***** with game off thrones being a successful adaptation from book to tv, publishers will realize that not every book should be a movie regardless of how much they have to cut it to shreds. on the other hand more and more publishers seem to think the best way to solve it is to make more movies. for example the hobbit was divided into three parts. the hobbit isn't fit for a single movie but i would have preferred they make it a mini series. a lower budget might also have persuaded them to not bloat the battle of five armies, thus undermining the satire of the segment entirely
Greetings Mr. Wormuloid. It is of my humble request to find the hidden meaning in the artifact of "John Wick" which I believe is starred by the non-aging immortal vampire named Keyanu Reebs. Thank you and may your glorious eye brows grow long and prosper.
+zmunk Yhea, they are both in the Orion Arm of the Milky way Galaxie so it's pretty close. Plus there is no major difference in the DNA of the living things on earth. I mean humans share 60% of the DNA of bananas so between humans it's negligible.
I think he was referring to the Japanese comic: " Battle Royale" where a class of students are sent to a island where they have to kill each other for entertainment. SURPRISE (ofcourse) the protagonist with Japanese "Haymitch" who survived the previous games to secretly help the protagonist to stop the games in the future. Best part yet, Battle Royale is written 14 years before Hunger Games and have films too.
+Ally Victoria the book was written even longer before the movie too. Susanne Collins has even spoke about the similarities between Hunger Games and Battle Royale. She swears she's never seen it...
Hunger games book: anti the phoniness of modern cultures, specifically criticizing reality TV. Also being anti-capitalistic greed. Hunger games movie: participates in the phoniness of modern culture, specifically targeting the reality TV audience, while participating in excessive capitalistic marketing.
Gray Fox It can have the same message but it can look out of place when the setup for that message is the complete opposite. If you don't see that u just don't get it.
I like that subtle reference to Battle Royale. (For those who don't know, it's a Japanese novel that the Hunger Games basically ripped it's own concept from)
well hunger games takes a very different route, they use the same generalized concept but the overall meaning of the series as a whole was vastly different and very much more original (never actually seen or read battle royal so that might be completely wrong if it is feel free to tell me)
I think what you said about the bread is really on point, but taking about the books for a moment, I feel like bread represents hope. If you take a close look at when Peeta gives Katniss the bread, in the first book, she mentions that that action gave her the hope that she could continue on living. Also there's a great parallelism in the final book, when she is really depressed and Peeta brings her the bread as well, and so slowly Katniss comes back to life.
+Sir John Mandeville Memento, The Dark Knight Trilogy, and the Prestige are all really good movies man. Don't be a hater. Also, sorry about that, I didn't see the Memento suggestion.
+Sir John Mandeville Well, they've already done his two biggest blockbusters and I doubt they'll do Interstellar or the other two batman films. I think some of his pre-Dark Knight films would be great. He's a modern day Hitchcock (to me at least)
Baladucci I think it's a humorous reference to Star Trek and their weakly inspired alien-a-week antagonists. By the way I love Star Trek but they made some very odd choices on some aliens they met and one of them became offended enough at the sight of eating that they caused an incident.
Loving your channel and these Hidden Meanings. Reminding me of a cross between Mystery Science Theater and some papers I had to do in College English Classes. Funny, Interesting and scary all at the same time. Great Job. Bet the kids don't realize they are actually learning.
+WoofSaidTheKat, they said that they were gonna retool it because a lot of people found the juxtaposition of the dialogue with the character design off-putting. Not sure when it'll be finished, but hopefully soon.
Definitely the best film review chanel on youtube. 1- because it actually has a real in depth look into the themes and craft taht make filmmaking an art. 2- because it doesnt slap a rating on a film and claim that the film is only as good as they see it to be. 3- its funny as hell. good job guys, and thank you for the incredible content
I was super excited to see a long episode of Earthling Cinema. instead the last almost half of the video is a fucking commercial? that's for this channel.
Because the human genitals are located inside the human mouth. When a human opens their mouth, they expose the tip of their genitals. Naturally this is censored.
