It seems France is going the same path of Brazil regarding higher education, here Lula did the same thing helping the private enterprise build new universities and courses and giving state sponsored fees for students to go to private institutions. Now we have a huge amount of people with a poor quality higher education, and coopted by liberal ideology passed by these universities, and the owners of these private institutions have a HUGE power in politics after all the money they gained and will further push their agenda in the congress using the money that was handed by the state to them.
One of the great outcomes we had in Mexico because of the revolution of 1910 was our largest university becoming Autonomous from the federal government which has managed to avoid those neoliberal tendencies by different governments through out the years.
Yeah we had similiar situation in Poland too when they allowed private universities. A lot of shitty "menagers" and "journalists" suddenly appeared. Fun fact, our previous goverment even made fake university to give their members diplomas so they can sit on state positions xD

For Yugopnik: Not Just Bikes has a video about dem trucs, they used to be marketed to assholes in the 90s but now they're marketed to moms ("safety" because big)
Just to add because I'm sure you know but others might not. Ironically (tragically?) they're actually even less safe because the higher centre of mass means they're more likely to roll and crush you. Terrible vehicles all round.
I will say, I hate the American “big truck” thing. As someone who owns a 96 tacoma, that little thing can do anything I need it to. Wether its working on a farm 100 miles away from the nearest city or driving in town and still being able to fit in a parking space. Nobody “NEEDS” a ford F450 unless you are doing very specific types of work. My truck is pretty damn gas efficient, has never left me stranded, and isnt an eyesore when driving anywhere besides the middle of nowhere. Ive never really had the inkling for a giant vehicle for any other reason than thinking trains are cool.
My father is an architect and civil engineer, and he used to have a Mitsubishi L200 for almost two decades, while doing trips to mountains with heavy building material with no problem. Very gas efficient, very endurable, very comfortable. Never had the need for anything bigger.

Love this guest. Another thing about university that sucks is that you really DO need to go to one to make good money most of the time. This is bullshit. Now because of capitalism going to university is less and less likely to get you a good job and what of the people who just aren't cut out for university? Good jobs and good living conditions should be accessible to everyone, not just people who are talented in a particular field. It's not our fault that we're poor because we didn't go through the right program university or that we didn't go to university/college at all. It's not because we're lazy or stupid. It's because the economy and job market sucks for everyone.
Only part that sucks about not having a truck in Texas is that you can’t see around truck drivers in traffic and they will ride your tail even though there is 2 free lanes to the left.
I had this kid come into my work pretty often a few years ago and he came in full tiktok cowboy cosplay. Had the button up shirt tucked into his wrangler jeans with his big belt buckle and $700 boots. He drove a sparkling clean model year F-150 King Ranch. I don't like to make assumptions about people but when he hands me his license I see his address and I immediately clock where he lives. He lives in Highland Park. For those who don't know, Highland Park is the richest neighborhood in all of Dallas-Fort Worth and at times in the whole state.
i don't get it. why do the bourgeoisie pretend to vaguely "look like" working class people from a long time ago? rich people where i live dress kinda similar to 1900s era farmers, but without all the scars and dirt. i truly don't get it.
Idk why people hate on them though. Sure they are nothing like Mexican tacos, but they are still delicious. Not the first time a country calls their food the same as a different food from another country. It happens all the time. Now, if we hate on french tacos because they are french, i totally understand it.
The real problems with homeschooling are that it's prohibitively expensive for most families, and parents generally lack the education expertise of actual teachers. The socialization problem is way overblown, and as far as conservative religious influence is concerned, if we can imagine a socialist alternative to conservative gun culture then surely we can imagine a socialist alternative in homeschooling. Socialist homeschooling may even prove vitally necessary in the long term.
Socialization problem is not overblown. School is one of the first and most important spaces of social interaction of kids in their youth. Most of their relationships until adulthood are formed there, as well as the social skills needed to survive in society (how to teamwork, how to share with other kids, how to solve conflicts peacfully, how to ask for help...). Cutting all social interaction with kids of their age is very problematic.
This might come in kinda random but would you have Ashley Frawley on? I think she has some interesting stuff to say about how individualism isn't just promoted but also endangered by modern capitalism.
