The Edifiers are awesome. I liked them so much I kept them instead of giving them to my son for Christmas. I gave him my Elacs , put these in my kitchen and bought the TUKs for my music room.

I run these on my desk on either side of my 42" monitor, and lemme tell ya boyo, these speakers are super. I love them. As near-field speakers, these are perfect. Great sound and dirt cheap.
Got those Edifiers few months ago and I am very happy with them. But I didn't have much experience with many other speakers to compare to, so thanks for validating my choice! Feels good man!

Thank you for the review. I was in the market for decent PC speakers. I quickly noticed anything under $150 was trash. Sound was lacking, looks, RGB over function. So I decided to put together a modest shelf studio speaker and amp kit for my desk. I realized I wanted bluetooth capability as well, no big deal, I can get a blue tooth amp. Then the cables necessary to run the system and it came up to about $250, not bad. A little more then I wanted to spend but ok. Then I seen this set and was thinking to myself, why spend all that money on additional hardware when I get everything I am looking for in the R1700's. Plug and play no wires but the power cord and I still have great sound aaaand I put $100 back in my pocket. This is what I think good desk top PC speakers look like.

@@CinemaDemocratica Well I don't have a direct comparison but esp. for the price I paid I'm really happy with it. The functionality is great, like the subwoofer out giving the possibility to upgrade this pair even beyond a S351DB configuration. I tested the subwoofer out with my old "broken" 2.1-System and the sub-out really just lets low frequency through.

Just got the 1700BTS, same amazing sounding unit, but improved in every way. Having Sub out was the selling point for me, paired with a cheap Polk PSW100... they are such a treat for my lower

I believe edifier does Dsp correction on most of their speaker designs because it saves time in r&d and they just use drivers that are close enough and correct what’s lacking with dsp
I got an Edifier R1850DB for the holidays and my sister came by, tested and listened to ATTENTION by Joji and I thought the speaker couldn't handle the bass because the song is heavily distorted. I did my research and found out the song is actually intended to be distorted to begin with. God she scared me I thought I made a bad buy.
What do you think of the speakers ?
@@rpgfeatures793 It's really great! The only thing I don't like is the small remote. You need the remote to switch to Aux/jack/optical/bluetooth. If you lose the remote or break it, you'll be stuck with whatever mode you had it set on.

The 1700bt is bi amp , the tweeter has heatsink on the back , neo driver tweeter. the tweeter does both mids and highs .

These Edifiers have been in my wish list since over a year ago when you released this video, and today they finally became my first Zeos-reviewed purchase! They replaced my $20 Logitech computer speakers and HAH! Just, holy fuck I can't believe I used those things for ten years.
Edifiers are probably slightly larger than your old speakers too 😉

@@DaxRipley I tried using Vanatoo T1s in my home office and it was just a little too big and too loud to be enjoyed properly. Went with the smaller T0s. I imagine the Edifiers are similar. But they look like great speakers.
I have the Edifier R1850DB, which is the next step in the line, same drivers but a bit more wattage along with a optical input/subwoofer output. I must say, as a near field listener i find that i turn the bass down on them. Edifier really does push some insane bass to these things out of the box, i bet they wont go too terribly loud without distortion but damn.
I picked these up with no cable at goodwill for 20 bucks. Those edifer are amazing. I didn’t even know what I had but I knew they sounded good as heck.
I bought the Edifier 1280 DB's to replace the speakers on my Sony TV and to stream music. For the cost, they are unreal.
Just bought the R1850DB for EUR 99 on sale because of your review. They are 100% identical to the R1700BT from what i have seen. BUT they add optical in and a subwoofer out. If you can get them and pair them with a sub this is probably going to be reaaaaaaaally compelling price-performance-wise, especially because of the digital in for easy sound bar crushing.

I am about to buy the Edifier R1855db here in Argentina, I think it is almost equal to the 1700, with 70w of total output, the only bad thing is that they come in black boxes, it is very nice, but I like them better in wood color .. greetings.
I just took delivery of a pair of these edifier speakers last week. I have only really seem people putting them on a desk (apart from this channel) but I've put them on some higher stands and tilted them a little forward using some foam. I turn down the bass on the speaker and then use a bit of EQ on mine to suit my music taste. On some music which is well recorded and not too complicated you can shut your eyes and swear that the speakers are bigger than what they are. Bargain speakers !

