- Опубліковано 12 лис 2022
- We went behind the scenes at the British Open at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes finding out what Stephen Hendry does in his role as pundit visiting the studio, commentary box and green room as well as the TV truck to see how a live match is produced.
We also got to see the warm up room and how players such as Mark Selby prepare for a match and Stephen shares his memories of the tournament.
Let us know which other events you’d like us to go behind the scenes of in the comments and subscribe to the channel for more great snooker videos.

Stephen really is turning into a natural presenter. Speaks very clearly, no tripping over his words, and nice pacing.
the commentary is amazing, constantly predicting correct shots and outcomes. Its like seeing into the future.
@John Thomas Generally 3-4 shots ahead the pros Iv'e listened to say which makes sense as a bulked up table can change rapidly
so awesome to see this side of stephen, growing up and watching him play i always thought he was miserable, glad to see him looking happier than ever and relaxed infront of the cameras. really cool to see, much needed positivity in this mad world
Yeah, to be fair that's probably an element to his huge success. He seemed to keep to himself and stay extremely serious and focused on his game. That does seem to be the way of professional snooker. Maintaining an extremely high level of focus and accuracy for a very long time, and every little helps. The difference between one player winning a match and the other losing could often just fall down to the fact one managed to avoid distractions and get a sensible early night etc.
Yeah I totally agree! Through the 90s we all sat in the living room as a family to watch Stephen play and win world titles etc it was some of the greatest nights we had as a family (we’re from Scotland). He always seemed miserable your so right! Nice to see him like this and he’s adapted to this role really well.
Cool guy and not up his own arse like so many become.
@@andymcneil7085 Ronnie cool also
Great guy Hendry really enjoy the tips he gives so far on the other vids. I’m playing better already 👍
This kind of content is brilliant Stephen, the whole channel so far is really good keep it up, really interesting
Noppon was so humble and respectful :) This channel is amazing!
Noppon is probably the most respectful guy on the tour, I love his enthusiasm for the game, he gives the impression he takes every day on the tour as a gift and an honour to be in the presence of his peers. Unfortunately that probably almost makes him too nice to hit the no.1 spot, but I always like to see him playing well and getting a result here or there.
Stephen - this is the biggest gift to the fans you could give. Thank you so much for starting this channel!
Great watch thank you👍👍
I love this behind the scenes content. Please give us more stephen. You are the greatest after ronnie o .sullivan . Sullivan is the GOAT and you are a king of snooker
Hendry is a good example of how to use your expertise and keep us interested in a sport.
Very bright and teaches what he knows very well too.
Best part about this channel Stephen - is seeing you talk, smile and laughing - as opposed to your ice cold front during a game ! Well done, and throughly enjoying this new channel of yours.
thank you for the music suggestions stephen hendry!!!!!
This channel keeps getting better. It'd be great to spend time with Mark Selby, hopefully you can get him on.....
1:24 - “you spend too much time in this chair means you’re getting beat”. 😂
Classic Stephen Hendry humour.
Great watch again! 😀 loving this new channel
The saviour of snooker? nice to see this behind the scenes
The buttons to save a shot to discuss later in the studio... so simple but also genius. A great behind the scenes tour, love to see more of this content
This is great hand-in-hand content to go with your teaching on the table.
Really good that Stephen. Been watching snooker for 40 years and never had the behind the scenes view.
Definitely more of the same.
Very interesting, Steve makes a natural presenter
Hendry seems like a good bloke. And a Smiths fan 👌
One of my favourite videos on the channel, showing an aspect of the media coverage I've never seen before as well as pre tournament prep. Relaxed and well delivered presentation style from Stephen. Hope to see lots more vids in the future.
Love the channel…. GREATS OF THE SPORT….love all the stories……..
I love the fact that the big names I watched with my grandad are now commentating the modern game. It really transforms the viewing.
I'm not a massive snooker fan, but I am loving all this content when I randomly watch one every now and then. Great stuff!
Loved this behind the scenes stuff....stephens such a nice guy too....and what a formidable player he was too.
Amazing behind the scenes vid! Better than any of the ones they do on tv. Great work on this channel, Stephen, been watching you since I was about 4 in 1989. I hope you'll also do many more of the casual player interviews while playing a couple of frames together. Brilliant format, simple and obvious idea that I've always thought should be done on the tv and never has. The few times I've seen players interviewed at a table they never actually play or just demonstrate one shot or something and then they get the bums rush by the presenter. The fact you know them really enhances the discussion beyond most interviews also. It would be a dream to get to play a frame or two with you, so this is the next best thing (without you trouncing me too!).
