  • What is the relationship between eating carbohydrates and gaining weight? The relationship between these two is actually much more straightforward than you may think! Our video explains the relationship between eating carbs and gaining weight, and how exactly this happens within the human body. We review the actions of insulin and how it plays a part in both weight gain and loss. Our video defines for you the types of carbohydrates that are available for consumption, and how it is that eating better carbs had to help you improve your health and lose weight naturally. Written by endocrinologist Dr. Christopher Palmeiro and produced by Doctablet®

    My walk to the bus stop at work use to be so hard until I cut carbs and stated eating more protein, fats, veggies and berries. It’s much better like I didn’t think I was going to make it on that first day lol

      @@Doctablet I have observed something. People who promote balanced diets don't tell us to buy their supplements. They just tell us to buy items like Whole grains, beans, vegetables and occasionally meat, fish, eggs.
      Whereas all these Fat and protein promoters tell you to buy whey protein, keto+, mct oil, olive oil, fish oil, cauliflower crust, and what not.
      The fact is that our body is not very efficient in performing DNL. Of course, if you absolutely starve the body of dietary fats for a prolonged time or eat a tremendously high amount of carb for a very long time, you'll gain weight... But these low carb hight fat diets are going to cause harm and damage to people in the long term, even if it leads to a short term quick weight loss.
      A balanced Omnivorous diet comprising of mainly starch, but some amount of Proteins & fats (+ vitamins, minerals) is what makes us healthy and safe and also helps us lose weight in a healthy long term fashion. Look at the Body of Doctor Atkins, was he slim? Look at Dr Berg's videos from 6 yrs ago and his recent videos. He was such a good looking man and now has aged 15 years in the last 6 years. There's another Keto channel of a Keto couple and the lady has not lost any weight in the last few years.
      Starch+vegetables+iodized salt based diet with the occasional fasting and occasional addition of fish, meat, eggs is the best way to lose weight long term without compromising on your health.

    The carbohydrate-insulin theory would seem to be disproven by diets like Kempner's "Rice Diet" and the more recent "Potato Hack." One person in Australia (Andrew Taylor) lost 121 lbs. by eating ONLY potatoes for an entire year.

    • @karlhungus5554
      @karlhungus5554 Рік тому

      @@Doctablet Since they lost weight, we know they had to be in a calorie deficit. But, as far as a numerical value, I'm not sure. In the case of the potato diet, without anything on them, potatoes are virtually impossible to overeat. They have low palatability, low fat, and high satiety...guaranteeing eating only when hungry and no more than required. If I have mashed potatoes with salt and butter or with gravy, forget about it. I'll eat a shipping container full of them. The same goes for white rice for me...with a light dusting of salt, I'll eat several cups in one sitting.
      The Mastering Diabetes channel has lots of success stories with people eating low-fat high-carbohydrate (whole food carbohydrates, of course) diets and losing fat, reversing Type 2 Diabetes in some cases, and even helping Type 1 diabetics lower their need for insulin while still eating several hundred grams of unprocessed, whole food carbohydrates each day...including and especially fruit. People can lower their blood sugar on low-carb diets, too, but they're managing the symptom and not resolving the underlying condition.

    De novo lipogenesis represents very little overall contribution to adipose tissue in humans, as the studies that suggest otherwise have been done on rodents. The ability of humans to store large amounts of glycogen has been understated. Fat biopsies have shown that the fat you eat is the fat that you store.

    Just some food for thought:
    I’ve lost 176 pounds over the last 20 months. I ate a lot of carbs during this weight loss.
    How much carbohydrate? At least %40 of my total calories were from carbohydrates.
    What kind of carbs? Processed carbs like white rice, white bread.
    The glycemic load matters. If you eat white processed bread, with other foods that contain protein and fats then it’s not the same as just eating the bread. You’ll get satiated from the protein and fats and can enjoy your white bread.
    It’s called a sandwich and I ate so many! Usually multiple a day. White dumpsters bread, white wonder bread, garlic naan bread, jalapeño and cheddar cheese bagels… when I wasn’t eating bread I was probably eating rice or potatoes or beans….
    It’s the calories that matter. If cutting carbs helps you keep your calories down then go for it but if your cutting carbs because you think you can’t lose weight and eat them at the same time remember I’ve lost 176 pounds with 40% of the food coming from carbohydrates.