So, I need speakers for my new desktop in my office. R1280T is a bit cheaper. How do they compare to the R1700BT? I don't need bluetooth.
These are exceptional value for the money. In my small apartment they work perfectly. I have all my Music on my LG G8 Mobile phone, I use the PlayerPro App and play them via Bluetooth. All FLAC files I might add and the sound really is quite amazing when considering the price. Yes they do distort if pushed too hard and bass boom is a problem but you can manage that in EQ settings on the PlayerPro App. All in all a great buy. I've had these for 18 months and very satisfied although Edifier S3000 Pro's are on the wish list and I will probably upgrade to these later this year. Not sure my neighbours will approve but...
These are 150 dollars on Amazon. They get made in China and if you buy them on the edifier taobao, they only cost 529 RMB (75 dollars) they are excually more cheaper. Such an amazing sound for a low cost pair of speakers. Sadly we pay higher prices for import...
Even the edifier S350DB is only 1200 RMB so around 170 US dollars compare to it's 300 dollar if you buy it on Amazon. They are so low cost and it just blow your mind for what it can do.

Used to have the edifier 1700bts. Great pair of speakers with a good feature set. Ended up selling them off to my friend who really liked them when I got an amp and a pair of Aaron SS120s (localky made speakers from a small, now defunct company).
Does the 1700bt benefit from a dac? or it converts the rca back to digital for dsp?

Okay, now this is interesting: At about 15:21 you say, "Do they need a sub? Yes. Every speaker needs a sub." And yet (a) you seem to prefer these to the S350DB system from the same company (correct?) and, you didn't demo the R1850DB, which is a slight step up from these, but with the notable addition of a subwoofer output. Any thoughts?

@@gerardocarlos7351 I bought the 1850s to go with a sub I already have, and I'm happy. The upper midrange on Edifier speakers always seems a little bit sizźly to me, so I had to play a little with equalizing, but now that everything is set up the way I like it, I barely ever think about them. My guess is that the room characteristics will make as much difference as anything.
Originally, I was looking for reviews to figure out what would be the best nearfield speakers for me. Now, though I have not found out the answer yet, I kind of fall in love with your reviews. SO COOL!
They’re only $143 au ($95us) at the moment in Australia from the Edifier online shop. Even the S3000pro, which I own, are $640 au ($428 us) there. True audio bargains

Zeos finally reviewed the 1700BT! I love using em.
In Australia these Edifier R1700BT regularly drop to ~$120, which is like $70 to $80 USD depending on how our dollar is doing. We get free delivery on Amazon Prime from the US if we spend more than $50, so maybe people in the US can buy from Australian Amazon when they drop on special? Pretty much cost almost half the price compared to Amazon US.

There are a few audio brands that are regularly cheaper in Australia than the US. Rode is another. They're not made here but they're an Australian company and I think they want them affordable here. JBL is often cheaper here too, don't know why. With low priced Chinese stuff sometimes the cost difference comes down to the shipping to Australia vs the US though it usually works out roughly the same, Australian retailers just tend to do heavy discounting on Edifier aometimes. Buy from a computer store for prices lower than the edifier store.

Bought them this week for the gaming/pc room. They are love at first sound!.
They are not the best/accurate speakers. But they sound fun and warm. Vocals are supprising and really good. Insane for the price point. If you are looking for back ground music and pc speakers they are unbeatable at this price point.
To me these are the blon bl03 of speakers!!!!!!

@@brkbtjunkie to be fair depands on the game ofc. but they have a heavy sound to them, awp in cs sounds awsome. cant compair this to the little gaming speakers out there. but footsteps in fps games are ok but not on good headphone lvl.
for al other games then fps games i preffer them above headphones or gaming speaker from a box store.
also got jbl horn studio speakers at home and those sound way more acurate but a bit flat compared to these, for gaming i preffer the little ones.

