I am 6'3" and "big boned" and I have over 3000 miles on my CBF already and it is absolutely perfect. I've done 350+ mile days a couple times and can actually walk when I'm done. Easily a beginner bike if coached well. I love my CBF! Great video by the way.
Your comment may have sold Honda another 500f. I'm 6'3" and have been debating between the 500f, the 500x, and the BMW g310gs. I think I will quickly grow tired of the BMW's 313 cc engine...and so I'm leaning toward this one. Been looking for someone my size who have ridden it.
Kontac yeah that’s true, the neutral indicator is by far way more important, happens so often that im at a red light and I’m not really out of gear 😂 But the gear indicator is a “nice to have feature”
I had a 2022 and absolutely loved it. I regret trading it in. I was surprised how hard you can push that little 500. I now plan on picking another one up strip it down and put sticky tires on it.
Ive had my orange beauty for just over a month now. My first bike and i already have over 3000k on her. I LOVE IT, really everything i wanted in a first bike. Looks great, cheap insurance, and enough power to get my on the freeway but not enough to really get me into any trouble. With the gearing of this bike especially first and second i would totally recommend it as a first bike. Great review, and you guys are Canadian too, that equals a new sub 👍🏼
EverythingisFire i was looking at the 300's too. When i saw the 2016's on sale to make way for the 2017's it was a no brainer. I'm glad i went this route, the 300 wouldn't be sufficient. The 500 gets you by but you aren't ripping past people by any means if you get what I'm sayin.
CB 500 is a great bike with enough power, its fun, economical, reliable, just a great bike. Basically I love mine. Now, this next problem is common to nearly all new bikes, so Im not getting at this great bike, I just happen to own one. BUT the pillion seat is to high and the pillion footrests are to high as well. The back seat is therefore a 'pirch', with the pillion having very bent legs. The pillion sitting high also increases the flex in the frame and raised the centre of gravity. Its the only problem with an otherwise world class bike. Bring back bench seats and rider and pillion footrests at the same level
Ive still got my eye on this bike, just so hard to get any money together when I'm really not working much right now. Ive got a little CFMoto 150 Leader (old 2012 model, they no longer sell) and I'm so ready to upgrade and this bike seems perfect.
I ride a CB125F with only a car license (legal here). I'm thinking of getting my full motorcycle license and get something bigger. The more I look I always end up on this one.
I have a 2013 I bought for my wife and she LOVES it. I really enjoy it too. Very smooth engine at any speed. Should have called it a 450 though since it's closer to 450 than it is 500.
Back in the day, I had a CB550F.....in that Orange. That was one of the things I hated about it. Well, it was the only thing I hated about it. I really didn't care much for the bike, and I can't tell you why. I guess it just wasn't exciting. It ran well, handled fine, was reliable and lightweight. I bought it used, and it was a couple years old. for $350, put about 5 or 6K miles on it and sold it for $450. Wish I it back now. It'd be worth 3-4K.
Mr. Dave seems to fit very well on the bike! What's his height? I'm trying to imagine a bit taller myself on it, before I even get the chance to sit on it. Thanks in advance
Do you 100% can get 400 miles on a tank full on that motorcycle. At 35 -40 mph you get 116 mpg. At 50 mph you get 85 mpg. Then slowing goes down as you increase speed.
Don't bother with a 300 if you can help it. A 500 will be much better all around, I've got the 2019 model and with normal riding I'm getting 93miles to the gallon and at 60mph the engine is only revving 5k rpm.
Indeed. You should check out our custom FZ-07 build that we had done. ua-cam.com/video/Y1e8KESfuEM/v-deo.html&list=PLeK8noiYjpnzNpxffN2v4N7OjdYqzZJ2v&index=1

Thanks very much for the comments. Glad you liked our review. It's a terrific bike!
Nice to know it can support bigger people and your right, because its such a balanced and easy to handle bike it can easily be a beginner bike.

