  • A review of Italeri's, 1/48th scale, Fw 190 A-8 model kit, released in 2015.
This older style model kit, No. 2751, is a re-box, with new decals, of Italeri's, Fw 190 kit, from 2009, and is a co-operative effort between Italeri, and Dragon Models. This particular kit being based on a Dragon Models' Fw 190, originally released in the 1990's.
Features 2 Photo Etch sheets, designed primarily for creating a highly detailed cockpit area, as well as a choice of weapons stores, including under-wing 30mm cannon. Also included, are Paint and Marking Guides for 6 individual aircraft. No pilot figure is included.

The first issue of the Trimaster (later Dragon/DML) Fw-190 series was the D9. That had the longer fuselage with the plug Focke-Wulf inserted. That would be at the panel line you mention. Obviously they had to modify the kit mold for the earlier version. Probably looks a little rough by the time Italeri molds it.

I'm struggling with this plane, but Model #2693. It's a nightmare. The instructions are hard to read, confusing, or make no sense. Some pics are so dark that you have to guess where they go. Hardly anything fits, and you have to modify/cut/drill/ fill to make some parts or they won't fit. I score it 3/10.

John. Thanks for the info. Haven't started mine yet but not surprised. Italeri has that reputation. It's either spot on or, a struggle. If Tamiya can make easy builds, why not the rest? Cheers.

@@PetesKits Thanks for that. I will stick to Tamiya, as I did not know about Italeri's reputation. Cheers.
