I think the greatest thing about this voice is that (unlike the other stratospheric coloraturas) se gets LOUDER! I also have to say that this is one of her best ending high-notes. PERFECT and LONG!
I have always been a Mado fanatic since I was 15. I thought I had seen every live performance as well as every recording (especially her remastered Lakme when CDs were new). But I have not seen this. I love finding these wonderful moments on UA-cam. I hope I can find more I have not seen.
Wow, the orchestra does not do her any favors here. Mado Robin is criminally underrated as a singer; people tend to hear her rapid Snow White-esque vibrato and her undeniably unique ability to hit high notes and assume she was a one trick pony, when she actually was a genuine musician. I happen to like coloratura fluff pieces like this, but I’ve also heard her sing Violetta’s arias with a wonderful grasp of the musicality and drama.
what are some of her celebrated notes ... could they be B-flat or Cs *above* regular Coloraturas High Cs??? ...in her lower register, she sounds well, ah *simpy* like a little girl oftentimes, and yes, she gets fuller and louder as she ascends... she was considered freakish in her day. She even had celebrated rifts with conductor Tulio Seraphone at the San Francisco Opera, because her own interpolated notes were always *so* stratospheric! A minor member of the Frech aristocracy, she unfortunately died too young, I believe of cancer or leukemia...
you could replace the Ondes Martenot in the Turangalila Symphony with her voice and no one would know the difference - it's almost the same timbre and she could do the B6 it needs too
I don’t remember who told me this (a music teacher) or have anything to back it up but I was told it was in 1839 when he was at the theater in Josefstadt. Don’t know if it’s true or not as much like you I have found nothing on the internet to corroborate. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Apart from the stratospheric high notes, her coloratura (apart from her picchiettati, natural for a light voice like hers) was always slow and aspirated. No low notes. No words. No trills. One again, apart from the high Fs, Gs and As, don’t understand the fuss. 🤷🏻♂️
I agree with you about the musicality and her agility wasn't very good either, all done in the throat instead of from the diaphragm, but those stratospheric notes! What can one say?!
" Her extraordinary high register, which included a C in altissimo, was of a remarkable freshness and ease and had a *stupendous agility.* Some of her roles were arranged and transposed up especially for her voice! "
Mr. Andredekock, this type of voice is not supported the same way an Average lyric is. Its supported lightly on the breath AND the larynx. Like Hallstein and Sack. The vocal cords are too thin to withstand heavy breath support. They will lose all those sparkling upper notes.
Of course her voice and range were totally unique, I wish she was a better musician, or was surrounded by a better conductor, or orchestra. This is a difficult piece to coordinate, but this is not such a great representation of art. Still, I love her voice. No one has come close to her yet.
phenomenal. You could really feel she pours her heart and soul more than that magnificent range of her. Humble and true primadonna.
I think the greatest thing about this voice is that (unlike the other stratospheric coloraturas) se gets LOUDER! I also have to say that this is one of her best ending high-notes. PERFECT and LONG!
Absolutely Yes, I will love to hear The Great Mado Robin sing in Glory...
Wieso soll sie dort sein ?
Fantastique... Unique....

Rita Streich..
I love her! her voice is amazing

A real singing lession, looking all her face's and throat as mouth mouvements. The singers of today could really learn so much from this viedo clip.
La amo!!! Ella es magnifica!
Al fin un español. Solo english los comentarios 😂
X2
actually mado robin is a title holder of guinness in strathospheric coloratura

Such a sweet lady and she could have been a force had she been trained properly.

Me encantan esos agudos de la Mado 😍😍😍
Petite mes parents adoraient mado robin
Merveilleux...!!!!!
Un vrai ravissement... Merci pour ces vidéos... Unique... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
On the video I have, they say that this evening, she was very sick and she was about not to sing !
This was like listening to a recreation of Tetrazzini...until that soaring finale. Never heard anything to match it.

Isso é impressionante demais! 👏👏👏👏

THERE ARE NO COLORATURAS ON THE OPERATIC STAGE TODAY WHO CAN MATCH THIS. SINGING IS RUBBISH TODAY.
It certainly is.
Her tone is definitely steadier than the sopranos of today.
Wow wow unique
OMG!
me gustó, me gustó...!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know which year this piece was composed? It is IMPOSSIBLE to find that information online :/
MadonnaImperia
It's written on the description : September 1957 :)
liovinc78 That is the date of the recording. I would like to know which year Proch composed this piece :)
