the entire arc.
Battle City finals part 2 gave us the cool fourway tower duel, Jonouchi vs Malik, and Malik vs Yugi, but Kaiba vs Yugi round 4 was so awful that it kills any good will the arc accumulated.
The worst five episodes of the franchise.
Filler duel between losers would be cool if Jonouchi won, but he didn't, so it's a wash.
Virtual World on the other hand, after getting through Yugi's boring first duel, has the best duels in the entire series.
It has Jonouchi actually use his street smarts to make Judgeman choose the wrong card, which is a cool callback to him being in a gang and his gambling deck, and is my favourite moment of the arc.
It has Anzu finally stand up for herself against a pervert, after Yami Yugi had to save her from them all throughout season 0.
It has a 3vs1 duel, where Shizuka, Honda, and Otogi actually get a reason to be there, unlike Battle City finals where they tagged along for the sake of providing reaction shots.
Kaiba's duel you enjoyed is actually the second worst in the arc, but the animation of Blue eyes destroying the satellite is great.
I just find Kaiba to be a lame character in general, especially after Battle City undone his Duelist Kingdom character development.
The big five duel is also not very interesting.
Noah vs Kaiba/Yugi is my favourite duel in the series, and episode 115 has the best animation in the entire series, better than Dark side of Dimensions.
And Gozaburo vs Kaiba is a nice callback to the end of Death-T.
Dark Organization Doma arc had Raphael and Amelda, but I still prefer Virtual World over it. I like it more than all canon manga arcs, and more than all of GX before season 3.
Virtual World is on the level of Dimension World, Arc Cradle, Barian Invasion, and Velgearian Extinction arcs to me, which make Yu-Gi-Oh my second favourite anime after Fullmetal Alchemist 2003, so it makes me really mad to hear it be disrespected in this way.
I just wanted to give a detailed breakdown on why I disagree with your opinion very deeply.
