    Thank you for these demos. I'm looking at the x1 and x2 for guitar and bass since my little joyo bass amp died. I was using it to track demos on my ipad. I'm not sure if the x2 would be too big to have sitting next to my ipad on my desk. I'm torn because I've seen plenty mention that the x1 sounds boxy, and I fear the x2 being too large for what I need it for.

    How does the X2 do with guitars with active pickups?? Owners manual says Vypyr X amps are designed for passive electronics, and active may cause unwanted distortion.

    Hey Ben, I'm still having a little problem. I've set inst/stomp to BYPASS, the amplifier to TWN. I'm trying to get just a clear clean guitar sound without distortion. I noticed when I strum the strings hard to play part of the song louder, I get distortion as if I've kicked on a distortion pedal. I've tried adjusting the pre-gain and post-gain but can't seem to figure out why I get the distortion sound. Anyway if you have a suggestion I would like to hear it. Thanks

      @benchristopher76 yes, the green light is on! I think everyone understands what a volume control is, but I don't understand what the post-gain and pre-gain are for and how to adjust them. Thanks for your quick reply. Barney

      @@COWBOYBARNMAN think of it like a big tube head. Pre is gain amount, post is channel volume and master volume is just that. On a big head, I set my master all the way up and feather everything in from there. Why on earth your getting distortion on the Twin patch with the green light on and the pre turned down makes no sense to me. Do you get distortion on the Classic model on the green channel?

    I've tried contacting Peavey for help with no reply, I'm trying to find out if the Sanpera II footswitch is fully functional with the X1, specifically the manual mode of selecting 'stompbox' 'effect' 'delay' and 'reverb'. I own the X1 and realize it doesn't have a dedicated knob for stompbox so just want to know if the Sanpera II is overkill for this before I buy.

    • @benchristopher76
      @benchristopher76  10 місяців тому +2

      Yeah. You'd just have to disconnect the speaker wires coming from the chassis and use a separate cable (1/4" on one end and bare with clips on the other end) to easily connect/disconnect it.

    Oh my gosh Ben, I bought the Peavey Viper X1 today and I can't believe this thing brand new out of the box does not come with a simple manual. I tried to download one online and I can't get it to open. So I've got a brand new amp and I can't figure out how to make it work. Do you have any tips on how to get a manual? Hello man thanks for the review
    I was thinking of buying an amplifier for playing in my home and small gigs. Do you recommend modeling amps like these or solid states? I will really appreciate your professional opinion on this

    • @benchristopher76
      @benchristopher76  Рік тому

      I'm kinda old school. Since I have a pedal board and all built up already, I usually gig a smaller tube or solid state amp for typical gigs. If you get one of these, you'll want to get a Sanpera 2 to go with it for gigging. Then, just program all your patches and sounds so they're easy to get to.

      @@benchristopher76 I have to battle myself a lot not to go the traditional route but I think modeling amps are more economical. Sorry to bother and ask you this but do you see anything noticeably bad about the tone of the Peavey X1? I am personally a fan of Marshall amps but I'm a bit tight on the budget.

    • @benchristopher76

      I would spend the extra $100 and go with the X2. I've found the little bit of extra power and size go a long way. You'll be happier down the road vs the X1.

    at 5:00 X2 definitely expresses tonality of guitar better, you can easily realize the characteristic of mahagony body guitar. also same in 7:00.

    • @benchristopher76

      @@benchristopher76 but sound differs from x1, that what i actually meant. I guess analog electronics parts are the same but main difference comes from 8inch speaker vs 12inch speaker and larger cabinet. X2 expresses wood characteristic of guitar more than x1, i assume magnets are not active. So actually i wonder what was the amplification model? Is that british or 6505 or 6534?
