    I bought a 2019 Special and I love it. The p90's are so expressive. I never buy brand new guitars but this one was an exception. Gibson is definitely on the right track. Everyone should have a Special in their roolbox.

    If the TV yellow story were true, why did they make the cheapest guitar in TV yellow? Why not a TV yellow Custom? Musicians lucky enough to get on TV in the 1950's would want to play the best guitar, not the cheapest. I never believed this myth.

    • @ChrisBlythe737
      @ChrisBlythe737 3 роки тому

      1. Most bands would have no spare money.....
      2. Your problem is thinking a Gibson standard is the best guitar out there......this guitar rocks. I know what i would rather have.

    • @raymon8044
      @raymon8044 3 роки тому +1

      The Custom was black, back in those days. I don't think they were thinking about what their guitars looked like on this weird TV thing back then, it would never be big.. I think the yellow and cherry were the cheapest more easy ways for them to finish the guitars in and still have them look decent. But maybe that other yellow-ish singlecut guitar had something to do with the yellow too, Gibson tried to sell guitars to students so why not make your guitar look like something kids see in the hands of guys playing guitar. The custom was black because it was suposed to look like a fancy tuxedo suit. Even the late 50's Les Pauls in bursts weren't selling at the time so they discountinued it and revamped the Les Paul into the slinky double cut we now know as the SG. Les himself wasn't happy with the new guitar so he told Gibson to stop using his name for it. The fancy bursts for Les Paul Customs came in the late 60's when the brittish guitarheroes were seen playing those late 50's bursts and Gibson put the Les Paul back in production but figuring the players would want the next best thing, only making Customs for a brief moment.

    A demo shouldn't be all solos, but believe it or not, on occasion, some players have to play a lead so there ARE people that want to hear what single notes, runs/lead sound like. A good demo should be a mix of chords and leads, clean and dirty, so there's something for everyone. And for me personally, turn up the treble and reverb and throw in some ambient finger picking for good measure. The obligatory "no 'blooze noodling'" comment is getting as stale as the blues noodling. ✌🏻

      @@loudmouthnewyorker2803 the junior part has nothing to do with the size of the guitar. It was suposed to be a lower end student model hence the 'junior' part in the name. The special was the next step up from the junior for someone who wanted 2 pickups instead of just one. The standard came next and the custom was the top of the line model. The only real difference between the jr/specials and the standard/custom, is that the studend models have flat tops, like it's a straight flat piece of wood instead of the facy curved top on a standard or custom.

      It's called a wrap-a-round tailpiece for a reason. It's how they did it back then, even on Les Paul standards the first 2 years. They came up with the 'normal' tune o matic style bridge later on for their 'fancy' standard line but stuck with the wrap a round for their affordable student models like the Juniors and Specials because of the price point.

      Or the short and right answer....Because it doesn't have a bridge!

    I hate Green Day. Why did you waste your talent and a brand new guitar on that garbage? A+ on Lenny Kravtiz though.

      Because believe it or not some people might like green day,and may even dislike Kravitz.

    I love mine!!! Bought it last year, but after checking the serial#, found out it was made in 2011, not 2019. Weird. Maybe some old stock they're trying to move? Either way, I absolutely love it!!! It was the best $1,600 I ever spent. Very good clean jazzy tones, but has that gritty overdriven tone as well. No offense to the wonderful Mr. Lemmo, but it can sound way better than demonstrated here. But don't get one, I want mine to be rare when I'm older. 😉 We can't all be having them, or can we? 😁

      That just sounds weird. Why don't you ask the store you bought it from? Specs should be different, and they still asked the same amount as a new one.
