  • This 2nd version of the Orvis Recon has been on the market for a couple years now but we still wanted to show it to you, break down the rod and talk about some of the highlights on this rod. This rod is an exceptional value for a USA made rod. If you have a Recon comment below what you think about it! If you are interested and thinking about purchasing a Orvis Recon or any other gear come by one of our three locations in WNC or check out www.flyshopusa.com!

    I prefer the 1st gen Recon…..I’ve got a 4wt, 6wt & an 8wt., beautifully casting rods.

      $225 a good price for a 6wt first gen you think? What type of action? Thank you

      @@rootedrotor525 if it’s in clean shape, that’s a great price! They are feather light with a really smooth action that isn’t hard to cast and handles the haul nice.

    How is the 6 wt 9’6” for streamers, hopper droppers and high stick nymphing? Also is there a difference in the 9’ vs the 9’6”?

      the 9'6" 6wt would be a great option for those applications especially if you are fishing bigger rivers and lakes. The 9'6" version will have a fighting butt and will be slightly stiffer/faster to help cast and deliver fly rigs on those bigger bodies of water or in a boat.

    Would the Hydros II be little heavy on the 3wt 8' 4" or would you go with the Hydros I?

      I think the hydros II would work with it being a longer 8'4" length.

    would a 7 weight variant of this rod at 9 feet be good for central texas bass and coastal redfish?

    • @tuckaseegeeflyshop
      @tuckaseegeeflyshop  Рік тому

      Yes it will be a great option for bass and redfish. I will say if your fishing for bull reds in the fall in the gulf you may want an 8 or 9wt as well, they get pretty large lol
