  • Quick build and test of a Lego pump that sucks air. It can generate a 70% vacuum.
    At the end I show another Lego way to create vacuum: Lego pneumatic pump pushing air out of a jar. This can generate a 63% vacuum. Water boiling test to prove the gauge was correct. Enjoy!

    Can I just point out that -20psi is an impressive vacuum.
    My former manager told me that a -20psi vacuum is an aeronautical standard.
    I believe him, although I haven’t found any evidence to support that just yet.
    He previously worked in the aeronautical industry.

    • @jacobcombs1106
      @jacobcombs1106 Рік тому

      That is in inches mercury(in Hg) not PSI. considering they are at standard atmospheric pressure in their room which is only about 14.5 PSIA so a -20 PSID would make the inside of the jar -5.5PSIA which is not possible. But 20 in HG is about 9.8 PSI which is still impressive as it means the pressure in the jar is only about 4.7 PSIA.
      Now if you pressurize a space to above atmospheric pressure you can then experience differential pressures where there is an apparent vacuum of 20 PSI, but not in the conditions of this video.
