I have a 2008, spent some money on it, Rekluse clutch, motor etc and I race it competitively here in South Africa in the National Offroad series. It is seriously good considering the MX short ratio gearbox etc, and hold its own against all the modern KTM'S etc. You would be hard pressed to find a more competitive machine at a better price range than this....
Dude. I wish I never sold mine. Threw a leg on a friend's a year ago. He rebuilt the entire thing. And honestly. It still feels better than modern bikes. The suspension the chassis. The way it turns. And especially the engine. It feels like it can pull forever. Just endless power.
I have the 08 black edition I got in great condition in 2022. Best dirt bike I've ever rode in my life. I'll never part with it. In fact Ill shell out for a second one if I cross paths.
@@samzimmerman6271 awesome find. Mine had 31 hours, so not brand new but still very fresh. The 07-08 is truly a historic bike in world of motocross. Not only was it the first bike to win every single shootout In every magazine, but it's also the first from what I can find to come black from the factory with black powder coated rims which is still trend now. These bike are just awesome
I have a 2007 crf450r with only 10 rides on it. Bought it brand new from the factory. Is it worth putting the money into it for woods or gncc or should I sell it and get a ktm 300exc
I love the whe story 05 08 the 450r made most horsepower in 07 they introduced the 5mm tilted head on it and in 08 was the first crf450r with a stock stabilizer right behind the number plate the 08 is the most wanted honda by enthusiasts especially when you have a title like a di for mine super epic bike I had the 07 which made almost 56hp absolutely insane and so ahead of there time homda on the hp table even now the 2021 makes 3 hp less
Well, last time I raced my 06 CRF450 in the A stock class I got the holeshot every Moto. (3 Moto's). Against all the new bikes. From the factory 2006 CRF450 comes with 55 horses and 35ft/lbs of torque
Can anyone that has a lot of experience on the 05-07 era CRF450R compared to the later models, explain something. Some people say that the newer bikes are “much” lighter and they go back and forth between wet vs dry wt and claimed vs actual wts. It’s so confusing because in 2005 and 06 Honda used dry wt and they are something like 218 and 217 lbs. then they switched over to wet wt and the specs went up to around 236 or something in that neighborhood. Then people with the newer FI bikes are saying that those 236-238 wts were “dry weight” and the newer bikes of similar wts are actually wet weight. I understand the newer ones feel lighter (they always evolve and improve handling) but feeling lighter and actual weight on a scale is different. Any ideas? It’s also interesting to hear how good the suspension was from so many people and then other people on the internet say how crappy the suspension was, and how it didn’t turn well, etc. (I’m more inclined to believe that the suspension was pretty good, once it was dialed in to your weight, 22mm triple clamps added and getting rid of the horrible stock front tire that loved to wash out).
I owned an 05, which is the same frame and suspension as the 08. I loved the way my 05 cornered; the suspension soaked up everything even when I would case the big double at my local track. In late 2013, I bought a brand new 2014 crf450, and to be honest, it felt heavier throwing it up on the stand but lighter when riding it. My 14 is really easy to lay over in the corners, but the suspension (mainly the forks) feels harsh compared to my old 05. The motor on my 14 feels smoother and has much snappier throttle response but doesn't pull as hard at 9000rpm+ but the bottom end to mid range is super responsive. The 05 motor pulled hard from bottom to top, but it's a much more brutal power and harder to manage.
The 05 to 08 is lighter than the new bikes. No battery or electric start for one. These years are all awesome. I have a factory edition that was 10k in 07 and it feels better than my new bikes for sure. And it barks! Way more snap than fuel injection.
how is it $3,000 into it when rebuilding the engine is about 17 to $2,000 dollars? Then the fmf pipe is about 800. theres your 3000 pretty much without all the other stuff?
oh and then the suspension revalve and set up is about another 800 dollars. I have and o7 which is practically the same bike except the steering dampener. And would love to freshen it up but would like to know how this is possible.
Wyatt Fiske Don't know where they're made, but if you google wiseco crank failures there's plenty to read. i currently run a hot rods crank in my race bike and ride it hard and don't have a complaint
Great video, excellent bike I have the same, even better than this one. See my channel. Other than this, has someone else noticed the paper behind the seat, for the presenter to read all fancy names and upgrades!
Still the Gold standard. But, 3K in this project bike. The new exhaust system alone was 900$ I'm 'assuming' he did all the wrenching by himself? NOT. Awesome bike. Thanks for reminding me to hold on to my own sweet '08. Bruuppp!
An 05-08 CRF450R is closer to a modern 450 in performance than a yzf400 is to an 05-08 CRF450R. Should have been riding 2t back then, the 400 was a fat pig!
I love how the interviewee is holding the microphone instead of the interviewer 😂😂

I just came across and acquired a mint low hour Limited. Still has original 2008 dated Dunlop tires on it. Supposedly they only did 500 of these?

I would probably give the bike to me.

No way did he get all of that stuff for 3000 dollars unless he was getting free stuff

He does the suspension
My friends dad got that bike from racer x

you guys should start using some quality parts instead of using hotrods which I've heard alot of horror stories about!
Hotrods are awful..
Wyatt Fiske not as bad as a wiseco
Where are weiseco made? I know hot rods has been known to make parts in cheap countries

what are some better parts an brands to use ?
Hot rods isnt bad. But OEM only way to go really.
