Such a sweet MAP, I loved this so much because despite Rainflower neglecting Crookedstar after his accident and dismissing him for his disability, he still surrounded himself with those who truly loved him and was so sweet and so nice to see these moments shown as well. Everyone did a wonderful job bringing this together, well done ❤
I love how this map shows the relationship between crookedkit and Rainflower before his injury vs after because before he injured his jaw his relationship with his mother was by all accounts a positive one but the way she so quickly became cruel and cold after the accident shows very clearly that her “love” was conditional
Yeah she was definitely what I would consider a perfection seeker at best she made it clear sense their birth that she wanted “perfect” kits so when crookedkit was no longer “perfect” in her eyes her true colors showed immediately
I really like the angle this map takes of emphasizing that something good was lost. What i mean is most stuff that i see regarding Rainflower potrays her as nasty and dismissive from the start, but i think seeing the two of them have a positive relationship before his accident makes her later treatment of him (and him later finding real love in spite of it) much more poignant

I’m actually VERY happy that you took this route to showcase Rainflower’s character in comparison to that “it’s alright” map that was hosted few years ago. Abusers do not need a reason behind their actions. I agree with the desc that Rainfllower viewed her kits like prized possessions…
I think both this MAP and the "Its Alright" Map shows the two different methods of how one becomes a victim, one with the abuser having reason, and one where there really isn't a reason for it at all there is not just one type of way abuse can happen, after all

Giving the abuser a ‘reason’ to abuse said victim is viewing them in the light of a victim themselves and it’s just disgusting in general. Adding on to the it’s alright map simply being an AU where: Mapleshade made Rainflower do it and it’s a misunderstanding and how Crookedstar forgives her in the end is not realistic and it’s gross how it depicts Rain, instead of crooked as a victim. As someone who came from a home and had an abusive parent, I am not going to feel bad about the actions of an abuser if they were ‘misunderstood’ and ‘manipulated’ that’s just bs.

i agree with what you said about rainflower's perception of her kids, i always thought that she still wouldn't be able to have a healthy relationship with crookedstar, even if he never broke his jaw. but i like that the map ended a happy note with crookedstar appreciating all of the cats that were there for him!
This is one of the only warriors books in the entire series besides the last book of DOTC.. This map really showcases how Rainflower becomes cruel after her kit is "not handsome" anymore. Great job to th animators!!

ouh don't make me cry in these early morning hours... i'm parroting the other comments here but i'm very appreciative of the portrayal of rainflower's character here--not sympathetic or dismissive, but showing how overprotective of her kits--her prizes--she was, until one of them was, in her eyes, broken. seeing how crookedkit clung to any appreciation or validation from other cats, even mapleshade--who he knew was manipulating him, but still gave him more attention than his mother--brought me to tears, and the ending of him with the cats who truly loved and appreciated him was the cherry on top... god i love this map so much... every participant did a wonderful job of bringing this project to life, and it was a pleasure to work with you even for just the small background that i did some years ago💞💞

I hated rainflaower because of the way, she treated crooked kit he truly loved him, but after he got injured and had a disfiguration to his face, she just couldn’t look past that and see the kit that she loved in the inside the thing that I absolutely loved about to get stars journey after he got injured was Brambleberry didn’t just take on the job of medicine cat. She took on the job as being a mother figure to him too. She was supportive of him. She was comforting when he needed it. I also think it’s adorable. I don’t remember her name, but there was another queen in the nursery that would let him sneak into her nest, because Rainflower was letting him sleep with her in a car anymore. It just breaks my heart that Rainflower changed towards him once. she realize there was something “wrong“ with him it really really really really bothers me that she couldn’t just see him as the cat he had always been just cook. He had a broken jaw. It didn’t change he was on the inside and I really wish that Rainflower could’ve been able to see that.
I believe the queen’s name was Echomist! Unfortunately I couldn’t fit her in any part of the MAP but I’m glad ppl still remember her! Thank you for watching!

This is so perfect! I was actually really tearing up, and got chills. This song has always been in my childhood and I never thought about how much it related to Crookedstar. This MAP is beautiful.. ❤❤
I remember Shellheart said that even if Rainflower never said she loved him or was proud of him she felt it which I find utter bs and something he said to cheer him up. Also his jaw would have healed in starclan so you wonder how he was treated by his mother there.

Not going to argue against anyone’s opinion but as someone who grew up with a single parent who was under a lot of stress and pressure, you should never treat your child with cruelty and neglection regardless of what happened to them, etc. Abuse is still abuse, no matter your reasonings.
I read up on wiki that rainflower regrets her actions towards crooked star and she apologized to him saying that she I did wrong that she should have never rejected him in the first place
She never did apologize to him in any of the books. Might of been something Kate Cary mentioned but there is nothing. There is a mention from Shellheart about how she is too stubborn to admit she was wrong, but that's it.
