Why isn’t this getting the recognition it deserves. This deserves to be promoted and be top of the charts. Bon Jovi never fails to disappoint, their songs are truthful and real. God bless this band and their songwriting creativity. My favourite hand of all time. 🙌🏻
This project is not about recognition of a song, singer, songwriter or band. It's not about charts and awards ... you see, it's about humility and recognizing the reality that our service men/women - our heroes live with every single day, although, some too tragically cannot. It's about sacrifice, honor, struggle, feeling in the shadows, out of place, having no purpose and facing the demons that life on the battle field has left in the mind of once brave, bold, strong men and women who now struggle with simple living. This is a project, a gift of hope, strength, support and compassion to help erase those demons and help these warriors find their purpose and next calling. We are all of the same creator, there is a oneness in the whole universe, when one suffers we all suffer to some degree. Let the peace, love and joy we each feel infect those who are struggling and give them hope ... that's what this project is about!
That's one of the most patriotic and compassionate songs that I have ever heard dedicated to our service men and women. Thank you for employing such feeling and sympathy for those who've served our Country.
@@jonbonjovi8500 Dear Mr. Bon Jovi: Thanks for asking. I am hoping to get my health together so that I go back to school & work. I have to get a lot of surgery. I am currently looking to get a home down here in FL but am homeless with my working son. I used to live up in NJ so it has taken time for us to put down new roots. I always liked that song about, "Who says, You Can't Go Home!" I can't anymore. It is gone, but I hope that we can get a new one. Thank you for the great songs that you sing and write that are so meaningful to us. May God bless you and yours!

