Who made the decision not to expand into automotive?? Credits are often not given to disasters avoided. Kubota got their start recognizing the market place niche. Cat Deere , etc all made regular sized tractors or large ones for mega farms. But in many parts of Asia, even North America, there are smaller farms that a regular tractor just not suitable for the job. Same as in construction and mining, you need huge equipment to move a lot of dirt. But the smaller contractor that just have to dig a 50 foot ditch were ignored, Kubota filled that niche. They were one of the first to have a small excavator. and small diesel generator , too small to interest Caterpillar.
As one who follows several different "field mechanic" channels, there's a lot of bad things about today's Kubota's. I know 20 + yrs ago, they were top notch but, when you see what field mechanics call out constantly on today's newer machines and nothing changes... it's just "Deere" under a orange color. Now, I'm not trashing Kubota, in fact, kudo's to them for staying the coarse and staying with what they know. I really hope that one day, they surpass the dreaded "green" machine(s). Cheers :)
My father bought kubota in 1970. I am always amased by the quality of design and engineering. They knew their market then as they do now. They entered the American market when US companies were folding. They obtained a 15% market share before the US new they were there by targeting the small tractor market which was neglected by the big US players.
Very much the seppo view. My father bought a walk behind new rotary hoe in 1972. Model kf with a kndr70 motor. Shortly after they were importing small kubota tractors into austalia. Sort of like an upgrade on the walk behind machines. A couple of years later they redesigned the small tractor into the b6000. this machine was a shrunken version of the tractors coming out of the uk. A small version of 3 point linkage on a tractor suitable for japanese rice paddies. In the mid 1970s kubota entered the US market and acquired a 15% market share in the US market when the market was shrinking and US manufacturers were going broke. The US did not see them coming. I still have a KF walk behind, RV90 written off in a fire and a B7100 4x4 ex rice japan rice paddy. Always amased at the quality of design and engineering of these machines. I have been a fan since 1972.
I've never heard of a walk behind rotary hoe. Here they're called walk behind tillers. I have a Kubota at70 tiller I still use every year in the garden. I agree it is built heavy duty. Still starts on the first pull of the rope. Excellent machine.
Wish they didn't take my western il dealer from me have customers that i told to buy Kubota and have them myself since lost acm ad my dealer what a shit show on parts very disappointed on outcome
EVs are fire risks and they can't even make Cars, Bus or Truck that don't burn up. Lithium Batteries need to be use between 20% - 80% Charge to have any usable Life. Those that think 100% charge is good suffer with short Battery Life. There is a very long way to go with EV Technology before you bet your Farming Income on them.

I was an orange guy, sold most of my Kubota machines, they just cost to much to maintain. Better options out there that are lower maintenance.

Dont forget they didnt get into hay and cultivation on their own they bought existing companies in those fields.
Great machine, but their prices are too high for me.
they used to be great machines, however i find them very expensive to maintain and repair, $90.00 for a fuel filter for a skid steer. come on.

SEAsia is Not an emerging market for Kubota, they've been there for at least the past 50 years.
You really talk in circles.
"A Shoe-maker should stick to his Last". In otherwords, stick to what you know, and do it well!
I believe Kubota is orange. How is it that all these AG manufacturers avoided a billion dollar hit?
Kubota does not not make there large series tractors they are versatile tractors. At least in North America
Have they started yet? The 4cyl M7 150 and 170 ones are currently assembled in a Kubota factory in France

Electric tractors will be the end of Kubota’s great success.
