I was anxious for you to get on to the high-waist trousers, because they are SO hard to find, even 3 years on from the posting of this video - and it's a fit I need because of my elderly build. But I stopped being impatient, because I was very impressed by your jacket, which fits you perfectly. My current favourite online tailor is iTailor, who have made 2 suits, and 2 pairs of trousers for me - I don't wish to desert them: their quality of service deserves loyalty; but Collaro looks like being another place to go if, for any reason, I have to.

Do NOT use this company. Zero talent, no integrity and poor craftsmanship. There's absolutely no reason to order from them. I got a jacket that was so far off my measurements, I had to throw it away.

What was your process for having the suit tailored? Did you get your measurements done beforehand and order it made-to-measure or did you get it off the rack and have it tailored in-person? This is exactly the type of suit I want with the same type of fit, that's why I ask 😀

Nice dinner jacket! However as a bow tie wearer there is one thing that bothers me. The bow tie gap that shows throughout. You should’ve tightened the bow tie and re-tied it to totally cover the collar space. It always looks much better especially when wearing formal wear if there is no bow tie gap showing. You want the bow to stand out looking a sharp as possible and avoiding any sort of gap at the collar. This way you will be a very sharp dresser.

Hello SartorialStyles, thank you for this review, I appreciate how honest and informative it is, and think you have a well developed sense of style. I have never had a suit made for myself before and don't know how to go about it, but I am of the age and income now that I'd like to have my own suit made and have been mulling over studiosuits as an option. I like all of the customization options that studiosuits provides, and have not been able to find another custom suit service that provides as much customization as studiosuits. I also know that this suit will be tweed, and studiosuits seems to have, by far, the widest selection of tweed fabric I could find. My question for you is do you think I could find this level of customization and selection of tweed fabrics anywhere else? Do any other services compare that you know of? Price is not a factor, just fabric selection and customization options.

Hockerty is an absolutely HORRIBLE brand, i ordered shoes once, they came so damaged i couldnt even hide it, then they made me PAY for returning them to send me a new pair that came AS DAMAGED AND MORE than before, very bad customer service and very low quality stuff

A couple things in your learning process. White contrast collar shirts in Look #2 are a big No! Also the sleeves on your Navy Jacket are way too short. Good luck on your journey.

Basted is pronounced "baysted" not "bassted" Also the jacket should be a few cm longer.

Benjamin, I enjoy your videos when they pop up. You have a great sense of style and you know what works for you. However on your tuxedo review as well as your Dinner Jacket review I notice something that does not look right. That something is a bow tie gap. I’m a tuxedo wearing gentleman myself (I have seven custom tuxedos as well as a white DJ) and it took me a bit of time to figure out how to rid myself of that gap so that the bow tie looked perfect. By tightening up the bow before you tie it up you get rid of the gap that is created and you get a better looking bow tie as that gap at the top of the shirt disappears and the button sits under the knot of the bow tie (you can check this out by using your index finger and feeling for the knot which should be in front of the button. If it’s in position you’ll feel the fabric on one side of the finger and the button on the other.) You might need to adjust the bow by straightening it up but the gap should no longer be visible. You want to have a continuous line between your collar points and the bow’s wings should not go beyond the points or your eyes. The perfect collars for bow ties are either semi-spreads or cutaway collars (which have the added advantage of disappearing behind the bow tie so that bow tie is all you see. And then there is the wing collar where the bow tie holds down the points of the wing collar and you see the band of the bow tie wrapped around the collar. It however, looks better with a tail suit than a tuxedo. In all cases, you want to avoid bow tie gap as that gap at the top looks awful and detracts from a carefully created look which is what you want when wearing a tuxedo. Hope you’ll take a look at any of your videos featuring your tuxedos and see what I am referring to. Then, hopefully you’ll really cinch up on tightening that first knot so that in the end, you’ll wind up with a very snug/tight bow tie that looks really smashingly beautiful. Oh yes, it takes time to get used to a snugly tied bowtie but once you do, you’ll never go back to what you had as it feels too loose or like you have no bow tie on at all.
