Duolingo " Tap to Speak" fix

Just when you think you got the app on a roll, suddenly it hits you that there is a problem with the microphone settings...........
You have tried all the fixes you can think of, but it's still not
working..........

I have watched so many videos on how to fix the mic problem in duolingo. Finally, after none of those suggestions worked - I just solved it on my own. If you are using a Samsung a15 phone you must go into your keyboard settings and switch from the Samsung keyboard to the Google keyboard. And of course make sure that all of your other microphone permissions are on for Duolingo

can't find a fix that works for me, infuriating. tap to speak works about 50% of the time, the other 50% it doesn't detect me speaking.

Same here. Even found a newer version, which works on my tablet, but still doesn't work on my phone. Just stopped working 2 months ago and duo didn't respond.

So basically Duolingo's mic access is dependent on Google...I hate the idea, cause I had turned off Google's permission to microphone so that it doesn't trigger the Google assistant and I didn't want it to listen in the background. Too bad that the devs have linked it like that...

Turning microphone ON for google fixed my problm

Doesn't work for me. My microphone is working. I don't even get an error during the speaking excerises. It's just goes into the infinite loading icon and spins forever. No error, no warning. Nothing.

If you hit the mic button on the google widget, are you able to speak to google? If you aren't then I suggest you enable the mic on google and duolingo, close the app and restart and try again.

​@@your_diy_guy Yes I can use Google voice mic via my Gboard. That's not the problem. Thanks I'm just seeing this comment, I've done all the trouble shooters. Everything worked fine for years and then one day the audio simply stopped working. I click on the audio lesson and all I see is ........ That's it. I've enabled everything in Google and the app. I've deleted. Cleared cache restarted. Updated - the whole nine yards. CS never responds so I get no feedback from Duo.

I have this problem right now. Microphone works on other apps, google microphone permissions are on, duolingo microphone permissions are on.
