I’m just starting to setup a gooseneck service truck on a 2013 Ram 5500 with an 84 inch cab to axle to support our logging operations. Your videos have been very helpful.

Very helpful video to watch. I just picked up a 2002 Dodge to build out as a service truck. Looking at those tiny screwdrivers popping out of the holes in the montezuma on the red truck, you could probably pop rubber grommets into those holes to keep them from wiggling loose.

Flatbeds FTW👌🏻 You’re right on the CM TM beds being the similar bed to your NorStar. Badass hat too.

The crane truck is the one for the win for a real service truck. The others are really more dual purpose and are good for trailering and some work. Some service trucks have an air compressor that runs all the time and pressurizes the tool boxes to keep dust out. I wouldn't touch your red truck as it is too heavy for the purpose.

I’ve been looking for that 7.3 Ford with the Dom1. Super desirable for my business. They’re getting really hard to find. Most have been run to death if they’re still around.

I got very lucky with finding that rig. The plan has been to ditch the Ford and get a dodge under the Dom 1 but hasn't happened yet

As a fellow suffering behind the lines, I am surprised you haven't gotten popped for not displaying your CA #'s on the sides. Although maybe you just use magnetic signs removed for the video. I like the red flatbed hitch storage in the back, that is a nice setup.

Are you using your phone's front camera? If so, look into the settings and toggle the switch for the Mirror setting. That way your videos will appear normal instead of a mirror image. Hope this helps.

Put some respect on that ford, boy!. Reason why top dogs chosen it to carry the crane.

I am NOT a fan of that Ford at all. Will be getting it out from under that Dom 1 bed and out of here as soon as I can afford to replace it with a 4th gen ram 4500. Interior is incredibly cheap, small cab, and no power. Has good brakes though!

19.5's on the 04? What lug pattern are the wheels? 285mm? I was wondering how you were able to use that F-450, then I caught a glimpse of how. Awesome video. I stepped away from a company owned 2018 Ram 5500 into my own and have decided to build it off of a flatbed so I can place everything as I desire.

Love the setup. I’m looking to mount a flatbed on my new ram cab and chassis. Do you have any pics/info of what mounts you used on your 22? I’m looking to haul gooseneck and bumper pull trailers with mine. I want to make sure the bed isn’t the weak link in the setup.

That video is perfect! Did you just use the factory holes in the frame of the truck or did you have to drill new holes?
      Thank you

Hidraulic pump on thhat crane is powered by the truck's engine? And you can start the engine from the crane's controls? Neat

Dumb question of the day. How do you pick the truck to put the bed on. So I started my own welding service. Running off a trailer. And now looking to put everything on a truck as the business is growing. All the videos for pipeline beds don’t really apply to me as I do maintenance and repair and have to carry more tooling and weight. Struggling to figure out one ton or 4500, dually vs single wheel. Never have had to worry about payload weight before. Thanks in advance for any information.
Going a flatbed route and building my own boxes and adding a crane where a fifth wheel plate would normally go.

You need to try and get your bed weight estimated with it completely full and ready to work. Then look at chassis weights and total gvw of different classes of trucks. I have a list from Stellantis if what the new rams weigh when shipped with no upfitter gear. For example, my 22 ram weighs 7723 shipped with a gvw of 14k and a rear axle gaw of 9850. I did the math that I could afford a bed weight of about 3k. I am right at 10,900 now. That gives about another 3k I can legally put into the bed (more than needed) and most importantly, about 4,200 lbs of pin weight from a gooseneck without going over gaw numbers, which is a little light unfortunately. I would suggest watching my later video titled "pushing the chassis cab to its limits and beyond" as I talk about weight limits towards the end

@@bobbyjfarms3681 hey appreciate the response and the information. Yeah the gvwr and all that is where I get confused. Because if my understanding of it is correct. Even the guys with smaller lighter loaded beds I’ve met are weigh over payload specs. My dad who farms just told me to buy something and load it up there will always be a weak spot haha, but it’s a huge investment for me at this point. So I’m trying to get as educated as I possibly can be and make the correct decision for longevity. I will most definitely check out your other video. Thanks again.