A close friend and neighbor became one of the 22 a few days ago. His funeral is today and can honestly say I lost it after watching this. Thank you for putting this out there for us service members. Most will never know what it takes for us to do what we have done. The same goes for not knowing what we gave and the pain that is felt afterward.
Masterpiece! For all great people who are suffering and battling through life and everyday reality! You were broken, but you are strong and you can do it! ❤
Oh my gosh! This….this pulled this MoMma’s heart strings. I was and still am so proud of my USMC, Cpl Joshua Morrison. Thank you Jon for telling our service men and women’s story. My Josh sacrificed a lot during his time in the Marines and he saw a lot of ugly things that still to this day haunt him. There were many holidays that his seat remained empty at our table, but my heart was full of pride for him. Yet it also ached for him to come home safe. I saw the pain in his face each time he got the news that one of his buddies took their life and each time he’d see the worry on my face wondering if he would be next. Each time he’d hug me and say “Mom…I’m okay I promise I’m not going any where, I live to honor him or her.” He, like his cousins, uncles, and Grandfathers all proudly served this country. They like all those who have and are serving are the true legacy holders for this country. Again thank you for putting their story into this song.
My father fought in the Vietnam War. He was wounded and missing in action . It's a true blessing that me and my sibling are here . I'm very proud of my father.
My nan was one of the first four Aussie nurses to be shipped out to the Vietnam war. They called themselves the Fab 4. She also beat cancer. She’s one badass old woman, her names Margaret Hopcraft. Google her, please. I want more people to acknowledge how awesome she is.
I know this is an older song but as a long time Bon Jovi fan this song really hits close to home. As a wife of a 22 year military veteran and now a mother of a Navy Sailor this song resonates with me. Thank you for recognizing our military heroes 💕
This Marine wife thanks you for such an amazing song. My husband has buried so many fellow Marines to suicide and he said goodbye to many in Afghanistan. He has never been the same since he came home, but I'm always right here when he wakes from a nightmare or can't cope with the day. Old Bon Jovi songs always help get his mind off things ☺️
Thank you for your husband's service to our country! It can't be easy on what you went through with your husband's service. Just take one day at a time. You & your husband will get through it with God's,s strength! Just letting you know people are praying for you!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Just saying a hugh thank you to your husband for his service and all the men and women that serve to keep us safe god bless you prayers for your husband with you by his side he will get through this with love from the uk xx
I hope things get better for you and with your strength and love will heal him. All the suffering and slaughter and all for oil and greed and justified on a Satanic lie!. They have already begun the ground work for war on Iran and yet more young men and women will be sent to die for more Oil and greed and let's not forget the millions of innocent civilians murdered American and Brittish bombs.
As a combat veteran watching this brought back a lot of memories good and bad. This song really touched my soul. It's 4:14 am and I just can't sleep. I can only hope that that every Veteran out there gets the help they need and always know that you will always have a brother in me. I don't care what sex you are and I definitely don't care what color you are. We all bleed red and I love my country and HELL YES!!! I'd do it all over again. Thank you so much Jon for writing what I think is your best masterpiece yet. Thank you so much!!!
He writes songs from the heart.. As he aged his lyrics transformed from love songs to meaningful ones... A more serious approach nowadays.... Just as his age... A legend
I'm not an American, never held a weapon and served my country, but this song, these words almost bring me to tears as I put myself in the shoes of those who served their country, the shoes I will never fit.
I was born to be of service Camp Lejeune just felt like home I had honor, I found purpose Sir, yes, sir, that's what I know They sent us to a place I'd never heard of weeks before When you're 19 it ain't hard to sleep In the desert on God's floor Close your eyes, stop counting sheep You ain't in boot camp anymore We were taught to shoot our rifles Men and women side by side Thought we'd be met as liberators In a thousand-year-old fight I got this painful ringing in my ear From an IED last night But no lead-lined Humvee war machine Could save my sergeant's life Three more soldiers, six civilians Need these words to come out right God of mercy, God of light Save your children from this life Hear these words, this humble plea For I have seen the suffering And with this prayer I'm hoping That we can be unbroken It's eighteen months now I've been stateside With this medal on my chest But there are things I can't remember And there are things I won't forget I lie awake at night With dreams the devil shouldn't see I want to scream but I can't breathe And, Christ, I'm sweating through these sheets Where's my brothers? Where's my country? Where's my how-things-used-to-be God of mercy, God of light Save your children from this life Hear these words, this humble plea For I have seen the suffering And with this prayer I'm hoping That we can be unbroken My service dog's done more for me Than the medication would There ain't no angel that's coming to save me But even if they could Today twenty-two will die from suicide Just like yesterday, they're gone I live my life for each tomorrow So their memories will live on Once we were boys and we were strangers Now we're brothers and we're men Someday you'll ask me "Was it worth it To be of service in the end?" Well, the blessing and the curse is Yeah, I'd do it all again
i cant see anything negative in this song the words the melody and the meaning..this song deserve fame for our brothers who sacrificing all for our safety..god bless you all brothers..god bless jon...
As a Veteran I have to say Thank You to Jon for this song. And to those who disliked the video, that's why we fought to give you the freedom to speak your mind and God still loves you and I do too.
As i person who is thankful for his freedom and loves this country he lives in i say and salute you and the rest of the men and women out there. God bless you sir
Thank you so much for your service to our country and in the name of Freedom throughout the world!....Much love coming your way...My Dad was a POW for 14 months in German prison camps during WWII....He was a bombardier on a B17 shot down returning from the big raid over Berlin....GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY!....
This song was very well done! As a combat vet with PTSD from my time in the sandbox, I appreciate civilians that try to understand our struggles. Thank you Jon!
@@metramaks It's a loss to the world. I just hope it's not something more serious. He's been a lifelong smoker. He always did his vocal warmups and stuff. I wonder if he tried to overcompensate for Richie's decision to stop coming to work? Someone had to fill that void for a while. If so, rest it, not tour, if nodes are on his vocal cords and can be safely removed, he should do it. But, I am more worried about the smoking. Weird that Mick Jagger's voice is still great. Steven Tyler's voice, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, but Jon's is noticeably different and that's just not fair. I remember when the guys were bullshitting each other and it was about wives. Jon said I couldn't cheat on Dorothea if I wanted to, she'd beat me to death. She is/was a karate teacher. I grew up with him. I'm almost 55.
@@metramaks I have always loved Bon Jovi but he sounds so nasally now and watching him sing he looks like he's in pain. It's very sad. I wonder if Richie left because of the way Jon sounds now ....?
I am watching this video on Memorial Weekend. I have tears and touched by this song. This talks about things our service members deal with when they come home. Thank you Jon for your wonderful song.
I always say that about him. From day 1, he'll always be the best story teller. "Artists" these days write a few lyrics and a chorus - repeat. JBJ tells a whole story through every song, I have an entire movie playing out in my head during RIght Side of Wrong. Fantastic.
This song really got to me. Not everyone realizes how hard it is to serve your country or how hard it is for the families of the people who served. My father served in the navy and just retired a year ago and I remember all the hard times when my dad was deployed. I’m proud of my dad and all him hard work. Love for all the people who is serving our country ❤️❤️
@mike derocco Are you serious? Some jobs/careers/vocations are more difficult than others, and they can even take a toll on those around the ones doing them. Those who do these jobs know it, and they make an effort to do their best, with all the hardships and challenges involved. Saying your job is difficult doesn't mean you don't want to do it; but those who do deserve appreciation.
