I've had a Safir 5 CP for over ten years now - it's a terrific tent, easy to use and really lovely to stay in. Great to be able to stand up and stretch whilst ignoring any howling gale outside. Also, I think four dog stove's presentation is an excellent overview.
As a proud owner of a Tentipi safir 9CP, i can only reckommend this tent! It never gets damp as a nylon tent, because the cotton/polyester (hence the name CP) Breathes. Having an open fire in the tent.. No problem! Using any stove in the tent.. No problem! Gas stove, multifuel etc No problem! Drying clothes inside will not create damp surfaces or atmosphere due to the ventilation of the fabric, it simply suck up the moist and transports it outside. For those who think about stability of this single pole tent, i can only say this: Forget it, it wont flip over or fly away. I´ve used mine in whole gale 48-55mph with gusts at storm level. Not even pegged the second sets of strings on the tent 5:33. It´s so easy and fast to set up, that the only contest ive lost was against a popup tent. My best time is less than 3 min. Using this tent extensively for 2 years i have discovered one 3 flaws. 1. rings on the tent to peg down the tent cant fit over the pegs (have to pull up the peg and replace through the ring) Fixed by adding carabine hook to rings. 2. Pegging canvas 1:42 hard to see when putting up the tent in the dark. (fixed by making plywood square with fluorescent paint, that also doubles as center pole support on soft ground) 3. Not enough free time to use this freaking beuty of a tent!! Feel free to ask any questions you might have about this tent.
The Safir 9 we have, happily holds 2 adults with single air mattress, 3 kids age 9-11-14 on a king size model, a gas stove for cooking, fireplace, and a gas fridge. + drybags for clothes and whatnots. Oh and a FT spaniel and a chowchow (dogs) It really depends on how much gear you will be packing. We tend to go a bit overboard on the gear side, beach chairs and small tables etc.. But a good idea would be to mark up the space on a lawn and check it out. Mind you the walls of the tent does not allow for standing the entire area. I can tell you one thing, after spending years curled up in the larger models of normal tents, this is a relief! And i am thinking about getting the Zirkon 15 just to be able to have more gear.. or more space between the gear. In conclusion: If the money is not an issue, go with the 9. If you dont mind being close to the other 2/packing less gear or weight is an issue, the 7 will accomodate you just fine.
russell Naylor The 3 most important parts of pitching a tent is location, location and location. Its all about the mental state actually. It does not matter that the floor is wet, when the fire is roaring and the rum is dark. Pick the high ground and you will be fine. If you pitch on wet grass/leaves etc. it dries in 10-15 min after you get a fire going inside. we once had a little river run through the tent, but it was easily diverted with the tent flaps and some rocks, untill we decided it was kinda cozy with it inside and removed the obstructions and let the stream into our 35 ceclius tent again :)
FullCanoe , do you have any pictures of your family using this tent this way? I'm looking very closely at the Tentipi and trying to decide whether the 15 or the 9 would work better for my family of 5.
very good job on this video really interested in this tent, vs some others I been looking at only issue going to Tentipi site They do not have prices or locations to purchase them from?
Yeah I got one for 5 years now - I would disagree one some points, the attention to details ect one the tent in this HEAVY price, is disapointing, for instance the floor system ridiculus and useless design, the should have been a bathtub design with sidewalls (like in old native tipi's) ..and there are lot more details that could be improved ... That said... Its very very rugged !! It will take a beating and you can TRUST this tent to keep u warm and dry... I have seen crazy fires in these tents, in very harsh weather... so for ROUGH use its awesome ...
I don't understand why no one makes a winter camping, stove-ready, canvas DOME tent to maximize interior headroom while minimizing fabric square footage and weight.
This tent is for colder seasons, a mesh tent with a removable rain fly is best for summer. If you love camping, you start accumulating different tents for different situations. I'm looking into my first hot tent for winter camping.

How do they do in the rain? Without a bucket floor it seems as if water would flow in. I know alot depends on choosing a good location.
I can't decide on size. I'm looking at getting one for three people and gear. What would you recommend? The Safir 7 or 9?

..what's a bathtub floor?
I actually went out and bought the CP9 floor, 2 years ago and this model is exactly a bathtub floor about 4" (10cm) raised sides from the ground.
Are there any dealers in the USA
You can get them in the USA by going to www.mansfieldoutdoors.com/
They are out in WA and they would be able to help you.

fall winter and spring? Why not summer?
Usually it's summer fall and spring.
the point is as abase camp in colder seasons your good to go... summer is fine.. but it's best with an inner tent if you're concerned about ticks.

Nice tents but not manufactured in Sweden anymore. They produce in China now.
No corners cut u say? What??
Its a circle...
All the corners have been cut!
the price is so far out of line as to be rediculous.
"swedish manufacturing".... lol made in china
