      The only negative with grand seiko is its resale value. If you sell it after a few years you would be lucky to get half your money back unlike rolex or patek.
      But other than that it's a beautiful watch.

      RED PILL SOCIETY You actually made my point. A watch enthusiast who doesn’t want to own a Grand Seiko will bring up issues with the actual watches, rather than just trashing the name on the dial, and saying Japanese watches are inferior. To be fair, though, there are some GS models like the Peakcock going up in value, just not as many as Rolex. I absolutely love both GS and Rolex, they are my two favorite brands right now.

      Except for people who want an entirely mechanical watch and not a hybrid of a mechanical and an electric watch. I value the proposition, which is almost a marvel of technology (still a step down quartz watches for me), but I just can't love a watch which uses other fields than mechanics (like magnetic fields for the spring drive).
      Besides, I highly respect Seiko for their research of precision and practicality, but there is nothing more than pure rationality in the watch, and I simply doesn't feel anything while looking at a Seiko.

    I've had a Grand Seiko GMT for 5 years now, SBGE005, and the dial is just amazing. While it's not the snowflake version, Seiko have said the dial on my JDM version was even more sophisticated to make than the Snowflake. My Grand Seiko is my daily wearer, and I never get sick of the creamy sweeping of the second hand nor the near-perfect accuracy. It's so accurate that I had to measure it in years, not days. COSC becomes a laughing matter. My GMT was +15 seconds over the course of one year, so +1.25 seconds a month. I still can't get over it. My Rolex now only gets weekend wrist time.

    • @sunflash101
      @sunflash101 4 роки тому +4

      I have the updated version - SBGE2005 actually and that's what I read online as well - the champagne dial is more complicated to make than the Snowflake. I do take that with a grain of salt as I don't see how it could with the lack of repeating patterns in the snowflake...but this doesn't make me love my GS GMT any less!

      @lolroflkartoffel123 i bought it for the details whats wrong with that...? Those that know what it is appreciate it and those that dont well.....who cares lol. I wouldnt really consider this a luxury item. You get alot of bang for buck with this watch. Id say for it to be a luxury item there has to be an atificially boosted price tag. Like a lamborghini huracan. We all know its an audi r8 just rebadged. The quality and performance has peaked at $200k but they sell the car for over 300k. If you get what i mean. This is just my idea of a luxury item btw. To someone else a chair can be a luxury haha. Its all relative but i think best way to define luxury item would be bang for buck value.

    Fantastic review and stunning macro footages. The one reason I'd take this over a Rolex or any other high end watch brand is the fact that the technology and craftsmanship put into GS watches simply cannot be replicated by even the best of replica watchmakers. With reps of daytona, subs, royal oaks etc..being very near identical (even down to the weight level) as their genuine counterpart, it always makes me question the authenticity of these watches when I see someone wearing it on the streets. I am also certain it would be the same vice versa.

    People complain about the resale value on Grand Seiko watches, and of course there are right. The watches Undisputedly are as good as any ie Rolex, Omega any high profile watch at the relative price range . If you expect a good resale price don’t buy a Grand Seiko.,these watches are for people who are not to concerned about the resale value. When you consider the labour cost in Japan are lower than in Switzerland, knowing the money has been spent on the watch not on hype and over advertising.

      @Tom The Fish Oh yes, absolutely. Saw the SBGH 269 earlier this week, actually. It's an amazing piece of artwork, both the dial and the caseback. For me, it would be a bit too seasonal and tough to wear year-round where I live in the Southwestern US. If I lived in a more seasonal place, it could be a runner.

      @@fesham5811 haha, or like i8. Anyway, the most expensive and the most amazing thing of mechanical watch is the way how they keep accuracy. Different brands has their own complicated and sophisticated mehanical solutions or even tourbillons. Seiko use quartz cristal to keep accuracy like any quartz caliber. The difference is that pure quartz watch use battery power and springdrive use spring to generate power for the wheel with magnets. It's like quartz watch with "old fashioned" energy supply system 😅.
      But the face of the watch is amazing, 100% true peace of art