This is the Closest and most accurate explanation of how I feel every day. I'd say this song resonates in my heart for the rest of my life. This man could legitimately save A Warrior's life. I've never cried so hard in my life from a song. Semper Fidelis Brothers AND Sisters. Im sorry I didn't include our women in my original comment Ooohrahhh
I met a man at YALE doing a study about PTSD. He was so nice and we talked a little about it (while he was waiting). It turns out I understood a bit more than he expected and then he found out I worked in 2 WTC on 9/11. He and I teared up a little on the connection/the talk. You can see it in the eyes some of the pain and stress. Well, he was a wonderful, strong person. When I asked him if he had any regrets and told him how much I personally I did truly appreciate those who are doing the job out there, he told me, "Well yes, I wish my Mom would just have let me go instead of insisting on my going to college first." Amazing! Wow. #Dedicated.
I didn't serve but know many that have. I was also brought to tears listening to this. Please know that even though I didn't fight beside you myself and many others pray for you and your fellow comrades, none of you are ever alone.
Thru the years this band has brought meaning to their songs. This one has left me in tears. Jon and all of the band, you have shown your strength and compassion time and time again. I have never been more proud to be a dedicated fan and say I will forever be with you and enjoy your music. Can't wait to hear the album and see you all again.
Better late than never. Thank you Bon Jovi for thinking of Us. Don't forget about us. I was a Soldier who went to Iraq as well. My Mom is a big fan of you. You've helped me get through some rough times with your music. Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Keep on Rocking in the Free World. 🇺🇸🎸🎶🎤 Those words go straight to the Heart. Yeah where is the world that we knew before we left? 😔
Kim Whitney thank you for your service. As per your question as to where the world we once knew went, I’m pretty sure my brother is still asking himself that same question. He lost his battle with PTSD back in 2015. It hurts like hell to know he’s not with us anymore. But at the same time I know he’d do it all over again.
@@mcrchickenluvr I'm sorry for your loss. The reality of war is too much for people who may not understand except those families who have family in the military. My heart goes out to you and your loved ones. No one ever talked about those things before until they started see the reactions when we came back. It was an Honor to Serve and always will be. Thank you for the reply. I wasn't expecting anyone to do that. May We Never Forget those We've lost. Their memory will Live Forever. 🕯🙏
I may have been born in the 90s but I think that the music is so much better form the 80s. I am a big fan of bonjovi. Love this one. But as long as I keep living on a prayer I will be ok lol
Walk a line or dig a rifle pit; serve on a line do a tour stand watch,If you do not know these terms or lost a close friend from injuries or combat ..yea this will bore you. But suck it up butter cup..Someone did for you...So now say thank you and just walk away for they did with out any expectations of thanks they did for Honor and country
This song, it deals with PTSD like no other. For all the servicemen and servicewoman of every country ... Whatever the politics, we are all the same. Jon is right ... From an Irishman
What a talent you are. What a great song for our soldiers. First time I've heard it you Are terrific wish I could shake your hand and give you a hug from soldiers everywhere.
I was 14 years old in the fall of 1972 when my father came home from his third and final tour in Vietnam. It was then I noticed that something had changed in him, but I wasn't quite sure what it was. I remember that fall being colder than years past, but it was what happened that fall that I would never forget. It was colder that night than it had been in the previous nights and I had gotten out of bed to put my pillow next to the wall heater to get it warm to take back to bed to warm myself. The house was dark as I stood there in the hall, I could hear someone crying ever so faintly, at first I thought I was just half asleep. I could hear it was coming from our living room so I slowly walked towards the sound...there behind his favorite chair curled up in a ball was my father crying like a child that had just been punished. I slowly walked backwards to my room and to my bed where I cried myself to sleep, never understanding at 14 years old why he was there and what he was crying about. I never brought it up to him, but I finally realized something had broken him and whatever it was it hurt him deeply and I vowed never speak to anyone about what I saw that night. As I grew into adulthood and some of the details of what he saw during the years he served in the war came out, I finally understood and realized what I witnessed that night. Back then the military and the civilian doctors didn't recognize it, they didn't have a name for it and they had no diagnosis of what it was. As the years passed, he settled back into a different normality in his life, he aged quickly and became ill with various health conditions. You see the men and women who served their country were expected to leave the war back in Vietnam and come home without repercussions and go on with their lives as though nothing had changed. Many of them as they returned had a difficult time fitting back into society...some lost their friends and families because they felt like they no longer fit in somehow, some came back home missing limbs and had to adjust to living a different life unlike the one they once knew, some had seen more than they could have fathomed and it affected them mentally, some could not bare what they had seen and gone through, the deaths and losses of their fellow brothers and sisters beside them was hard to comprehend, some took their own lives by suicide leaving their families devastated and wondering what happened because they hid their pain so well. Thousands of brave men and women have lost their lives on foreign soil and thousands more loose their lives every day in America from the affects of fighting for our freedom. And now after all these years we finally have a name for "it" they call it PTSD. (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Jon's right, if you ask anyone of them they'll say...yeah, I'd do it all again!! Prayers that someday they will all be unbroken!! God Bless you all!! Thank you for your service!! And thank you Jon for putting it into words. ❤️💋🙏🏼 #UNBROKEN
I lost my cousin in Vietnam, he was bringing in his fellow soldiers who had been wounded, he brought 2 in, and while bringing back his 3rd buddy he was shot. He had 2 young sons he never got to know, his youngest he never got to meet. I was just 8 then but we were very close, he being an only child he became my best friend. I was told by doctors I would never be able to have children, but a miracle happened, I had a beautiful healthy son, my one and only. I named him after my cousin I so loved. My son is very proud to share his name, Evan. Thank you so much for sharing your memories. 💜
I am young and not even a teen but I still understand what you meant but I also have a funny story my uncle he was in the Mexican army and part of the reason he retired was because he was shot in the foot lol but still not funny 🤐
Sgili I’m very sorry about what happens but that’s cool I honestly wish I had someone in my family from the Vietnam war I mean my grandpa was in the Air Force during the Cold War and he had to deal with seeing so many of his BEST friends BLOW UP in front of him not knowing there last words or thoughts which is sad btw my grandpa was 1 of the people selected for the B-52 bomber which is also cool :)
My grandfather was 6 by the end of WW2, but I don't doubt that he had seen things he never talked about. Don't know what those things could be, if they were at all, because if they were he never talked about them. But having been a child I can only imagine that those things would have been traumatic (still no idea what they could be, if they were at all).
I just saw this video for the first time. This is a perfect song for my best friend, Pete. He is 95 years old and served in WW2. He is a wonderful man that is filled with HONOR. I know I owe my freedom to him, and to others that have served. THANK YOU.
Jon Bon Jovi I love that song it’s so beautiful. I never served in the military but I do know people that have. I’m so glad you’re helping the people who have served for our beautiful country. God Bless You Jon!!
I don’t write comments on anything but, after here’s this just now made me tear up and brought back all my deployments I’ve done. Definitely would do it all again and this has to be one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time.
With tears in my eyes I must say this is an absolute beautiful tribute to our soldiers those that have came back and those that haven't. With utmost respect I thank each and every veteran and family who gave their sons, daughters husbands and wives. I love this country and I love the freedom that I have because of you all. Thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart. God bless you all.
Salute to all of all person in uniform who always protect and serve the nation! So proud of you. My dad was a former Philippine Navy and im so honoured to be his child!

