Thanks for your nice comment. It's always happening to me. Have an original idea that after all someone somewhere in the world has already done...

The idea is super but that pillow material will clog up your pump at some point even if you put a grid under it. Put a filter mat in between like the blue ones you can get for pond filters.

Just buy a laundry bag and fill it with the polyfill

how do you suck it out from the pool into you filter box? Do you pull a vacuum or how does the fluid mechanics work here.

    • @HandyMe
      @HandyMe  3 роки тому +1

The blue recipient is air tight. So if water goes out new one comes in :)

@@HandyMe you pull a vacuum then. good jobb and creative solution. I have been looking for a similar solution for my pool.

@@HandyMe i have the same blue bucket as yours, and planned to make this kind of filter system. can you give an update, is the blue bucket reliable about the air tightness? Is there any leak you have?

Hey dude, I copied your method, but my barrel kinda implodes and then eventually gets air filled despite when I submerged the barrel to detect / rule out a break in the barrel seals… any suggestions?

Install a bleeder valve on top. Similar to those on top of those 3gallon garden sprayers

Nothing quite like having live electrical equipment submerged in the water with you…..

Overrated, when my kids were growing up, though we had the smallest pool, all the neighbor's kids ran over to our place to swim. I had a 1h.p sumppump placed in the middle of pool with 1,1/2 pvc attachments. Mushroom waterfalls, etc. Blast of fun.
Sure, might be a little dangerous but so is shopping at Walmart

Electrically safe? Sorry, I'm not an electrician and I'd like to do a DIY inground pool.

I'd say yes. But just in case I disconnect it if I'm in the pool.

I'm a little late but maybe this will help if you haven't started yet or will hopefully help someone else in the future.
This filter build is certainly electrically safe due to the pump he used. At 1:10 in the video, when he's showing the pump details, you can see a little symbol that looks like two concentric squares. This symbol means "double insulation" and that means it does not require any extra connections to Earth/ground to protect against shock or electrocution hazards from the pump.
That being said, any time you're constructing a body of water intended for human occupation such as pools, hot tubs, or anything similar where electricity is *or could ever be* nearby, be it pumps, lights, Tesla coils, Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubemen, or anything else *you absolutely must* include a grounding wire from the metal body of the device to the earth bond that your homes electrical panel is connected to. Hot tubs even use a section of stainless steel pipe near their pumps that is Earth bonded to make sure the water itself is directly electrically connected to Earth to help mitigate shock risk since the tub is almost always made out of electrically insulative materials.
One final note that must be a rule to live by when building anything where water, electricity, and people meet is to never ever ever ever cut corners when it comes to earth bonding the electronics *properly and effectively*. Every single fatality you ever hear about from people being electrocuted in their pools could have been easily prevented with extremely minimal cost and effort. You would not believe how much there is to know and consider when earth bonding a new construction, though. Fluke even makes "earth ground testers" costing over $3,500! It's incredible how complex and important something as "simple" as making sure the angry pixies don't find you when they escape their wiring. As an at-home tinkerer, you should be fine with just making sure you run a bare bonding wire in as straight a path as possible to your homes earth tap.
I hope this helps at all...