Okay, I gotta admit. When I first watched one of these videos (3-4 videos ago) I thought it was kind of stupid. Now I love it. And am subscribed. "A talking bag of potpourri" cracked me up. :)
AMZING VIDEO AGAIN!!! I just hate that I have to wait 2 weeks for the next Earthling Cinema. But I do watch the hell out of your other videos. It's just amazing quality of content and I think that's what separates your channel from the rest. The depth of literary analysis, the sarcasm and wit - omg I can't explain how happy I get when I get notified of a new Wisecrack video. It also seems you have a really good understanding of the demographics of your users. Or maybe I'm just speaking for myself here: I've been looking to develop my digital art skills and it's true that while you can find a lot of free tutorials on youtube, these usually are the intros to intros to that skill. I'm going to check out lynda.com to see how it compares. Just wanted to give you feedback that this was spot on in terms of relevance to me as a Wisecrack fan trying to break into the world of internet content creation. Thank you and keep it up!!!! And if you could do something on the Anime 'Gurren Lagann" or "Monster" or "Deathnote" that would be great! If your other followers are like me, I'm sure they might appreciate that, too!
Should've talked talked about the principle of "panem et circenses" I.e "bread and games" which are the only two things necessary to distract a population in a totalitarian regime. Panem as said is the bread, circenses are the games. But when the lower class runs out of panem, Revolution ensues.
Panem also likely relates to the quote by the Ancient Roman writer Juvenal, 'bread and circuses,' the circus aspect being related to by the actual hunger games themselves. Juvenal regarded the use of bread and circuses to have placated the feelings of the Roman mob, thus allowing an autocratic elite to rule, similar to the Capitol in the Hunger Games.
Do either Five Easy Pieces, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Shame (2011), Lord Of The Rings, Drive, The Piano Teacher, Sideways,The Descendants, The Graduate, On The Waterfront, Birdman...
sometimes I feel like I am the only person in the world that still loves the hunger games to death and people say I am a nerd and I have no life because I love a movie that no one watches or likes anymore
This series is truly out of this world.
+The Enigma Encoder nice.
The Enigma Encoder I get it!!!!
Redstone Creator I really like picturing someone taking 10 months to figure out what they meant. lol
the hunger games would have been better adapted to a tv/netflix series since it's pacing doesn't fit a movie
I liked the movie. Not as much as the book, but rarely does that happen.
+Cyan Cat When is Part 2 of Part 3 comming out? ^_^_
Damian Reloaded
this month
+Damian Reloaded nov 20th/21st :))

Best non-earthling comment ever
you made a mistake, hunger games actually translates in japanese to 'royale with cheese'
+zmunk i thought that was in England
japan, england, same difference
+zmunk Yhea, they are both in the Orion Arm of the Milky way Galaxie so it's pretty close. Plus there is no major difference in the DNA of the living things on earth. I mean humans share 60% of the DNA of bananas so between humans it's negligible.

+WhiteTuxMafiaAndFilms Reminds me of the hypocrisy of The Lorax movie's commercialization.
+WhiteTuxMafiaAndFilms Plus the dialogue between Peeta and Katniss was horribly written and corny.
Nixo Monopip The only good thing in the movies were the people they cast for Cinna and Haymitch
+WhiteTuxMafiaAndFilms The movies have the exact same message. If u dont see it u just dont get it.
Gray Fox It can have the same message but it can look out of place when the setup for that message is the complete opposite. If you don't see that u just don't get it.
"talking bag of popourri" i died laughing
I died too!😂😂😂
please do donnie darko or teletubbies
+prohri uhri teletubbies!!!! yesss
+prohri uhri wow dude, that's way to heavy for most people, personally i can't even stand the intro of teletubbies.
+prohri uhri The hidden meaning in Teletubbies is...
The purple one is gay. I mean he's purple and has a triangle on his head. He's obviously gay.
+gvcorp TINKY WINKY.
DIPSY.
LA LA.
PO.
TELETUBBIES
TELETUBBIES
I WATCHED THIS SHOW ALL THE TIME!! (Did I really just admit that on the internet?)
yesss donnie darko
Can you do "no country for old men"?
Yes! Any coen brothers film would be great
What does this country have against old men?
"Peeta was the son of a Baker man. Yes he was"
This show never fails to kill me with it's jokes 😂
2:37 Those colorful things are chocolates from William Dean Chocolates in Belleair Florida. I used to work for them, they were also in the sequel.