Que canción tan hermosa! Para ellos que lo dan todo, sin recibir nada a cambio y para aquellos, que no tienen quien, grite por ellos! Gracias bon Jovi por esta canción tan hermosa y triste a la vez...
His voice changed a lot and he can't do a lot of ranges as compared younger but he adapts to a suitable style. It happens; years of rocking a million faces :)
This is a very powerful song. Thank you, Bon Jovi, for creating a song about our service mem, and women. It's about time someone honored their sacrifices.
Thank you Bon Jovi for writing and communicating the thoughts and feelings of so many Soldiers. I too saw so much suffering not just with those we hoped to liberate, but with my Soldiers and their Families. As a previous Company Commander I was lucky that none of my Soldiers got killed, but the Battalion and Brigade was not so. I remember speaking with other Company Commanders on how they needed to communicate to the Family that their father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, gave his/her life for this great country of ours. My darkest memory was when Soldiers got killed on a mission right before Christmas. That day still haunts me as Christmas is coming upon us again. I can hear the Soldiers mothers crying and asking “why!!!” her daughter/son died, thru the story my friend as he recounted what happened days after. When we went on missions, I asked God why do we have to endure so much suffering, please let me be the one that’s is sacrificed today, not that young Soldier. Now after much therapy, I agree “ I live my life for each tomorrow, so their memories will live on”.
Heute das zum erstenmal gehört,was für ein Song, schade das die besten im Orchester des Himmels gebraucht werden und uns normal Sterblichen weitere geniale Songs dadurch verwehrt sind, einfach Topp