More great snooker content like this along with many more good snooker clubs that have proper grade tables are what's needed to get more people into the game on a professional level. Here in Liverpool we have never had a single snooker club with a decent table and I've never actually found one anywhere on my travels. Playing with chipped, scuffed up balls, ragged cloths and generally badly maintained tables does nothing for your game. It was an eye opener the first time I played on a freshly maintained table once and suddenly was potting about twice as many shots, simply because I wasn't getting about 50% kicks and roll-offs.
Cool
Very interesting. In my club we have someone who cleans the cloth before we play, the pool table there is decent, the snooker tables are pretty good I think (I can't tell)
2:33 - That shortened table in the studio is amazing :D
Stephen is a natural when it comes to presenting
Mr Stephen Hendry your channel is superb
Absolutely brilliant to see not just behind the scenes, but also almost like getting to know Stephens sense of humour a bit more. What a great guy . Keep em coming.
A natural in front of the camera Stephen. Respected throughout and glad you’re still part of the snooker scene 👍🏻🏴
This is just fantastic to see this side of Stephen!!
He really has a lovely softness about him. Really draws you in.
You have a great Spirit Sir ❤️🇮🇪
Hendry is a great presenter, seeing him talking briefly about enjoying being coached again is a great lesson no matter how great you are you can always learn and improve.
Stephen is just getting better every year.. great videos!!
Fine Scottish man .the voice of fellow Scot’s are made for commentary. And a fifer to boot well done mate
Nice one Hendry. Thanks for the content.
The content u present is so refreshing..
Keep going the king
nice to see all the people and machines behind the running of snooker tournaments, thanks
A life on the table and in front of the camera has set Stephen up well for this. Excellent stuff.
My favourite sportsperson and a real hero of mine. Such a lovely man to meet too. Loving the channel! Loved his lockdown stuff with the other guys - a lovely concept this channel too! Amazing to see what goes on in a natural way.
Reminds me of david brent and I absolutely love it. My new favourite channel.
This Channel and the access Hendry gets is just brilliant
Long may it continue so snooker fans can see all sides of the game
Broadcast legend too!
Quality video, great to get an insight behind the scenes. Thanks Stephen. 👍
Stephen is a natural presenter. With a touch of humour. His Cue Tips UA-cam blog is also good.
Loving the channel. Would love to see more practice table chats like the Mark Williams one. Would be great to see one with Judd recreating some of his most outrageous shots & seeing Stephen have a go at them too....
I actually enjoyed this. Thanks Stephen
Steven is such a great guy , I can’t think of a more suitable person to show us around back stage …
Thanks again Stephen. Fantastic content. 👍👍
Fantastic stuff for snooker lovers!
Thanks for high quality content! Love from India!
How natural is stephen and how much time does he have for everyone , brilliant stephen
great to see behind the scenes!
Great video very interesting to see. Selby such a top bloke! A Leicester legend 🙌🏻
Nice insight. Really well made too.
😆 at 5:42, I thought she was going to get the Clippers out and give Stephen a quick trim 🙂
Fantastic insight please do more.
Great way to get a look behind the scenes and get a viewpoint from Stephen as a commentator-presenter and player
I always comment to people I watch the snooker with that the little montages after matches are always well put together and must have to be done quick because they play them as soon as they come back from the commercial break after the last frame. Now we know it's all top quality work from Martin Reardon 👍
That was another really enjoyable watch. Thanks guys! Stephen is still the best player I’ve ever seen and he’s a superb analyst and pundit: calls it as he sees it and doesn’t soft peddle the players. Loving this channel!
Great footage!
You and Davis not talking to players before going out reminds me of Roy Keane!
Cheers Stephen! Years ago I asked Steve Davis (on a live chat) to suggest a "behind the scenes" look at commentary as part of the BBC World Championship coverage, eg as one of those short VTs they run during an interval or between matches. But that never happened, so I was really pleased and grateful to see you'd done one :) Very interesting to see how you guys make sure the coverage is as good as possible.
really enjoyed the video, thanks Stephen.