i bought the edifier 1850db for 160 euro,s , they are the same as the 1700bt soundwise and come with more connecting options like optical and aux. they also have a sub out so when u hook up a sub to them then u have best of both worlds .they only come in a black finish tho. and for the ones that listening to hardstyle music this is the set u need to get the best bassresponse in combination with a sub .
Need a little help sir. Will BT speakers (leaning towards Edifier) work if i'm playing music from my phone to an old receiver using a BT adapter ? I want to add a 2nd set speakers in another area but don't want to go through the hassle of wiring them nor do I want to part ways with my old receiver, 1994 Kenwood still works great! Thoughts?
FYI the Dayton MK402btx do not have a remote, not sure where that remote came from but its not for the Daytons.
Got the R1700BT, thought they were quite nice but expensive. Returned after a week because Edifier sells a similar set (1280T) without Bluetooth for less, slightly smaller tweeter but same size bass driver, same knob layout and inputs and same rough footprint on the desk. Decided to save $70 CAD and switch to the R1280T.
Next morning (this morning), I was back at best buy returning the R1280T and picking the R1700BT back up again, lmao. Not only is the tweeter just infinitely better on the 1700 in every way (volume, extension, clarity, and appearance), but the overall build quality, sound quality, visual appeal and such is just orders of magnitude better. One other big thing - the R1700BT does indeed use a DSP and it makes a huge fucking difference. The R1280T, does NOT have a DSP on-board; the crossover on that is a shitty no-name capacitor on the tweeter and that's about it.
One of the things that the DSP has a massive effect on is that tuning the bass and treble via the dials on the 1280 fucks up the sound really badly because increasing treble or bass causes the whole sound signature to shift and causes the mids to scoop out, it's fucking atrocious and unusable. The 1700 with it's DSP based tuning is much better; as djusting bass and treble only boosts or reduces treble- it doesn't fuck around with the ability to hear details or mess with the tuning.
The R1700BT is just an way better than I'd expect for this size and price (which again, is significantly more than the 1280), whereas the 1280T was exactly what I'd expect for the price and that means disappointment.
They changed the remote, it's much better now. It has on off and buttons are side by side.
I just checked and Amazon still show the old remote, where did you order from?

Are the Dayton audio speakers you reviewed the mk402bt or mk402btx? You say you've had them for 2 years, but I'm unsure if the mk402btx with the better crossover where available at that time.
Also, as far as I'm aware, and at the time of this posting, the Mk402btx doesn't come with a remote.
Hey Zeos, would you recommend the Edifiers for near-field at my PC desk? They seem perfect size, features, and price for my situation. My biggest issue is that I cant necessarily buy most of your recommendations at a good price cause I live in NZ, but the Edifiers are available for a reasonable price here.
I got a pair of Edifier R2000DB (using the fiber connection) for Christmas and I love them......they have the piano black sides instead of wood which sucks but they where 80 dollars cheaper so I'll forgive my parents for that. 😄

I got Edifiers 1700 but BTS version that have dedicated sub out that is not dsp controlled and i just added sub and it is insane how everything sounds.
I just got Edifier 1700BT in december 2019. Loving it ever since, and also I have Edifier 1280DB which is cheaper than 1700BT but have bluetooth and digital input. 1700BT have better mid and treble than 1280DB which sound a little bit muddier. But overall those two really good, cheap, and looks good for desktop and home audio setup.
is a sub really needed? so many reviews say the bass is lacking but i just want to use them to hook up to a crt retro gaming station.

Are the backs of the Edifier's such that they can be wall-mounted angled slightly downwards?
Also, I believe the specs say the "speaker cable" that goes between the speakers is 16 feet long which would be far too much slack/excess hanging down my wall; is there a way to get a cable about 8 to 10 feet long?

Edifier 1700BT apparently has open Bluetooth and anyone can connect to them and play even when it is under operation with cable. I mean thats a pretty big con.

How do they compare to the E25 Luna eslipse?
There's a brand of speakers I fell in love with around 6 or 7 years ago but A. almost no one knows about them, B. they're VERY hard to find in North America. They are called Swan (AKA HiVi). They have so many different models and styles from single driver, tiny speakers to $50,000 floorstanders with like 30 drivers in each speaker.
The particular set I'm interested in is the M60-5.1. The M20-5.1 also looks very interesting as it's less expensive and much more compact. There's also the H4 5.1 but that's too expensive for me personally.
Not sure if your joking or not, but Swan is pretty well known and Z has a bunch of reviews of them

I have a very high goal amount on patreon and ss that basically says I HAVE TO buy a house.
I purchased the Edifier R1900 back in 2014, and upgraded to R2000 in 2015, S2000MKII in 2016, Airpulse A200 in 2017, A100 in 2018 (yes trust me it is a upgrade), and I was more than pleased with all of them. Good products speak for themself. If Edifier release a superior model in the future, just shut up and take my money.

Pedro Gonçalves : Yes. The A200 has a slightly punchier and deeper bass than the A100, but overall the A100 sounds much more refined and much smoother. And put the lower price into consideration, I personally prefer A100 to the A200.