@River Alisha my deepest sympathies for what you have experienced, I'm from the Uk but I always respect those in uniform both here and abroad, I have friends who have gone through similar things as well as family, it's nice to see that so many people realize now that they need to do more to support all those who serve, they are here for us and we should be there for them in times of need #Unbroken
Wow amazing song so well written thank you for writing this song for the veteran, soldiers, and the amazing service dogs you are an amazing person and singer 😘😘♥️🌹
You're right when you say the lyrics are so deep but I'm afraid the word "hero" is thrown around way too much. Even the soldiers themselves will state they are not hero's but just doing their job. It takes heroic actions to label someone with that title. I understand your meaning but feel the word hero is losing its meaning due to the amount of times it's used. Try something like Courageous or similar. Beautiful song anyway.
Brilliant song! I work for an organisation in Australia that support returning veterans! I see and hear the challenges they face - this song relates to them. Bless the veterans l! Thanks JB for this song!
Only a skilled writer like Bon Jovi can write a song that can both be a worship song and a tribute to our fallen heroes and veterans.

I don't care what sex you are and I definitely don't care what color you are. We all bleed red and I love my country and HELL YES!!! I'd do it all over again. A legend
I'm not an American, never held a weapon and served my country, but this song, these words almost bring me to tears as I put myself in the shoes of those who served their country, the shoes I will never fit.
I was born to be of service
Camp Lejeune just felt like home
I had honor, I found purpose
Sir, yes, sir, that's what I know
They sent us to a place
I'd never heard of weeks before
When you're 19 it ain't hard to sleep
In the desert on God's floor
Close your eyes, stop counting sheep
You ain't in boot camp anymore
We were taught to shoot our rifles
Men and women side by side
Thought we'd be met as liberators
In a thousand-year-old fight
I got this painful ringing in my ear
From an IED last night
But no lead-lined Humvee war machine
Could save my sergeant's life
Three more soldiers, six civilians
Need these words to come out right
God of mercy, God of light
Save your children from this life
Hear these words, this humble plea
For I have seen the suffering
And with this prayer I'm hoping
That we can be unbroken
It's eighteen months now I've been stateside
With this medal on my chest
But there are things I can't remember
And there are things I won't forget
I lie awake at night
With dreams the devil shouldn't see
I want to scream but I can't breathe
And, Christ, I'm sweating through these sheets
Where's my brothers? Where's my country?
Where's my how-things-used-to-be
God of mercy, God of light
Save your children from this life
Hear these words, this humble plea
For I have seen the suffering
And with this prayer I'm hoping
That we can be unbroken
My service dog's done more for me
Than the medication would
There ain't no angel that's coming to save me
But even if they could
Today twenty-two will die from suicide
Just like yesterday, they're gone
I live my life for each tomorrow
So their memories will live on
Once we were boys and we were strangers
Now we're brothers and we're men
Someday you'll ask me "Was it worth it
To be of service in the end?"
Well, the blessing and the curse is
Yeah, I'd do it all again
Thank you so much for the lyrics. ♡

he's 57 years old and still looking good. age like wine
Oh hell yeah!! Aging gracefully!
But he lost his voice and it's sad.

Thank you for allowing your father and family to serve this country for some many years. From one veteran to another veteran...job well done #Salute

Ooh rah and Semper Fi, brother.

Mais uma obra prima, como tudo que Jon Bon Jovi faz.
(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Jon's right, if you ask anyone of them they'll say...yeah, I'd do it all again!!
It is also called survivor guilt, "why didn't I die like the other" been there 66-67 still dealing with it.
I just saw this video for the first time. This is a perfect song for my best friend, Pete. He is 95 years old and served in WW2. He is a wonderful man that is filled with HONOR. I know I owe my freedom to him, and to others that have served. THANK YOU.

Now after much therapy, I agree “ I live my life for each tomorrow, so their memories will live on”.

the lyrics are so deep!
They are heroes wherever they are!!!!