LMFAO! Battle Royale when translated from Japanese means "Hunger Games"
I see what you did there!
I like that subtle reference to Battle Royale. (For those who don't know, it's a Japanese novel that the Hunger Games basically ripped it's own concept from)

***** I haven't read it. I just know that they ripped off the concept because my sister has read it.
Lord of Keks i don't think they did though, half way through the series it ceased to be about the hunger games anymore
***** True, but you know what I mean. It certainly starts out with the same concept though.
Lord of Keks i've never read or watch the slayer films but is the purpose of the slayer game thing almost souly for entertainment?
Your version of the hidden meaning just scratched the surface layer of a much deeper meaning. More to learn you have.
Burring Rue in flowers, refusing to fight Peeta and becoming a mass murderer.
I think what you said about the bread is really on point, but taking about the books for a moment, I feel like bread represents hope. How can i learn to make stuff this?
Garyx, your eyebrows are particularly stunning today love!
next please do memento or the machinist!
The Machinist was not nolan, but why?
+Sir John Mandeville You're thinking of Christian Bale. Swing and a miss
+Croz Raven The Machinist definitely!
He's a modern day Hitchcock (to me at least)
lol I forgot eating is censored XD
In Garyx Wormuloid's society, the process of eating (biting, chewing, and swallowing) is considered a disgusting sight to behold and must be censored.
Baladucci I think it's a humorous reference to Star Trek and their weakly inspired alien-a-week antagonists. By the way I love Star Trek but they made some very odd choices on some aliens they met and one of them became offended enough at the sight of eating that they caused an incident.
Just hit 1 million!
+Christian Clark YES! only because of all of you.
Hewitttribe 2 does this offer extend to anyone?
They should do The Matrix
+MC Monkey Good news! ua-cam.com/video/ETlQqHAaY_k/v-deo.html
+Danny Ackles Done also.
They have.
Loving your channel and these Hidden Meanings. Reminding me of a cross between Mystery Science Theater and some papers I had to do in College English Classes. Funny, Interesting and scary all at the same time. Great Job. Bet the kids don't realize they are actually learning.
"Peta is the son of baker man."
almost choked on my food.
Subscribed when you mentioned Battle Royale.
"... becoming a mass murderer."
Why do they always censor peoples mouth while they're eating?
Because in the Garyx Wormuloid's culture, intake of nutrients through the mouth is absolutely vile and repulsive.
llamadog007 xD How does he eat then?
Anyone knows?
+R Ca his armpit.
:o
MatPat sent me, Wisecrack.
"And team up with a former hunger games named hey Arnold" I laughed so hard
I love everything that you guys do on Wisecrack. But seriously - what the heck happened to "Boss Bitches of History"?
+WoofSaidTheKat I was about to ask the same thing...
+WoofSaidTheKat, they said that they were gonna retool it because a lot of people found the juxtaposition of the dialogue with the character design off-putting. Not sure when it'll be finished, but hopefully soon.
This is so funny, I feel like an Alien watching a Human talk about Hunger Games its such an Earthception
the look on your face when you said "Battle Royal" made my day.
Thank you for bringing up Lynda.com
Definitely the best film review chanel on youtube. 1- because it actually has a real in depth look into the themes and craft taht make filmmaking an art. 2- because it doesnt slap a rating on a film and claim that the film is only as good as they see it to be. 3- its funny as hell.
good job guys, and thank you for the incredible content
This was one of your best episodes imo.
LOVE THE NARRATION SO MUCH .
SO GLAD I STUMBLED UPON THIS.....
THANK YOU...😊
That WiFi password line, I broke my water on that one.
This is becoming my favorite channel day by day.
That reference to Battle Royale, though...... at least, someone's giving credit where it's due!!
Hey Schroeder, the Marriot commercial with you played before this video. congrats for landing it!
Battle Royale definitely deserves a earthling cinema moment!
So I'm new to Wisecrack and I was expecting a serious and in depth hidden meaning video. I ain't even mad XD
"Peeta is the son of a baker man, "
yes he is" lmao I love Dusty Springfield
One of the best series in the whole internet.
I am currently binging this series. I'm literally dying of laughter
I was super excited to see a long episode of Earthling Cinema. instead the last almost half of the video is a fucking commercial? that's for this channel.
