I have to say I work in a Kitchen, and when we are in the busiest part of the night, and we have music on if Slayer or megadeth or Something heavier comes on It's like chugging 5 redbulls. The energy boost is enormous. And the Faster the music the faster food goes out of the kitchen. So genres like Thrash, speed, and power metal are great in high stress situations. Some death and other genres can be good, but they very from song to song

Impaled, heavily inspired by Carcass, took the concepts of using formal terms and medical terminology to describe malicious, gory procedures/occurrences with such specificity and really cranked up the surgery vibe on their sophomore album 'Mondo Medicale'. The album was even banned in 84 countries due to the cover art being highly realistic disfigurement (which I believe was a band member or affiliate. their debut album features a dudes legs near a toilet with his pants down, intestines shat out, for which they went to a butcher shop and got animal viscera for photo-realism), as opposed to the usual hand-drawn/computer-illustrated art.
They have several topics, beginning the album with a track arguing the 'do no harm' oath, professing misanthropic ideals, then moves into a song about 4 INFECTED HOSTS TOURING THE WORLD AND SPREADING THEIR PLAGUE. Another song boasts about extremely passionate medical malpractice, eventually leading to their own death via capital punishment. More satire than any band I know of [at least of those possessing a respectable level of musicmanship]. They use samples on their first album, but otherwise, are involved in their own skits. There is a music video for the 4th track 'Operating Theater' on UA-cam. The whole album is listenable on UA-cam in low-fi. It's not on Spotify, so either get the CD or download it to properly honor their excellent, oftimes harmonizing riffing, grindy drums, multi-vocalists, and like Carcass - poetically-named guitar solos.

So basically just because? I mean, mostly because of the Carcass influence, and they did it because of Walker's sister. I kinda expected some other *psychological* explanation linking metal to interest in medical terms, other than "yeah sound brutal, dude". I've always asked myself the same thing, "sound brutal af, but why that obsession?". *So here's my own analysis:*
Just like Slayer, many bands were trying to sound as gore as possible, in the most realistic way possible, because the genre came from bands like Black Sabbath and Misfits and those bands wanted to be the musical version of horror movies, so another step further asides speed, lower tuning and growling, was doing what horror movies do to be scarier: be realistic. And while Jeff Hanneman realized he could make a bigger impact writing in a documentary-like way about killers and crimes, Jeff Walker saw that he could write gorier lyrics with fancy medical words, 'cause he was doing the same thing movies do - and this is where the psychology of it comes in:
They use technical words that a lot of people don't understand because we're scared of what's unknown, but also in a context in which we know that it's something we definitely don't want to be part of, that is painful, repulsive, unthinkable as part of our actual realities. And that makes it scarier, since not only we don't want it to happen to us, we also don't completely know what it means, we just know it will hurt to death. Second, because it's scientific terms so in our brains, it's realistic, it's existent, so to top the first point, it could happen, it's not just some zombie shit. The realistic aspect could be applied to most things about serial killers and crimes, but when using surgical terms, it's also something we could have no control over, it's hospital stuff... we can just run away from someone chasing us but we all need to go to the hospital sometimes, right? And some people need to be under the scalpel, it's something that happens and that a lot of people are also afraid of. PLUS it sounds gory as hell because that's the area of medicine that works doing all the things those fucked up killers also do: open people up, cut through skin and flesh, all of the blood involved, removing organs, etc.
So it's a mixture of things combined that trigger a lot of fears at the same time, a lot of issues that go against our instinct of survival and that we're hardwired to feel vulnerable to.

Loudwire does not need to be the represented of the metal community. I have seen hate comments said from them on Instagram, sarcastic and snobby remarks to fans on their page, and now this which makes absolutely NO sense at all... We don't need loudwire to represent us.

Other great goregrind bands are Impetigo and Rompeprop. Sadlly they both stopped.

The title should read "death metal" - traditional metal bands don't sing about surgery very often.
