It may be a song, but it's a song that means a lot to people who only have little shreds of actual representation in media, and I'd assume that they'd obviously be defensive if someone went ahead and defeated the entire purpose of something that is important to their community. It may be a song, but it's meaningful, and has an impact on people.

There is almost no representation for lgbtqa members in media, the only few times that characters are openly gay or lesbian in media, it's hidden, implied, or just confirmed by a creator. Someone using this song for a straight couple is probably so infuriating because it's basically someone trying to "fix" the song, which is wack as fuck.
