Great video helping the people ❤
    My experience for others.
2 months into violin (already play 🎸, 🎷, 🎹 & Mandolin). Currently I am not in the USA, purchased another brand violin available in my country. Tried the Light rosin which came with it, as well as Daddario Light rosin. Both were dusty, sound became scratchy after 15-20 minutes of play and E string was so screechy (Daddario was very dusty). So, after researching more, purchased the Hidersine 6V Deluxe DARK rosin. And wow, it just eliminated all the issues of Light rosin *instantly* ! Once applied the dark rosin goes easily for 6-7 hours of play 👌🏼👌🏼
Long story short, spend some bucks on different rosins (without worrying about the money spent) & you will be happy in the long run!

My 180,= euro cheap electric violin came with black rosin, it was not sticky at all and produced a lot of white dust on the violin, waving the bow also produced a cloud of white dust and the strings grew in diameter with each stroke. Just before this video was uploaded I ordered (I hope) better stuff (Bernardel, and a better violin (NS Wav4) + bow because I really like playing the violin) but found a solution for now. I used a lighter to "melt" the surface of the rosin and then apply it. it sounds as bad as before (that probably will be me) but at least everything stays clean 🙂

I recommend Sartory rosin. I upgraded from d'adarrio dark rosin even you are beginner like me. Happy practicing y'all.😊

I got the sartory rosin. It's so pretty and comes with nice packaging. It works really well-- not too dusty, too.

is there truth to the logic that dark vs. light rosin applies to different climates?

Yes, there is often a difference in how light or dark rosin responds to differing humidity levels in your environment. Therefore, I'd suggest getting an inexpensive light and dark rosin of the same brand and trying them one after the other or with different bows. What often happens, is that the rosin will be applied to the bow and work great but after a 1/2 an hour or so, the bow will start acting much differently and may start to generate a sound quality etc. that you don't like. A good rosin to try this out with would be the D'addario Light and Dark Art Craft or one of the Hill rosins.

Please Joel, you have to record your videos in a less reverberant room. It’s so rough to listen to understand you. I hate to complain but you really need to record in a different room or get the microphone close to you, so that you get more direct sound recorded because that reverberation it’s just over the top, much worse than a bathroom.

You are right. I've actually moved to use a mic that is pointing directly at my face. It works much better and I appreciate the input that sound is important!

Sorry, I don’t feel well about being harsh to people I like, but the reverb and delay were just so unnerving that I had to desperately cry for a fix; I’m so glad that you got it all worked out. 👍🎻

Yes, my later videos are better. I'm learning. Slowly, but learning! I appreciate the input. It's the only way I can get better.@@shipsahoy1793
