  • Over the thirty years between 1950 and 1980 Boston's population declined from 801,444 to 562,994. This decline can largely be attributed to families with children fleeing to the suburbs based on a perception of better schools and less crime. Since 1980, however, the City's population has stabilized and grown slightly.

After Boston, tv reporter Mike Taibbe went on to work as a tv reporter in NYC. His son is print journalist, Matt Taibbe. Both father and son have stellar reputations for producing high quality work.

Appalling. This man’s grace and dignity in the wake of such an incident is inspiring.
The “don’t visit” declaration was used recently in an almost-comedic fashion in Miami Beach, when the city and its law enforcement started to crack down on spiking violence and vagrancy-related crimes during spring break. Some organization (might’ve been naacp) interpreted a new curfew and heavy fines for civil violations as somehow being unfair to and unduly incriminating towards black people.
A declaration to all of black America, marking an entire city or state as dangerous used to be an imperative. Nowadays, so-called black leaders conflate any shred of accountability with the systemic racism of yesteryear. It’s almost a disservice to the men and women who actually suffered real indignities.

People always claim there is no racism “today” it’s all in past.
they said the same thing at time this video was made.

Black Americans like Mr. Lansmark did unspeakable damage by popularizing the term "people color" and "communities of color", while at the same time referencing organizations like the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association and other 'Black' organizations which openly advocated for him.
The NAACP then, like today, is an arm of the prevailing political apparatus which has done little for Black America besides adhere to benign neglect policies of local and federal government.
The attacks that took place during that busing issue up in Boston as well as what happened to Mr. Lansmark was because he was Black, not because he was a 'person of color'.
In retrospect, we understand that this rhetoric was used for the purpose of coalition building with immigrants from China, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, South America and the Caribbean during that time.
The problematic issues arose when Black Americans continually failed to realize (to this very day) that the aforementioned nationals were largely beholden to WS on a cultural level and looked upon Black Americans in the same light as the 'woods.
The reparations discussion should have been brought to the table during the anti-busing era. The 'woods would have been very amenable to this as they could have kept their rinky dink schools and neighborhoods white.