Hi Stephen, I played snooker (blind pool, pin single & star, backabag (..golf?) etc)) when cue tips were glued on using wee discs made from rendered animal parts, softened in boiling water, transferred by knife point & placed on prepared cue tip. Changed Days! It's 38 years since I last played snooker until I recently joined a local pensioners club which have the luxury of a full sized table. I feel as if I've returned tae my misspent (as some would say) youth. I bought a new (18.9 oz) ¾ cue with case & 2 o Ronnies Elk Master tips etc. I've been playing or re-learning the game for about a month now & inbetween discussions of various oponent's ailments, operations etc I've found that the table seems much larger than I remember & now wearing glasses for short & long distance can detract a bit from the enjoyment If ye bump intae Dennis could ye ask him whaur he gets his glasses? Watching your video above will help me as I am still missing balls (on the table) that I should pot easily. Initially I thought that these misses were caused by the tip on the cue being harder than tips of years past. So I re-tipped the cue wi' Ronnies Elk Master which I later found out to be classed as a "Soft" rated 60? tip. It suits me better than the previous one & I'll persevere with it but I still think this one's 'feel' is harder than older tips. One thing that, I feel, would be beneficial for all standards of player is a video of your experience on "cue weight & tips" as I think that todays trends has turned into a bit of a mine field today as far as selection & performance is concerned. (e.g. In my teens 16oz was great, 20's-30's I went up to heavy 17.5oz.) Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks for the insight Stephen.
really grateful a man of Stephen's calibre is showing us. Nippon recognised it and did a respectful bow to him
Really enjoyed that insight….great content 👍🏻
Thank a lot Stephen.plz continue your activity. So amazing 👏
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Loving every second of the channel! Thank you for spending your time on it!
Brilliant to see you doing this on UA-cam. Makes me feel my age though, I remember watching a fresh faced you coming into the snooker big time.. the onward march of time hey.
Thanks Stephen, loved every second of that!
Great backstage view and glad to see how much efforts are made behind those videos we watch
It always intrigued me how they fitted a snooker table in the Itv studio! Now we know!
Class, I love these videos thank you so much and looking forward to watching many more
Superb! Great to see behind the scenes footage. Looking forward to seeing some more from other tournaments
Absolutely brilliant,loving this channel!!
It’s great to see behind the scenes. Having been to some of the venues in the past it’s shocking how small it actually is. Camera makes it bigger for the viewers.
That was really good to see behind the scenes at a big event. It’s a big production to make everything run smoothly. Thanks Steven, loving the content on this channel! 👏🏼
Really really enjoyed that.... Keep them coming 👍
Thanks Stephen. Enjoyed that.
That editor who does the bbc closing segments is amazing. Legendary. No idea how he can pick tracks off his spotify though - copyrighted music is usually a massive obstacle
this was great! really enjoying the content Mr Hendry and his team are pushing out!
Great video Stephen. Wonderful to see behind the scenes. Really excellent work.
This really is a great channel! Mixing technical snooker stuff with tournament insights and player interviews. Stephen is turning into a really good presenter as well as being a good commentator 🙂👍
Great video Stephen - very interesting to see behind the scenes. Definitely a bit of David Brent in your style 😂
These videos have been fantastic. Nice and varied aswell
Awesome stuff, Stephen!
Nice and varied content Stephen! Love the behind the scenes nuggets like these 👍🏼
great content, thanks for this Stephen
Awesome structure!! First class!
Really enjoyed that Stephen! :-)
Fantastic tour and the editing is spot on, great job Stephen and team!
Love these videos!
Martin Reardon was listening to Bruce Springsteens born to run album before you got there. Already I know he’s a top bloke. Tell him to get some Springsteen playing on the next tournament. Great channel by the way.
I cannot thank you enough for doing what you do. Your channel is fantastic and I really enjoy the content. This look behind the scenes is really special to people like me who have watched and loved the game for well more that half our lives. (I'm pushing toward 65 by the way).
damn man it was a great great watch...
keep up the good work
Cheers
I don't know why the youtube algorithm brought me to snooker. But I'm oddly addicted.
Looking forward to more tips on how It's played at different levels.
What a great ambassador of sport this guy is , whilst he played he was appreciated pretty less considering how ahead of his time he was yet now it’s completely different .
Another nice video Stephen, thanks for this, it is nice to have a insight how everything comes together. Chris
Great video, thanks,
Top work Stephen brilliant insight
Amazing content Stephen
All the staff looks chill as well
