- This is part 1 of a full build series for the Tamiya Lunch Box. In Part 1, we check the R/C equipment and install all the electronics. What's interesting about the Lunch Box is that the installation of all the electronics comes first. In most kits, you build the whole vehicle and then one of the last steps is to install all the electronics. So this is a departure from the usual build sequence. Nevertheless if you are planning on building a Lunch Box this series is designed to show you what you need to do!
Just picked up a lunchbox black edition. Will be using your videos as a guide as I did with the grasshopper
Cool!! I really like the black edition!! The stickers look really great on that body. I think the black version looks more aggressive than the standard yellow. Anyway ‘Im sure you’ll enjoy the build! If questions come up along the way feel free to reach out!
These are great fun to build! there are pretty addicting to make into other famous vans! They seem to be like chips, can't have just one!
Having now built one I would completely agree! :)
I just picked up the Black Edition today!
Awesome!! Love the look of the black one. I might have to do the same at some point! Thanks for subscribing!! If you need any help during the build process feel free to reach out!
I have the Hobbywing QuicRun 1060 Brushed ESC with yellow and blue cable plugs. I bought the Tamiya 540 Sport tuned motor that has black and red cables. Which color goes to which? Also, my ESC On/Off switch doesn't fit in the lunchbox chassis hole exactly, with screw holes lining up. What do I do?
Hey thanks for reaching out. Let's deal with the motor/esc issue first. When you bought the motor there should be something that shows you which wire is positive and which is negative. It should be that the black wire is the negative one so the red should be positive. So connect the positive lead (red from motor to yellow on your HW1060) and the negative (black from motor to blue on the HW1060). On your ESC the yellow is positive and the blue is negative. As to the on off switch, I'm afraid that's an issue with most Tamiya kits now because the HW ESC doesn't not come with a standard Tamiya switch housing. So you're right it won't fit and the wire lead is much shorter than the Tamiya lead. You'll have to come up with a new place to put it and attach it with double sided tape. That's all you can really do as the HW1060 doesn't come with the Tamiya standard switch.
@@FastFreddyRC Awesome, thank you for your reply. I’ve been going through your build series videos and definitely will keep watching once U have more Tamiya kits!
@@kle2217 Thank you! More are coming! Current build series in the works are the Neo Fighter, Opel Calibra TA02 and the Holiday Buggy, which I’m sure you’re aware of, but the CC-02 will come after, along with a couple of others that I haven’t even mentioned yet on the channel.
@@FastFreddyRC Thanks, looking forward to them.
I can’t get the servo test to work , any tips , fallen at the first hurdle and that’s one bit you don’t show 😢
Hmmmmm....here's the video where I did a full test of the radio gear. It was for a Grasshopper but the same process applies: ua-cam.com/video/6c3J8rbGpVg/v-deo.html Let me know if this helps. If it doesn't lets try to troubleshoot this.
@@FastFreddyRC thank you bro that solved that issue and thanks for such a quick reply , just assembled the engine and gear section but noticed as I turn the wheels there’s no movement on the Engine , even if I spin both wheels forward at the same time , does that sound like I’ve missed something but all seemed to go together fine 🤷♂️
