I think the diy one actually sounds better where as the JBL is kind of muddy and missing some treble. I think for the test though they should have both been 100% because sometimes the volume is not completely linear as it tries to adjust for human audio perception. I might be wrong though.

I am building a portable Bluetooth speaker system of 3+3 watts. It mainly consists of a filter less class d audio amplifier. The problem here is that when I am powering both the Bluetooth audio receiver & amplifier from a common li ion 3.7 volt battery,a noise is coming at speaker.
I have a common ground for stereo audio out & power.
But If I power using two separate batteries the problems solves ie. No noise. But it's not portable.Because I have to charge a single battery.
In your speaker you have used differential audio coupling.
I my design the reciever directly providing L,R & Ground .
Is this this the cause for noise.

Really good speaker. I always told my friends, hey JBL, BOSE and any other good brand, can be pricey for their brand not really for quality. Build another one same as this one but bigger with 30-40W each speaker so you would have 80W in total and add 2 tweeters too and a nice passive radiator. I bet it would sound awesome but use something in between 1.2cm or 2.5cm of MDF (thickness).

@@vaughanbiddle3123 if you go to 'about' tab in aukits.com you can see a link for battery below the 'Parts' and 'Specs'. Alternatively, go to a local electronics shop and ask for a 18650 Li-on battery that can provide at least 4 amps of current :)
