Sharing your personal experience helps likely someone who goes through a similar situation somewhere in the world, to not feel so alone. It's all about connecting with people we can relate to. It is always good to be reminded that no life is always perfect. We all have some struggles. It is hard to be in a different country, away from where our roots are. But you made a lovely home for you and your husband. And you touch and brighten many lifes with your videos. Thank you.
What a wonderfully kind message, thank you. Absolutely, we all have our differences and difficulties in one form or another. Thank you for your support here S. 💕
Jeni I am so sorry that it was difficult for you and your mother when you first came to the United States. It shouldn’t have been that way. I am so thankful that your mother found a new love and that you have Justin. (and you have us, we love you) Thank you for sharing and for your beautiful videos.❤ Bev in Colorado
Yes i do. Camembert and cider country.Lovely and peaceful but we are city people so sold up and have a place in the South of France. Nice. For sunshine and the beach I am lucky and love it. Look forward to future vlogs Jenny and thank you for sharing.🥰
The dishes, forks, & book are truly lovely! Lucky, beautiful finds! BTW, some people are oddly strange, I'd say stick with your gut response, girl & human is just perfect! Luv it! Frankly, it is none of their concern! Pasts are just that, the past! You are the now and future! Stay strong! I have a bracelet & ring that says "live in the moment" Best motto ever!
So sweet to share your childhood Jenny .. as I’m sure it was painful. I come from a single parent family too, my mum struggled in the 70s when it wasn’t accepted or understood I hope Justin is feeling better.. so wanted those cocotte dishes 😊
I had a holiday home in rural France in lower Normandy... I found that that they were inquisitive. Lovely people. My husband spoke fluent French and even joked in French which they loved. My French unfortunately was limited. You find that it is easier in big cities. You have a beautiful place in France and love your vlogs and brocante hunting. ❤
Don't worry Jenny, you are not biracial to me. You are just a sweet, talented, lovely person! I come from the midwest,BTW...hi from Kansas City USA , and grew up in a small town in SE Kansas. My family was on the 'poor' side and I experienced some prejudice because of that. I had 3 brothers & 3 sisters, me the eldest. I helped my Mom a lot and worked since I was 11, as did all of us kids. We did that and bought our own clothes and had our own spending money. And we were smart kids and all turned out better than the 'richies' of the town. So just remember that some things that life puts us thru can benefit us in the long run! Hope you and Justin are feeling better now and Happy New Year! Love you guys!♥️♥️♥️😘
Thank you for sharing your background with us Connie! It’s wonderful to know that our viewers are also open to sharing their experiences with us too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jenny, you are so pretty. You remind me of a classmate my son had in his preschool in Glendale. I dont remember her name, but I have pictures of their graduation at a park. Happy 2024 to both of you!
I love going on your brocante adventures with you guys and seeing what you select. As well as getting a drive by glimpse of the beautiful villages. You have my dream life!! How did you and Justin meet and discover your shared passion? @frenchcountryfriends
Thank you for joining us! We met in Scotland, found one another in a bar and shared an instant connection. I’ve always had a passion for thrifting and when we moved here to the countryside I thought reselling would be a great source of income especially since I’ve always dreamed of owning a boutique.
Hi Jenni. I hope we would welcome you with open arms here in New Zealand. Funny how people have to ask who/what is our background. You have Justin & hopefully new friends of like mind in France. Stay well enjoy 2024l
Yes, great tip, thank you! I have done that or have placed extra cardboard around the box but going forward, I need to do everything I can to help with shock absorbtion.
I am the outcome of an intercultural marriage from Indian and Chinese culture. I certainly get the stare from people who is just curious of the “how it could be” I have learned to appreciate the curiosity of people, the leading questions and what it is to be mixed race child.
I hate to hear that people of a mixed race suffer so and im pleased your mum found a new love - i love the scrap book what a great find ❤ Im looking for a cream range cooker yours looks lovely could i ask the make and if its gas or electric? Thanks for sharing ❤
Your story is sad but also rewarding because you are now in a happy place. I know there were many intermarriage 's that happened during the war days. From Melb😊
I do not see any problem asking for a person background especially when someone like you is sooo beautiful..it is part of observing our population genetical diversity....I am often curious here in the US where combinations are endless and extremely beautiful. 😊
Jenny you are a beautiful individual and to me being mixed has many advantages. I come from a mixed background Italian with Indonesian. My husband was half English and Polish. Have two beautiful children, boy and a girl. My daughter married an Italian from Venice and I have 2 beautiful grandchildren. We always get asked where we are from? People are intrigued a we are different. I consider myself lucky as I have so many countries to call home in a way. Walk tall my lovely enjoy your life. Love your vlogs. ❤
@elizabethbrzezicka2283, wow that’s quite the mix! Thank you for sharing a bit of your history with us here. ❤️This area is very rural so I think I’m feeling more self conscious. Definitely didn’t feel this way in Paris and definitely not in California. I will walk proud, je promis.
Thank you for an excellent video! Very informative. What are your thoughts about Expat seniors living in France? As retired educators (we helped a new school open in Lviv - Aug-Dec), we are exploring Poland (Dec-Jan), Estonia (Feb), and possibly France. Toulouse is amazing!! Paris is beautiful and walkable. Nice too looks beautiful and welcoming. We seek a walkable, affordable, and comfortable place to call home. My wife Cindy has MS, so calm is a required component. I grew up in Los Angeles, working & driving 24/7, so the European pace is very attractive. Thank you. Dean & Cindy
When we last visited Toulouse, I remarked on how I would have loved to experience living in the city as opposed to Paris. I find Toulouse more manageable in the sense of calm and feeling more relaxed. The availability of healthcare should be a priority for those who need it or foresee needing so if living abroad keep in mind that the access to healthcare and the ability to communicate is key. Living in these rural areas, or smaller communities, English is rarely spoken or understood. You’ll find general practitioners but will need to travel to major cities for specialist appointments. I feel it best to do the research and find a quiet place to reside but living close to good healthcare where you are understood. I enjoyed visiting Nice. Côte d’Azur….
Thank you, Jenny. There are so many beautiful cities! We discovered that Cindy's MS is less active here (Lviv, Krakow, Gdansk). So we wonder if it is the slower pace, the walkable cities, less MSG, or something else. We are still exploring. When we return to Portland we will see if her MS becomes more active. Since France has excellent healthcare, the idea of moving there....Dean & Cindy @@Frenchcountryfriends
I believe our everyday surroundings and the foods we eat have a powerful impact on our health, mood and emotions. I wish you both well on your journey and hope that Cindy MS remains manageable. Even a miracle cure! 💕
Im a girl, im a woman!! Great 👍 answer.. but i dont think people mean to be mean, its sometimes just curiosity instead of them assuming what country or people you come from..

Jenni you are lovely. I look at people from another perspective, if I feel good vibes. That is much more valuable. Thanks for sharing
I agree, the energy is very important when meeting or surrounding ourselves with people. 😍

As a person who has moved to France and packed 100 boxes for shipping our trick is to pack a box within a box. A trick used by glassblowers. FYI
Yes, great tip, thank you! I have done that or have placed extra cardboard around the box but going forward, I need to do everything I can to help with shock absorbtion.

Hi- have you done a lime wash on your walls? I love the look so much!
No we didn't, but I've used it in our cottage and love the technique! Do you have limewash finish?
No, but I love the look. I love the shadowing on your walls. Just gorgeous. @@Frenchcountryfriends

You are lovely - that is how I would describe you!! Oh I hope you add chickens to your land - that compost would make them so happy!!
Merci! 🥰 I can’t convince Justin to adopt any animals. 🤣
