You always can add classic hats to your Sartorial wardrobe i myself wear always hats from flatcap to the bowler and top hat depending on the formal occasions

I wouldn't even take it in - size 36 fits you perfectly right out the box! Nice pattern and color choice. Really fits the autumn/winter season. Glad you got your money's worth!
Such a great company! Ordered several items from SM recently as well, had to go through the same customs and VAT paying process, however it is worth it. And yeah, they also returned me 50% of paid customs duties as in-store credit to make it more bearable. Found no alternatives in EU at such quality-to-price level

I own two Spier & Mackay Neapolitan gun club check jackets. I love the wide lapel and find that this is my best fitting of-the-rack jacket. I intend to buy some more.
I absolutely love the cloth. It's very hard to find a jacket that has a prominent pattern, and yet for it to be so wearable and not feel overbearing, that you wouldn't feel weird wearing it to the office. In large part probably due to the sensible choice of muted colors.
@@NeilNatic I actually had to pay for taxes twice, I don't know if it was a problem UPS caused or if there was just some kind of delay or miscommunication. But all summed up, 99,67€ just for the taxes is quite some money and it made the jacket cost 375,05€ instead of the 275,40€ stated on their website!
@@SartorialStyles so 275, 20% VAT (about, not sure what yours is) is 55, you can't have possibly paid VAT twice. You likely paid duties, which are due over 150€, and are computed ON TOP (yes, stupid) of item+shipping+vat, they vary largely but I've heard usually about 10%, which would make 33€+ (depending on shipping) and we're at 88€. Finally, the courier usually charges about 10€ for customs paperwork, and that's 98€. So i'm pretty sure that is how you reached that amount, not being charged VAT twice. It's why I never buy from outside EU, sadly. If I have to throw away that much money to customs, I'd rather give them to a slightly more expensive local business. I'm not a huge fan of SuitSupply stylists, but they just introduced a M2M service which is the most advanced I've seen yet for online orders, i.e. you can tweak basically everything, including advanced measures that you usually don't get to decide (e.g., armhole, sleeve pitch, etc.). With 300-500€ you can get a M2M jacket that way, which is actually great value in EU. The only problem is, you need to know perfectly what you need, or go to a store (I don't have one nearby) and trust their fitters (which I'm not sure I would do, they're famous for pushing skinny things). edit: i have switched things around, actually you pay VAT on top of item+shipping+duties, but still it's going to be around the same thing. You even pay VAT on insurance for the goods, which seems so stupid to me.

Were your pockets sewn closed? If so did you open them? I recently got a navy sportscoat from Spier & Mackay and the hand pockets are sewn so tightly that I'm not sure how to open them! I know pockets are usually closed in new jackets, but the hand pockets are very tight! The breast pocket is very weakly stitched and I can open it a bit, so for that one it is obvious that it should be opened. But the hand pockets can't be opened one bit! My hand pockets are flap pockets though...
I am 1,81m tall and weigh about 65 kilograms. At SuitSupply I wear an EU44, the sleeves are slightly short then. The 36 worked very well for me at S&M.
Hello Sebastian! I'd say that depends on where you live. In Europe, SuitSupply is pretty much in the same price range but in the US they are more expensive. Collaro also offers pretty nice jackets for a fair price and during their discounts Oliver Wicks would be a good idea as well. I'm gonna try StudioSuits very soon, they also sit in the same price range as Spier & Mackay does.

I don't understand, if they are made in Europe. Why don't they ship from an EU warehouse and skip the whole import duties + tax...they are leaving a huge market out
I don't think they are made in the EU, probably in Asia or in Canada where they are based. Only the fabric is woven in Italy (at least this jacket's fabric).

don't want to sound mean but you should hit the gym, those shoulders are crying for attention, nothing too extreme, just normal transition from boyish to manly, you'll be buffed in no time and the missus will appreciate it, ladies love broad shoulders and jackets will look even better on you.

Yes, they were. The chest pocket was quite easy to open, while the jetted pockets are sewn more closely. I haven't tried opening them yet!
I have very broad shoulders and want to avoid the look of shoulder pads, I think this cut would benefit me. Would you agree?
