  • AMAZING!!!!...Our first COLD BORE IMPACT of 1Mile Milk Jug Challenge and probably the most amazing performance of the Milk Jug Challenge to date!!!
    Congrats to Michael Langston on destroying the 1 mile Milk Jug Challenge with his custom switch barrel 7 SAUM!!! Michael is a huge help and support to LRSU. He has attending nearly every single event we've held and has been a volunteer RO for years. He's one of the first there and last to leave even providing his own targets for us to use to make the event possible. This event was a complimentary event put on as a thank you to Michael and our many volunteer RO's that make our events possible. Thanks guys!

    Beyond impressive. Enjoyed the first few seconds showing the path to target. The distance is inconceivable. I doubt I'd be able to focus on something so small even to get a general directional aim. I've tried to spot stars in my telescope viewfinder and it's hit or miss. Lots of back and forth to try to point aim then magnify. Of course, I have lousy sight admittedly. Your eyesight is gloriously keen.

Unless your me and want one yesterday.. keep them coming I’m trying to figure out how and when I can get there.. just to watch would be a thrill hey as a side note there is a long range competition coming in October in South Carolina it only goes out to 1000 yards but here in the east that’s about as long as it gets. Would be nice to have both groups get together.

Definitely let me know if we can meet up. em Burgess colder temperatures will generally result in lower pressures and velocities, depending on the powder used. Some are more temperature sensitive than others. But I can say I have never heard of a powder giving higher pressures and velocities when it's cold. My guess is that something else has changed

    • @emburgess7186

      Switch88 Thanks. I have been shooting mostly 168g Berger classic hunters with no issues loaded rather lite. Only 41.9g varget an decided to magnospeed some factory hornady 178g match ammo. Got a muzzle velocity of 2657 adverage from 3 shots which seems higher than expected due to ammo an chamber being 28 degrees. May be time to take all copper out with sweets 7.62 an start again with the 178's see if that solves problem.

      Daniel Moody not with a 30" barrel. Every book I have (Nosler, Berger, Hornady) shows load data using a 24" barrel

    • @michaelmyers746
      @michaelmyers746 6 років тому +2

      This is correct. The 7 SAUM gets 7mag velocities without the chamber pressure out of a 30" barrel, it's the efficiency of the case. As a close friend of Mike Langston, as well as a former 7SUAM owner, he's running them warm, but not "HOT". He could easily get to 3100, but he's burning barrels.

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  6 років тому +3

      As stated by Mike and Daniel, no reloading book is going to have numbers on a 30” barrel when the standard is 24-26. He’s also using a little known powder made by Norma that is no longer in production.

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  6 років тому +1

      I talked to Mike, the shooter. He said his load is actually very mild according to the reloading books he has including the berger book but that just goes to show you that every rifle is different and that books should be used a basic reference but not the gospel. He said if he were to load as the book said he'd have a very hot load in his rifle. More reason why one should always work up a load carefully. He had his chamber cut such that he can run these 183's and still feed from a mag so it's probably cut a little short and therefore why he's getting the pressure and speed with a mild load.