When i see this bike my heart just melts...
you want a real bike, this is it , I've had the Ninja's and Triumphs. Want a good all = rounder. THIS IS IT. You won't be disappointed
Nice! David and I look about the same age and size. You sir are my ideal consultant. And confirm the CB500F is the bike for me. Thanks!
I like the color alot too!
Good no non sense review refreshing to see people review a bike and keep it to the facts.
Hello Honda. Please fit a $10 gear indicator onto these bikes. Everyone else does, why not you?
Rotherider the new 2019 version finally has it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't get why anyone needs it. I started on a cb300f without one and never missed having it.
Kontac I have a 2016 one without indicator, but sometimes I think it would give me more confidence to know in wich gear you’re in. 🤷🏼♂️
@@samsonkipp I guess everyone's different. I like the confidence a neutral indicator gives. As long as I have that I'm okm
Kontac yeah that’s true, the neutral indicator is by far way more important, happens so often that im at a red light and I’m not really out of gear 😂

I have a 2016 CB500F in matte black/silver, and I love it!!
I have the same bike and I'm loving it too!!!
How much do they cost on average?
Brand new they cost about £5,300. I bought one from a dealer with 120 miles on the clock for £4,600.
NABStar UK Ah okay. Looking for something entry level and this looked quite nice, not sure how it'd be price wise here in NZ
What's its top speed
Watched it again and gave it a 'thumbs up' this time. It's a good review.
Thanks very much.

Great to hear. Agreed. This bike is pretty versatile. Also, you can catch us on TSN as well!
Good to hear! I was leaning towards this over the 300's since I plan on doing a lot of highway riding.

Not So Happy Camper Hi there, I'm very much also interested in this bike, just want to know what mpg are you getting? Thanks
Metal sucks i get 3.8l/100km I'm in Canada so we use kilometres.
Love the quality of the video :)
Thanks. Everything we shoot is now 4K and shot with a high end Sony FS7 camera with a Cine Canon lens on it. Appreciate the feedback!

Have you checked the new SV650? Bigger engine and it's a V-twin. For less $
Wow thanks. Its hard to keep up with new releases so I would of missed this. I might go with that for the price.
The CB500Fs are quality, perfect middle weight bikes for commuting. My 2015 CB500F doesn't look as snazzy as these 2016/2017 versions but oh well.
I really like the styling re-design of the 2016+
I have 2017 pearl white! I love this bike
4 versions now including rebel 500
Right you are!
Not a CB but.. yes it shares the same Engine.
You can buy a aftermarket one around 99.00.
I ride a CB125F with only a car license (legal here). I'm thinking of getting my full motorcycle license and get something bigger. The more I look I always end up on this one.
Best looking bike at 0:07.
Good video but the music was almost competing with the narration at the beginning. love this bike

I've learned riding a year ago. I usually ride 160cc motor and i am used to it i think i can shift to that 500
Where’s the orange for sale? Any in the US, South east region?
so my question is:is this really much more comfortable than the sport version?cause i'd love some air defence
Forced to ride a YBR125 for 10 more months because im 18 but cant wait utill i can get one of these!
Benjamin Brewer I've been riding my ybr since 2010 and I'm 28. How do you think I feel?? 😂
Still alive? :D

Where did you find the orange in Ontario
Mr. Dave seems to fit very well on the bike! What's his height? I'm trying to imagine a bit taller myself on it, before I even get the chance to sit on it. Thanks in advance
Would this be a good bike for a 30 mile (one way) commute that's predominantly highway (70mph)?
Is it good enought for someone at 5.5 ft?
Y u r not showing back side tyre from distance take video I want to see matching tyre into bike

Bit heavy for the size, isn't it? Good review once the awful music stopped.
Thanks for watching and providing the feedback!
as for most honda's.. yeah a bit heavy.
Even the 70s version had an inline four. 😮
The crazy part is those inline fours made less power than this twin
Im low on budget, should i get the honda or the kawasaki z300?
Don't bother with a 300 if you can help it. A 500 will be much better all around, I've got the 2019 model and with normal riding I'm getting 93miles to the gallon and at 60mph the engine is only revving 5k rpm.
Bonjour monsieur combien coûte cette honda CB 500f
Ahh my fave colour..... But the matte black is soo damn sexy I can't decide!!
RED
If only it had a 270° crank
Discount Superduke?
I loved this when i started they keep saying 500cc no it is a 471cc engine again this is a great bike awesome for beginners !!
You must be crazy if you buy this instead of a fz07, the fz07 only a ground more !
Both great motorcycles.
Motorcycle Experience yes you're right
But the engine of the fz looks like riot !

I have just checked it out, it looks amazing congrats !
But are you planning on riding it ?!
It's being ridden quite often by its owner :)
E
im sure the bike is reliable and is super smooth, but man thats an ugly dash
still better than the CB650F, Man that's sure it's ugly.