Weird question:
Do you think the Hunger Games dvd case is so messed up because someone set it on fire?
the dvd on fire
psyched for the free trial! I'm trained as a graphic designer, and I can't wait to up my game ;)
Do the silence of the lamb or Psycho next time, please. Always love this show.
I've watched like 20 Earthling Cinemas and I still don't get the censored eating joke.
I like to think its a nod to starship troopers where the bug thing eats the cow
in his planet eating is unacceptable
Because the human genitals are located inside the human mouth. When a human opens their mouth, they expose the tip of their genitals. Naturally this is censored.
Oh, gosh. 10/10 for that District 9 reference!!
Please do home alone garux wormuloid. you are our only hope
I love these sfm. THANK YOU.
I'd love to see Shaun of the Dead (or the entire Cornetto Trilogy) analyzed
it would be interesting for wisecrack to make out hidden meaning from "cloud atlas".
I love this show. Please keep up the good work.
Oh, and I'd like to suggest the Blade trilogy. Please!
Haha, nice LoL reference with the tie:) Great Stuff!
finally a sponsored thing that isn't boring or irrelevant
My new favorite You Tube channel!
I recently read Battle Royale translated to english, I wanted to cry. That was amazing
Does this mean we're gonna get a video on Battle royale?
Okay, I gotta admit. When I first watched one of these videos (3-4 videos ago) I thought it was kind of stupid. Now I love it. And am subscribed. "A talking bag of potpourri" cracked me up. :)
I have always been curious about the Earth Relic "Grease".

Juvenal regarded the use of bread and circuses to have placated the feelings of the Roman mob, thus allowing an autocratic elite to rule, similar to the Capitol in the Hunger Games.
Can you guys do Shutter Island? I feel that is an underrated Earth Artifact
"and refusing to give out the wifi password", lol my worst fear!
Earthling Cinema is the best!
Everyone in the Hunger Games always looks well fed.
Did anybody else think when he mentioned "battle royale" he was going to say it translated into "battle quarter pounder?"
+Lutranereis No, it was a reference to the film Battle Royale... What, did you recently watch Pulp Fiction?
Do catching fire and mockingjay. This channel is so original and hilarious!
Do either Five Easy Pieces, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Shame (2011), Lord Of The Rings, Drive, The Piano Teacher, Sideways,The Descendants, The Graduate, On The Waterfront, Birdman...
I truly appreciate the nod to Battle Royale.
U guys are really clever and funny, love ur dry houmor. All your clips should have 7-digit clicks, but u´ll get there ;)
I guess it costs a bit to get the signals all the way from wormaloid back into the past and upload the result on youtube.
Heyarnold 😂😂 I'm dying
I need an Earthling cinema on The Social Network
"by a talking bag of pot pourri" I'm losing my shit.
You're doing a great job!
That 'Son of a preacher man' reference. LOL
"The capital is able to exert the districts by refusing to give out the wifi password" I'm dying 😂😂😂
Thanks for telling us about Lynda.com
Can you do Boogie Nights? Just finished watching it and I'd like to see your take
Love the radiation king from fallout/the Simpsons at 3:40
I'm glad they made that nod to battle royale
You forgot to mention that Katniss got her name from a flower commonly known as "arrowhead".
Please do a movie review of The City of Lost Children and Hardware... It is sure to be engaging or at the very least entertaining.
Nice documentary
Dood! Thanks for sharing Lynda! :)
I would like to see "Caveman" staring Ringo Starr done. Please and thank you.
loved the Japanese "Battle Royal" reference...
Apparently in the Hunger games world, us Mormons are considered evil. Just like real life!
"Katniss and Peeta decide to pull a Romeo and Julliard" hahaha
These movies should have been rated R. Movies with a concept like this shouldn't be limited to pg-13.
i love this series!!!! keep it up!!!
sometimes I feel like I am the only person in the world that still loves the hunger games to death and people say I am a nerd and I have no life because I love a movie that no one watches or likes anymore
"...and refusing to give out the wifi password." I AM DYING SEND HELP PLEASE
So glad I found this series! I'm at work but I want to watch all of them now xD Also, lynda.com is amazing, so glad for the 10 free days!
