She was guided along with her dark forest friend named needlestrike who was just like a mother to her. More then larksong who’d abused spottedwhisker as a kit thinking it was right, giving trauma. Lark didn’t allow frecklenose and spottedwhisker but that didn’t stop spottedwhisker with them becoming mates later on and having three kits. Spottedwhisker thought her mother would hurt her kits if she didn’t kill her, so the Shecat had killed her mother in cold blood with needlestrike encouraging her. Spottedwhisker had told her mate that she’d murdered her mother, freckle with that comforting her. And that saying it, the leader had choose patch kit to be her apprentice, spottedwhisker was worried she’d over work her kit. Killing off the leader not knowing it was her last life, meeting needlestrike in the darkforest she found out the truth ending the Shecat knowing if she kill her, the cat she’d seen as her mother wouldn’t be in her mind no more, then moons later she’d died going to the darkforest walking in her own misery.

Her mother kinda reminds me of postpartum depression..It's a condition where after birth you may change and it can cause you to harm your baby (or yourself) along with numbness, feeling disconnected from your child, withdrawal from family, depression, anger and/or anxiety. Sometimes after giving birth mothers strangely hate their child and can act horribly due to it if not provided help. It can turn an otherwise sweet person into a monster, it's a rare thing but can be semi-random (like postpartum psychosis; which is similar except often stronger, more dangerous, and can involve things like delusions and hallucinations or strange beliefs). These conditions were mostly unknown till about a decade or 2 ago and it's pretty tragic all around. This story you have is pretty interesting btw!

meh, i guess. but needlestrike and spottedwhisker are more close to eachother then mapleshade and crookedstar were. needlestrike did use her in a game to play with her emotions but she still loved her as her own, she was drawn to the bad and good side i guess. mother and daughter relationship
after her death, she has a lot of time to reflect on things, and eventually does feel guilty. it’s too late, and doesn’t change anything, but maybe she can change for the better if given the chance. although whether she deserves that chance isn’t decided by her, but by those she’s hurt.

How I saw it was Larksong's abuse was fueled by jealousy. She adored her daughter at first, but once she saw the special attention her mate gave to her she became jealous because she wanted more of her mate's attention and that lead to her turning on her daughter. Doesn't make it right, but I could see that as her possible reasoning.
